Celebrate with Buttons

If any of you have a birthday, anniversary, engagement or any kind of celebration, call at guest services at any of the parks for a Celebration Button.

Kids will LOVE getting wished a happy birthday by Cast Members all day long. Theyll go out of their way to high-five and Happy Birthday, Happy Anniversary or whatever the occasion.

You may even get a complimentary snack or drink, it sometimes happens, but not always, so dont expect it. It can really make for a special trip.

Get an Autograph Book for the Kids

You can buy autograph books in the parks or the Disney stores. You could also buy plain writing pads before you go and have the kids decorate them.

Is It Worth Going To Disney During The Pandemic

Throughout this guide, weve mentioned lots of changes and suspensions due to COVID-19.

At Disney World, some of the normal fun stuff, like evening fireworks, have returned. Many special events, hotels, restaurants and more are also currently suspended. All guests ages 2 and up have to wear a face mask and have their temperature checked before entry into the parks. FastPass+ and Extra Magic Hours are gone, with replacements coming. Character meet-and-greets are still on hold and we may have seen the last of Minnie Vans.

Visiting Disney World right now is undoubtedly a very different experience than normal operations. If you are considering a big once in a lifetime visit, then now may not be the best time since you wont get the full experience. If you are especially concerned about being around others in public or cant tolerate a face mask in the Orlando heat, then you should definitely wait to book your trip.

But, if you take proper precautions and go in with reset expectations, in some ways Disney World is even more enjoyable than before. Its generally now enjoyed at a much slower pace you wont be going sunup to sundown due to shorter hours and youll definitely need less planning and strategy, especially with Early Theme Park Entry and the introduction of Genie+ and Lightning Lanes.

Hollywood Studios Or Epcot

The second park to visit can either be Hollywood Studios. You can start your day with some breakfast at Hollywood Studios before you go on an adventure exploring your favorite films and shows. After, you can then go to Epcot to get a taste of some of the best food and drinks. Depending on the time of the year, you may also be able to catch some of their annual festivals and events like the International Flower and Garden Festival or the International Food and Wine Festival.

Alternatively, you can also choose to go to Epcot first before heading over to Hollywood Studios. Epcot has several food and drink options to ensure your stomach is filled right when you arrive. Likewise, the crowd is not as packed in this theme park, but you can still keep busy with all the beautiful sights. If your day at Magic Kingdom left you tired and exhilarated, Epcot offers a small break to allow you to dial down a bit.

Start Early Ride Often

Early Theme Park Entry will actually be a blessing compared to the old Extra Magic Hours.

As mentioned previously, Early Theme Park Entry will provide on-site resort hotel guests a 30-minute head start at each of the four theme parks every day. There are two advantages to this as compared to Extra Magic Hours. First, you will be able to pick any park you want on any day. Extra Magic Hours were generally only featured at one park per day. Second, because Extra Magic Hours were only at one park, that park usually saw higher crowds the day they had extra hours. That led to the sometimes counterintuitive strategy to actually avoid a park on the day it featured Extra Magic Hours.

Early Theme Park Entry strategy will be pretty straightforward. Youll want to line up early, make sure your shoelaces are tied and the brakes are off the stroller wheels. When your chosen park opens, you want to make a beeline for the most popular available attraction thats also high on your list.

For example, little princesses in training may love meeting Cinderella. However, that line is bound to be a lot shorter than Seven Dwarfs Mine Train once the park opens to everyone else. First thing in the morning, making a beeline for Mine Train is probably the better strategy.

Similarly, Frozen Ever After and Test Track should be high on your list at Epcot. At Animal Kingdom, Avatar Flight of Passage is where you should head at a brisk pace .

Start Here When Planning A Disney World Trip For Adults

I feel like I know a thing or two about the best way to visit Walt Disney World as an adult! After all, I didnt just wake up one day and decide hey, I want to sell Disney world tickets for a living. I have been visiting Walt Disney World for as long as I can remember and now I am unapologetically a childless millennial who still visits.

In fact, my closest friends and I have taken an annual trip to Walt Disney World for the past 13 years in a row! Many of them were not die-hard Disney fans like me in the beginning, but man has that changed. Its all we talk about now and we all cant wait to continue to bring our families in the next few years!

The 50th Anniversary Is Here

From Oct. 1, Disney World will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the park opening.

This has noticeably increased demand for hotels, park pass reservations and pretty much everything related to Disney World. With Remys Ratatouille Adventure, a much anticipated new attraction at Epcot, debuting on Oct. 1, and the normal crowds for the Food & Wine Festival, expect Epcot to be even more crowded than normal.

All the parks will have celebrations going on for the golden anniversary. The Magic Kingdom has received a castle makeover ahead of the big date. But dont worry if now is not the time for you to head to Disney the celebration is scheduled to last into 2023.

Since park pass reservations are already in a sold-out state for the start of the celebration, you may want to wait a bit if youre trying to avoid crowds and increased pricing on hotels.

Wheelchair Access For Disney Rides

Most of these Disney World rides are accessible for guests in wheelchairs or ECVs , although many require transfer from a wheelchair to the ride vehicle.

On the Disney website, you can see this list of services for guests with mobility disabilities which shows which rides are accessible for wheelchair users.

This guide to going on Disney rides in a wheelchair is also useful and answers common questions.

Wheelchairs and ECVs can be hired at all the parks on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you’re looking for a fun breakfast before heading to Magic Kingdom, travel planner Kari Becker finds the Grand Floridian Cafe delightful.

Every meal in the beautifully decorated dining room comes with warm biscuits and butter, and Becker recommends ordering the eggs Benedict and hash-brown casserole.

Pro tip: Ask for a table by the window so you can take in the grounds of the resort.

Which Park Should I Visit

Although ideally to see all the parks you need four days, if you only want to take a quick trip from Miami, or don’t want to spend quite so much time there, our order of priority would be: Magic Kingdom , Disney Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, and Epcot.

Or if the world of Universal is more your thing, you can opt for the .

Which Theme Parks Should I Pick

With park pass reservations in play, youll need to pick all of your parks ahead of time. Each park is unique, just like you and your family. Yes, Magic Kingdom is great for little kids but its also fun for older kids and adults, with the three mountain rides , and its hard not to love Pirates of the Caribbean and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.

Meanwhile, Hollywood Studios is currently the park with the newest, coolest attractions. This is where Star Wars fans go to geek out, and youll find the one and only moving attraction at Disney World dedicated to everyones favorite mouse. But, Pandora The World of Avatar at Animal Kingdom is also pretty special. And now Epcot has the new Ratatouille ride, along with the new Space 220 restaurant.

If you are going for a week, we recommend visiting all four theme parks. If you only have a long weekend to work with, youll have to pick and choose based on the preferences of your group. Its hard to generalize, but if you have to play favorites, little kids shouldnt skip the Magic Kingdom but may not miss Epcot quite as much.

The Magic Kingdom is the answer to your question if you have a group with varied ages and want to have a classic Disney experience. It is also the best choice if this is your first Disney World visit. There are tons of rides to choose from that will be fun for everybody. Most of the rides have pretty low height requirements meaning everyone can ride. You will also be able to find plenty of characters throughout the park. Overall, this is a wonderful park and there will be enough activities to fill your whole day.

Challenges To Ranking The Disney Parks

There are some real challenges to the task of ranking the Disney parks. First, its not like we went from one to another day after day. There were months between some visits and days between others.

Second, we had a limited time at each park. While we always err on the side of overstaying, theres no doubt it takes time to truly appreciate a good theme park. We don’t claim to be experts about every park.

Relatedly, we have vastly more experience at Walt Disney World and Disneyland than the other resorts. This helps some parks there that take time to really understand, while it hurts others that suffer from fatigue easily.

Finallyand what this post is really aboutthere is just the question of what makes a good theme park. It should go without saying that this list is subjective. But we’ve also tried to think it through and come up with some sort of support for our positions. Any good subjective ranking should maintain some consistency in the factors it’s considering.

When you get down to the actual rankings, youll maybe think it reads somewhat like a list we threw together like any other clickbait list . But that’s because we didn’t want to devote hundreds of words to each park, and it would be incredibly boring for people who just care about the list to have to hear us go on about the same things over and over.

Best Genie+ Rides At Animal Kingdom

Genie+ is less useful at Animal Kingdom as there are fewer rides.

Your Genie+ priority should be Navi River Journey followed by Kilimanjaro Safari. Kali River Rapids and Dinosaur only really need it on busy days.

Unfortunately, Avatar Flight of Passage and Expedition Everest are only available if you pay individually. I recommend arriving early and riding them both first.

The ‘finding Nemo’ Show Is Stacked With Talented Performers

Before it closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, “Finding Nemo The Musical” was a must-see for Becker on every trip to Animal Kingdom.

Now, the park is bringing back a new-and-improved version of the show called “Finding Nemo: Big Blue … And Beyond.”

Becker especially recommends the show for parents with kids as her own boys are drawn in by the beautiful storytelling.

How Many Days Can You Spend

Disney Fan Visits Every Disney Theme Park in 75 Hours

Your best park ticket option hands-down is some variation of the multi-day pass. If you can swing it, shoot for the 4-day ticket. There are four unique parks, so you could plan on doing one park each day. Obviously if you can spend more than four days do it! However, if your time constraints only allow you to spend three days visiting the Mouse, youll need to prioritize which parks to visit . ALL the parks are amazing, so it will be tough to eliminate one, but consider these park details as you make a decision:

1. Magic Kingdom Magic Kingdom is what you think of when you think of Disney. Its classic the castle, the characters, the Teacups, Dumbo. There is SO MUCH for kids in this park, and also some big rides like Space Mountain and Seven Dwarves Mine Train. I wouldnt eliminate this one.

2. Epcot Epcot is a very large park with two distinct areas: Future World and World Showcase. Future world has some great rides, while World Showcase has some great cultural exhibits. There is plenty for kids to do and see here . But if you choose to visit this park be prepared for an extreme science museum experience, not necessarily a typical thrill-ride theme park experience.

Figure out your schedule. Then check your budget.
