What Is Star Wars: Galaxys Edge
The 14-acre Disney Parks expansion can be found at both Disneys Hollywood Studios Park at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida and Disneyland Park at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California.
When the two Star Wars lands opened â on May 31, 2019, at Disneyland and on August 29, 2019, at Disney World â Star Wars fans could literally step into a galaxy far, far away for the very first time. The experience? Nothing short of incredible.
Galaxyâs Edge is themed to transport Guests to the Outer Rim planet of Batuu, home to Black Spire Outpost, which is described as:
Black Spire Outpost was located on the planet Batuu in the Outer Rim Territories and was considered one of the last stops before Wild Space and the Unknown Regions. The outpost consisted of a spaceport, a cantina , and a market. Its population was around four to five hundred by the time of the Clone Wars.

Disneys Star Wars land features two rides Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon Smugglers Run in addition to a number of shopping and dining options like Dock Ondars Den of Antiquities and Docking Bay 7.
Although Batuu has yet to actually appear in a Star Wars movie or series, it is mentioned in Solo: A Star Wars Story , when droid L3-37 told Lando Calrissian that without her help, he wouldnât make it from âhere to Black Spireâ.
What Are Star Wars: Galaxys Edges Restaurants
Ever since The Wizarding World of Harry Potter debuted nine years before Star Wars: Galaxys Edge, incorporating exclusive food and drinks into a theme-park lands proceedings has been of the utmost importance there are fewer ways to inject guests with a straight dose of immersion .
It turns out this is a particular challenge for Star Wars beyond just a few basic examples , its a wide-open playing field. Luckily, Disney has embraced this difficulty head-on, crafting a whole host of brand-new plates and drinks to help convince visitors that theyve really found their way to an alien planet in an entirely different galaxy. In fact, given the backstory the company has fashioned for Batuu, generally, and Black Spire Outpost, specifically, there is an entire approach to Galaxys Edges gastronomical wares that is both clever and appealing: the Batuuans have developed a farm to table style of cooking and preparing their meals, passing down these whole foods and their recipes from generation to generation. As the company itself puts it:
Each dish tells a story of the local culture, drawing inspiration from unique spices, ingredients, and cooking techniques.
Up next is Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo, a fast-casual restaurant that places its focus on a slew of exotic dishes . With its large food lineup and the promise of a potentially-ever-changing menu, this will surely become the favorite venue for many a return visitor.

Star Wars: Galaxys Edge Music
When you think about the Star Wars, you will likely recall the iconic music associated with the film franchise. The musical score of Star Wars was one of the highlights of composer John Williams career and the body of work that made him a legend. Furthermore, the all-new, exclusive music was recorded by the famed London Symphony Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios. Check out the preview of the musical score:

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
Star Tours has been a great attraction for years, but just down a walkway from there at Disney’s Hollywood Studios you’ll find the most ambitious project that Walt Disney Imagineering has ever undertaken. It’s not simply an entire land dedicated to Star Wars, but a piece of Star Wars canon made real. What we know as Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge is, within the story being told, the planet Batuu. It’s a planet on the edge of wildspace where both the Resistance and the First Order can be found. Everything is set during a period of time between Star Wars: The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker. Every step through the land is an attraction all itself. But of course, there’s also so much more.
The Color Scheme Is Different At Both Theme Parks
While both theme parks are supposed to be representing the same place– a planet called Batuu — at the same time — a spot in the Star Wars timeline between The Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker — they don’t actually look exactly the same. The colors used at Disney’s Hollywood Studios pop a bit more, while at Disneyland the stone that makes up the exterior of Black Spire Outpost are more muted. More than likely this was done to help the land stand out more in the wildly different climates of Southern California and Central Florida.
Yet that’s not all, even very specific choices, like say, the look of the podracer engine being used to cook meat at Ronto Roasters, isn’t the same in both spots. Disneyland’s engine, like the rest of the land, is a more pale blue, like the engine has been sitting out in the sun for a long time. The coloring at Hollywood Studios is much darker. And that’s not all, they’re technically not even the same engine, as the Aurebesh symbol on the two engines is not the same.

Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination
On October 19, 2005, Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination opened at the Museum of Science in Boston, Massachusetts. A traveling exhibition created by the Museum of Science, Boston, featuring props and costumes used in the Star Wars films, but focusing primarily on the science behind George Lucas’ science fiction epic. Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination was developed by Boston‘s Museum of Science, in collaboration with Lucasfilm Ltd., with the support of the National Science Foundation, under Grant No. 0307875. This exhibit was presented nationally by Bose Corporation.
The Layout At Disney World And Disneyland Is Slightly Different
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge takes up just about the same amount of space at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland. In fact, if you were standing in the middle of Black Spire Outpost, the two locations would look largely identical however, the further out you go, the more differences you will see. The Outpost itself is largely the same, but the surrounding countryside, and Galaxy’s Edge is so big there is countryside, is a bit different.
You’ll find A-wing and X-wing fighters on display in both Disneyland and Walt Disney World, but their respective locations, especially in relation to Rise of the Resistance, are slightly different. If you’ve been to one Galaxy’s Edge and find yourself walking through the other, it feels different enough that you might feel vaguely confused. Almost as if something is in the wrong place.

Jedi Training: Trials Of The Temple
On December 1, 2015, Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and was a successor attraction to Jedi Training Academy, a live show guest experience based on the Jedi teachings found in the Star Wars series with new characters from Star Wars: Rebels. The attraction later opened at other Disney locations – on December 8, 2015, at Disneyland, on July 11, 2015, at Disneyland Park Paris and on June 25, 2016, at Hong Kong Disneyland, as part of its 10th anniversary celebration. It’s located next to Star ToursThe Adventures Continue in the Echo Lake area at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, at the Tomorrowland Terrace in Disneyland, inside Videopolis in Discoveryland at Disneyland Park Paris and at the original UFO Zone area in Hong Kong Disneyland.
A group of children goes through the training with the Jedi master and a Jedi Apprentice . Then, the group uses the force to open the doors to the Temple. Darth Vader comes out, followed by The Seventh Sister. Each trainee on the upper platform fights Vader, while each trainee on the lower platform fights The Seventh Sister from Star Wars: Rebels. After each trainee has faced off with a villain, Vader and The Seventh Sister turn to leave. Right before they would go through the doors, they turn around to seemingly fight again. The Jedi Master then leads the trainees in using the Force to push The Seventh Sister and Vader back into the Temple.

Fans of Walt Disney – Get The Walt Disney Company Report theme parks are accustomed to making a large investment to visit the Disney World Resort in Florida, Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Calif., or any other of its parks around the world.
Visiting a Disney Park has become a luxury excursion that middle-class families either need to save for or go into debt to experience.
The lowest price of admission for a one-day ticket at either a Disneyland or Disney World park is $109, but that doesn’t include parking if you’re driving. Guests can save some money with a multi-day Park Hopper, but it’s still going to cost you much more than a single-day admission.
Disney World suspended its annual pass program for the general public, but charged $1,299 before pausing the program. Disneyland offers four levels of its replacement for annual passes, Magic Keys, with the highest price at $1,399.
For wealthier people, guests can pay a premium to enjoy a VIP experience in a VIP Tour. Groups of up to 10 people can pay $425 to $850 and hour at Disney World parks, not including park admission, for a customized day at a park. And for the ultimate overnight stay at Disney World, guests with plenty of cash or extra limits on their credit cards can book a two-day experience at Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser for $4,809 for two people and $5,999 for a party of four.

How To Visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge At The Disney Resorts
The Disneyland Galaxy’s Edge no longer requires a reservation, but Disney World does.
Katie is a Writer at CNET, covering all things how-to. When she’s not writing, she enjoys playing in golf scrambles, practicing yoga and spending time on the lake.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is finally opening at Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida on August 29, and as of right now, you can get reservations to visit the attractions on the land. The Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California opened in May and guests no longer need a reservation to see the Star Wars-themed land, but you’ll still need to reserve your spot in Disney’s virtual line via the Disneyland app.
Here’s how to reserve a spot.
Where Is Star Wars Galaxys Edge
Disney constructed Star Wars Galaxys Edge in their Hollywood Studios theme park. That makes sense because the park celebrates the best of film history and Disney filmmaking.
Hollywood Studios is on the southern side of Disneys property. If youre going to Hollywood Studios by car, its off of I-4, Osceola Parkway, and World Drive.
Galaxys Edge is located opposite the entrance, next to Toy Stroy Land inside the park. There are two ways to enter it: through Toy Story Land or via Grand Avenue.

Whats The Difference Between Star Wars: Galaxys Edge In Orlando And Anaheim
For all intents and purposes, the Disney World and Disneyland Star Wars lands are nearly identical. The rides, restaurants, shops, and even the layouts are virtually the same. Chances are, if you visited Star Wars: Galaxys Edge at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, you wouldnt even notice the differences, but here are a few:
- In Disneyland, there are three entrances to Galaxys Edge, while Disney World only has two.
- Ogas Cantina is the only place in Galaxys Edge where you can purchase alcohol, which means only non-alcoholic blue and green milk are available at the Milk Stand.
- There are slight menu differences at Docking Bay 7 and Ronto Roasters, too.
The Story In The Canon Up Til Now
Heres a streamlined version of what you need to know about Batuus place in the overarching Star Wars story: Emperor Sheev Palpatine has been obsessed with Wild Space particularly beyond the galactic rim, where no one has ever managed to venture before since even before the birth of the Empire, thanks to the possibility of expansion that the Unknown Regions represent and his growing belief that the dark side of the Force itself emanates from there. But there are many dangers lying in wait, ranging from natural phenomena that make hyperspace travel difficult, if not outright impossible, to a number of technologically-superior military threats contained in the region, including the Gyrsks, who have been secretly watching both the Old Republic and Galactic Empire for several decades and had even made some tentative steps to invade.
Although Palpatine, after years and years of trial-and-error, finally manages to plot a safe trajectory through the Unknown Regions and out into intergalactic space, he dies before being able to do so but he passes on the information to the remaining Imperial leadership, along with the instructions to finish destroying the Rebel Alliance and then start a new Empire in a brand-new galaxy . The latter part of the mandate ultimately comes to fruition just one year after the end of the original trilogy, with the leftover Imperial remnant declaring itself the First Order as it heads out for greener interstellar pastures.

Eating In Galaxys Edge
During normal times, the lunch line for Docking Bay 7, the only true quick-service restaurant in the land, can stretch out of the building. Youll currently be restricted to mobile ordering, though we expect in-person ordering to return in the months ahead.
Here are our favorite food items in Galaxys Edge. Hint: The blue and green milk are not our favorite items, but can be worth trying once if youre a Star Wars fan. Also note that this area isnt the best place to eat if your crew is craving theme park staples like burgers and fries.
I recommend the sausage wraps from Rontos for a quick and tasty bite. In fact, it is one of our favorite grab-and-go foods at Disney World. Theres also a new vegetarian version of the wrap that gets high marks. If you just want a snack, the red and purple popcorn isnt bad, either. Its a good idea to use mobile ordering to order in advance here, too.
Reserve Your Spot In The Virtual Line At Disneyland
To be on the safe side, you’ll need to check in to reserve your virtual spot in line using the Disneyland app. You’ll need to link tickets of everyone in your group that plans on going inside. You can still enjoy the rest of the park while you’re waiting to be notified to enter the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge area. Once you receive the notification, you’ll have two hours to enter the area.
To reserve your visit for Oga’s Cantina and Savi’s Workshop, you’ll need to book a reservation by visiting or and selecting one of the available time slots. You’ll have to put down a deposit in order to reserve your spot.
Grab a space cocktail at Oga’s Cantina.
Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular
This show takes place nightly throughout the park and especially in the central area by the replica of Manns Chinese Theater. It combines fireworks, lasers, lights, holographs, and much more for a truly spectacular experience.
Important Note: This show has been temporarily suspended during the Covid-19 pandemic and has not resumed at the time of this writing.
Understand The Costume Rules
Just like with Disney After Hours Boo Bash, Disney encourages bounding but not full costumes that could be mistaken for Disney Cast Members or characters.
Just what is DisneyBounding, you ask?
Disney Bounding means using a majority of regular clothing items to put together ensembles that resemble popular Disney characters.
It lets fans represent their favorite heroes or villains without causing issues that would pop up if guests looked too much like the real thing.
When planning what to wear, Disney states that these things are NOT allowed:
- All robes or military-style attire
- Masks, face paint, elaborate headwear, blasters or holsters or hard items such as body armor, helmets or kneepads
- Full character suits
Check out this Disney Parks Blog post for more information on what clothing items are allowed.
