Which Disney World Resort To Stay At

Best Moderate Disney World Resorts

Why Stay at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel?

Moderate resorts at Disney World represent something of a challenge when it comes to vacation planning. Accommodations at some of these properties are certainly better than the Value resorts , but they tend not to have immersive themes like those priced both above and below this tier.

But, as always, there are standouts in every category. Prices at Disney Moderate resorts often cost between $200 and $400 per night.

Benefits Of Staying On

Location & Convenience The biggest benefit of staying at an on-site Walt Disney World resort hotel is convenience. To one degree or another, just about every pro radiates out from here. The hotels are generally closer to the parks, which in some cases can mean its as simple as walking or taking a monorail or boat from the hotel to the park.

This short and simple commute can enable parties to split up more easily or go back to the hotel for a midday nap without killing a large chunk of the day. This convenience can make the day more efficient and enable your party to accomplish more. This is primarily a benefit if Walt Disney World is the top or sole priority on vacationas other non-Disney parks continue to add more compelling attractions, this is becoming less important to many guests.

Airport Transportation If guests so desire, they never have to rent a car or use ride share services if staying in a Walt Disney World resort hotel. Disneys Magical Express offers round-trip transportation between Orlando International Airport and all Disney-owned resorts, which is another huge convenience.

Unfortunately, Disneys Magical Express service ends in January 2022. This is a controversial decision, and the result will be that guests either have to take Uber/Lyft, another paid shuttle service, or rent a carall of those options can just as easily be utilized for accessing off-site hotels.

Many people don’t realize that Art of Animation has wonderfully themed suites that tend to price around a standard room at a deluxe resort. These include Lion King, Finding Nemo, and Cars themed suites.

All-Star Music also has suites, but they arent notably well-themed.

If youd like some extra space without paying the $1000s youll see deluxe suites going for, Art of Animation is a good way to do this.

Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

Ah yes, the mighty Grand Floridian. Theres an almost mythical magic to this castle-sized resort. Or, according to some of you, not nearly ENOUGH magic.

Grand Floridian

To the surprise of absolutely no one, the sheer cost of staying here was a common factor for why many readers shunned it. Love it but cant unless I win the lotto, one reader said, while another elaborated with really nice, but I need more magic for the price.

The price-to-magic ratio was a frequent sticking point, and another reader added kids kept complaining and it wasnt fun or magical. Still, the newly opened walkway linking Grand Floridian to Magic Kingdom could change some things! As one reader optimistically put it, new walkway might be a game-changer.

From expensive cost to daunting size to mermaid theming, there are MANY reasons why some Disney resorts just arent great for everyone! And each stay in a new resort can be a learning experience, so going forward, we all know to seek out hotels that do NOT in any way remind us of The Shining.
