When Is Value Season At Disney World

Things To Keep In Mind For May:

Why Disney World Is So Expensive | So Expensive
  • The Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival transforms Epcot into an array of color. Make sure you set aside some time to check out the topiaries there.
  • Storms will also likely be a factor so we highly recommend you plan mid-day breaks from the sun and rain during your trip.

Get park hours and info on refurbishments and special events on the May crowd calendar.

Crowd Impact From Yearly Events

Yearly events at Walt Disney World can have a significant impact on crowd levels, park hours, and offerings such as special parties, live entertainment, fireworks, and parades. Some annual events, such as the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival, are so popular that many park guests plan their Walt Disney World vacation dates around them. Other events entirely outside of Disneys control can also impact crowd levels, and thus your vacation experience. Events such as Jersey week in November, summer school recess, Gay Days in early June, and visiting South American tour groups in June and July all of which bring more visitors to the park. Likewise, park crowds can be impacted by events such as Super Bowl Sunday, which keeps many locals away from the parks and is usually a great time to visit. The chart below summarizes some of the special events you can expect during specific times of the year and the impact they may have on your vacation or particular areas of Walt Disney World Resort. While the scheduling of these events is somewhat predictable, the information below is offered as a guideline. Travelers should consult official Walt Disney World information or sponsor websites to confirm dates for any listed event.

There Are Other Things To Consider

Yesyour budget is a big part of planning your trip. But other factors matter, too. How will crowd levels impact your trip? Will your kids need to miss school? Will you need to miss work ? What will the weather be like?

It probably goes without saying, but the cheapest times are the cheapest times for a reasontheyre not as desirable as other times of the year. This could be because the weather is bad, or because most families have conflicts like school, or for some other reason.

Uk/ireland Resident Disney Resort Hotel Discounts

Summer Is Not Peak Season at Disney World.

The Disney specialist travel agency we recommend, Small World Vacations, gladly works with clients around the globe. They have many clients from the UK and Ireland. Unfortunately they cannot book UK-specific offers, but sometimes the American offers are a better deal.

The best and easiest way to book any Walt Disney World holiday offers that are specific to UK visitors is to go online to the UK Walt Disney Travel Company website.

You can also check the UK Visitors page for current room-only offers that are specific to the UK.

Park Hours And Wait Times

Wait times average 90 minutes or more for popular rides during peak crowd times to 15 minutes or less during low crowd times. For information on how to handle long wait times, visit our FastPass+ Page. Additionally, during the busier times of the year, the parks will offer the longer hours and more Extra Magic Hours for resort guests to enjoy.

Least Expensive Times To Visit Disney World

The good news? That leaves plenty of other times when you can land a good price and encounter fewer crowds. Consider these good-value periods:

Are your kids too young for kindergarten? Or do you homeschool your kids? The weeks immediately after New Year offer some of the very best rates of the year . School kids head back in class following the Christmas break, so the parks are less crowded then, too.

AutumnAlso less expensive than Disney Worlds so-called regular season is the long fall season . While hotel prices rise slightly for holidays such as Halloween, they are still much less expensive than at holiday and peak times. Even Thanksgiving is less expensive than Easter and Christmas.

Note that during the low-season periodsparticularly January and the fall between September and mid-DecemberDisney often offers packages that include a free dining plan. This can be a super offer, so keep an eye on the page of Disney vacation deals leading up to those periods.

WeekdaysPlanning a multi-day vacation at Disney World on a budget? Consider a Sunday to Thursday stay. Midweek rates are almost always less expensive than weekend rates, so sliding your vacation window to hit only weekdays or mainly weekdays will not only save you money but you will also encounter fewer crowds.

Weather In Disney World By The Season

Winter The majority of the year is t-shirt and shorts weather, but in the winter months, it can be chilly some days, and definitely at night. At that time of year, a jacket and sweater are both good ideas, yet bringing lighter clothes in case the temperatures are mild.

The average daytime high temperature in Dec, Jan, Feb, and March is in the low 70s. This is actually good news and we prefer to visit the parks when the weather isnt as hot as in the Summer. The negatives are that it isnt great pool weather so not as much to do around the hotels. The Resorts flowers and trees arent as beautiful in the Winter and this has the least daylight of any season.

Spring This is another great time to visit Walt Disney World and if you visit in March/April the average daytime high temperature is in the low 80s. This is good pool weather and good for the parks. Temperatures in May get significantly higher and reach close to 90 degrees.

Another good thing about Spring is its not an overly humid time of year with moderately low rainfall. There is also more sunlight in the Spring, which allows for longer hours in the parks every day.

Humidity is off the charts in the Summer months with an average of 60% or more. Disney World has 13 rainy days per month on average in the Summer, and 6.4 inches of rain.

Daylight is still good in early Fall, just remember to bring a light jacket or sweater at night as temperatures drop significantly compared to the daytime.

Best And Worst Holidays To Visit Disney World In 2022 And 2023

Let’s hop over to the holidays. These are popular times for families to make trips to Disney World, and rightly so. The Christmas holiday season especially, which runs from mid-November through the first of the new year at Disney World, is a wonderful time to visit because the parks are decorated and there are many fun special events. Many families love the atmosphere around the holidays, even with the extra crowds. The parks are most crowded around the following holidays:

      • New Year’s Day – Jan. 1
      • Easter – April 17, 2022, and April 9, 2023
      • Independence Day – July 4
      • Christmas – Dec. 25
      • New Year’s Eve – Dec. 31

If you’re thinking of visiting during these times, be sure to check out our tips and tricks for visiting during spring break, Thanksgiving and Christmas. The other holidays also see an increase in crowds, although they are less pronounced than the ones above.

      • Veterans Day – Nov. 11, 2022, and Nov. 10, 2023
      • MLK Day – Jan. 17, 2022, and Jan. 16, 2023

How To Save Money On Your Disney World Trip

Disney World 2019 Resort Price Seasons

I do have an in-depth money-saving guide but to sum things up, here are some easy, surefire ways to help make your WDW trip more affordable.

      1. Go offseason

I recommend you take a look at this crowd calendar to see just how busy and expensive Disney World during the time youre looking to plan your visit.

Generally during Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Easter, Spring Break, and the summer, you can expect to pay premium prices for resorts and airfare.

I also forgot to mention to avoid planning your trip during marathon weekends since these days are usually packed and room rates tend to increase.

Thats why I recommend going to Disney during the off-season which is after New Years all the way to March as well as from October to Thanksgiving.

Parks are usually dead and prices are the lowest, at least from personal experiences.

      2. Go as a couple instead of a whole family.

As crazy as it sounds, you dont always have to bring your kids or all your kids to Disney World.

Disney World is just as fun for adults as it is kids.

Plus, the way I see if is that if half your family hates Disney and other half loves it, why not just take a father -son/daughter or mother-son/daughter trip.

      3. Look at neighboring airports

If youre renting a car, it might actually be cheaper to fly into Tampa or Jacksonville, or even Miami.

This isnt always the case, but it doesnt hurt to expand your airfare search to include neighboring airports.

      4. Stay off-property

      5. Use credit card points

Weve color-coded the calendar to indicate days with lower crowds , moderate crowds , and higher crowds . As you can see from the red dates on the calendar, there are many more high-crowd days than just the holiday periods we mentioned above. Our calendar takes into account these seasonal and unofficial event days to help you save even more money. Our primary goal is to help you plan the perfect Disney World vacation so you can afford to return again and again!

        Picking Your Park Days

A lot goes into figuring out what days youll go to what park. This starts with figuring out how many days you need at each park. Magic Kingdom is the only park that absolutely needs a full day, and an extra half or second day is preferred. Each of the other three parks can easily fill a full day, but each has highlights that can be experienced in half a day .

If you want to know more about what the parks have to offer, weve got rides guides to all four parks :

Early Theme Park Entry. If youre staying at a Disney hotel youll have access to every park every day for 30 minutes before other guests. This allows you to get a head start on the day, and even if you dont think 30 minutes is a big dealother people will, and youll usually want to be ahead of them in line! You can read more about Disney Worlds new Early Theme Park Entry offering here.

Extended Evening Hours. Guests of deluxe Disney hotels will have access to extended evening hours at select parks on select dates. Note this is in addition to Early Theme Park Entry, discussed above, but this evening perk is restricted to deluxe hotels. You can read more about the new Extended Evening Hours perk for deluxe resort guests here.

          Transportation At Walt Disney World

One important decision is . Even if youre sure you want a car, we recommend you read some of our tips about having a car at Walt Disney World.

Generally, youll be relying on bus, boat, monorail, or walking to get to and between the parks. You can also Uber around Walt Disney World. If youre unsure how to get between two points, ask the concierge or desk staff at your hotel, or ask a Cast Member at a park .

Transportation at Walt Disney World can, unfortunately, be quite slow. This is especially true of bus and boat transportation. If youre in a hurry, consider Uber.

Disney used to off its own rideshare systemMinnie Vansthrough a partnership with Lyft, but it hasnt operated in a while. If they return, the high prices of Minnie Vans make them not worth considering for most purposes other than getting to the Magic Kingdom, where other drivers are not allowed to make drop-offs. Theyre also good if you need two car seats, as Uber Car Seat cars typically only have one.
