Figuring out when you can book dining reservations in Walt Disney World is one of the most important steps because time is of the essence.
UPDATE:All Walt Disney World guests can now make dining reservations. Disney had temporarily suspended the Advanced Dining Reservation system, but it is now open once again.
As of July 2020 during the Disney World reopening, Advanced Dining Reservations can be made up to 60 days in advance.
Before this latest change, dining reservations in Disney World were available 180 days in advance. This new 60-day booking window is temporary and at some point it will go back to 180 days.

Top 5 Tips For Getting Reservations At Popular Disney Restaurants
Posted by: Sarah Chapman
Many people look upon their ADR or Dining Reservation Day with great anticipation, an equal number look upon it with dread. And a number probably greater than those two put together have no idea what I am talking about because they dont know about the magic number 180. In this quick guide to making your dining dreams come true you will find some tips and techniques for making your dining reservations.
5. Start Early!
99% of Walt Disney World restaurants open their books to reservations 180 days in advance. I find it hard to know what I am going to eat for dinner each night at home, but when planning my Disney vacations I somehow know exactly what I want six months out. If you have booked your vacation package early enough, you should begin planning your park days and dining preferences the minute you have your package booked. Be ready at 180 days out to make your reservations. You can find several ADR Calculators online with a Google Search where you can enter your check-in date or desired date for your reservation and it will let you know the date you can start. For those of you staying on property at a Walt Disney World resort you can make your reservations for up to 10 days after that 180 day mark of your check-in datetake advantage of this to secure those hard to get restaurants. If you cant get them at the beginning of your trip chances are there is availability toward the end of your trip.
2. Be Persistent
Best Restaurants For Kids At Walt Disney World
Posted by: Sarah Chapman
I feel like Walt Disney World Parks & Resorts know a thing or two about entertaining families and kids. And they have done an excellent job making many of their dining experiences kid-friendly. Where you may only be brave enough to venture out to Chick-Fil-A or McDonalds with your kids at home, Disneys restaurants have lots of built in features to keep them entertained and menu items that are friendly to a childs palate. But the really great thing is that these same restaurants will have grown-up menu features and options so that everyone gets to enjoy their meal. Here are my top choices for restaurants for kids:
10. Sci-Fi Dine In Theater, Disneys Hollywood Studios
I have to preface this by saying that you know your kids. If they are going to be frightened by cheesy mid-century horror flicks or dark spaces this is NOT a good choice for your family. My kids, however, love it. The whole ambiance of sitting in a car at a simulated outdoor drive in movie theater is just so much fun. The excerpts from movies shown are really just silly rather than anything else, but for some children it may be too much. The menu is kid-friendly too with great shakes, burgers, etc.
9. Chef Mickeys, Disneys Contemporary Resort
8. Cinderellas Royal Table, Magic Kingdom

Try A Reservation Finding Service
MouseDining is a popular service that constantly checks for openings at restaurants you choose to track and then sends you text alerts when something becomes available.
This is a handy feature since it isnt uncommon for available reservations to be released in batches.
If you are looking for just a couple of openings, their free version would probably work for you, but even if you need to upgrade to one of their paid options, the small cost is well worth the time it would save you from having to do all the checking on your own.
Theres also Touring Plans dining reservation finder, which will notify you when a specific dining reservation you want is available.
To be clear, this is only an alert tool and youll have to make your own reservations .
You need a TouringPlans.com account to use the reservation finder, but an active subscription isnt needed to use the tool. You can set up dining reservation alerts with a basic access Touring Plans account.
You can also try MouseWatcher.com for Disney dining reservation alerts. But, this one does cost money.
You can either pay for individual alerts or purchase a subscription . MouseWatcher checks for reservation availability 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
When it comes to getting alerts, youll receive either a text or an email. You can then click the link provided to make a dining reservation.

Everything You Need To Know About Disney Dining Reservations
by David Mumpower·September 14, 2021
Have you done much googling about Disney World dining reservations? If so, youre probably confused.
Much of the information seemingly conflicts. Theres a good reason for that. Disney quietly changed the rules, apparently permanently.
Sure, the parks can modify their policies again at any point, but were operating under the assumption that status quo will remain for a while.
As such, much of what youre reading has grown outdated. You need better info.
So, lets talk about Disney Advanced Dining Reservations during the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World!

What Are Advance Dining Reservations
Disneys Advance Dining Reservation System allows you to make dining reservations at Disney Worlds table service restaurants.
Advance Dining Reservations can be made by any Walt Disney World guest, including those staying off Disney property.
There are literally hundreds of dining options throughout Disney World ranging from upscale, casual, family, and themed restaurants and plenty of dinner shows and character dining events to choose from.
How Many Full Service Meals Should We Plan On
Keep in mind that these dining experiences often take up a good amount of time so build eating times in to your trip. In my own experience, I only book one Disney World Advanced Dining Reservations per day, usually for lunch. This allows my family to eat a light breakfast in our hotel room.
We enjoy our fancy ADR meal at lunch time. I like to book an indoor dining location for lunch in an effort to avoid the near-daily rain storms in Orlando! Then we grab a quick service dinner whenever hunger strikes. Or if Im being honest, sometimes we just have ice cream cones for dinner!
So how can you get that Disney World Advanced Dining Reservations for the meal you really want? These are basic tips for newbies looking to grab a few ADR for their trip.

The Best Disney World Restaurant: Takumi
Upscale Japanese omakase in a theme park? Yes, please.
First opened in summer 2019 , Takumi-Tei and its five themed rooms immediately transport you out of theme park mode and into a calm, serene environment with extremely attentive service, solid food and great attention to detail.
Besides the $130 seven-course omakase menu option, you can choose to order a la carte as long as you didnt select the Chefs Table in the water room. There, you must order a nine-course, $180 meal that takes place over three hours.
Among the individual dishes, we recommend the chefs sushi assortment, served in bite-sized pieces , the telen-garden salad with watermelon and tuna sashimi and, of course, the wagyu beef is melt-in-your-mouth fantastic.
Theres a childrens menu, but it comprises items such as roasted duck and sea bass, so this restaurant may be one you save for date night or when the children are older its that good.
When Takumi-Tei reopens, its a spot we cant recommend enough.

This personal experience of panic and searching for dining hacks inspired me to write this article so hopefully it can help someone else out who may find themselves in a similar boat. Do You Have To Make Dining Reservations For Disney World Restaurants
For most restaurants in Walt Disney World, you are not required to make a dining reservation ahead of time. However, when available, it is always best to get an advanced dining reservation for the restaurant you want to visit.
Depending on where you want to go, some restaurants are more difficult to get a table at than others. There are some restaurants that take walk-ins and are easier to pick at the last minute.
On the other hand, if you want to dine at one of the more popular restaurants in Disney World, then reservations are HIGHLY recommended and it will be extremely difficult to get in without one.
The time of year you are visiting also matters and the busier Disney World is when you visit, the more likely you will need an ADR. Just another reason to use a Disney Crowd Calendar before deciding when to visit.
Walt Disney World is not a great place for spontaneous eaters and you should familiarize yourself with how dining reservations work for the best results.
Disney Dining Reservations: When To Book
Lets be honest: The stress of planning Disney dining reservations can feel like a FastPass+ to family therapy. Why? Disney World has over 400 restaurants to choose from and knowing what, when, and how to book can be overwhelming. To make matters more complicated, snagging reservations to restaurants with the highest demand feels like reservation gladiators. Throw COVID closures into the mix and vacation planning suddenly becomes scarier than the Tower of Terror.
We have three resources to ensure your Disney vacation planning process has a fairy tale ending
But dont fret. We have three resources to ensure your Disney vacation planning process has a fairy tale ending:

2. A complete list of every Disney World Restaurant that accepts reservations: This spreadsheet includes a list of all Disney restaurants that accept reservations, where they’re located, which offer character experiences and/or events, and which are in high demand. Not enough? It also indicates which restaurants are temporarily closed during COVID.
3. A list of travel advisors who specialize in Disney: If you’re not a travel professional already, you may just decide you want to find one to do the heavy lifting. We’ll show you where you can find one here.
Its a lot cheaper than Family Therapy.
