Dont forget that Disney World will add a NEW hotel in 2022! Well, sorta. Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser is set to open on March 1st, 2022. This immersive two-night experience sounds truly out-of-this-worldbut remember, this isnt a traditional hotel!
Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser
A two-night stay aboard Galactic Starcruiser includes a jam-packed itinerary that doesnt really allow for any activities outside of the Halcyon, so if you want to, say, visit Magic Kingdom, youll need to book your Galactic Starcruiser experience at the beginning, middle, or end of your Disney World vacation.
Fab 50 Character Collection Statues
Another lovely touch youll notice around Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom are the Disney Fab 50 Character Collection gold statues.
There are 50 characters in total represented, but there are only 36 separate statues. Some characters are combined into 1 statue.
These statues make for great photo-ops and are extremely well done. If you havent seen them in person yet, be sure to make time to locate them all.

What Shows Will Be Available During Disney Worlds 50th Anniversary
At this time Disney World has not announced if stage shows would be available for the 50th anniversary. Due to the pandemic-era restrictions and social distancing, the Resort has not hosted several of its entertainment offerings, including Mickeyâs Royal Friendship Faire at Magic Kingdom.
However, we do know that a new daytime show will be coming to Disneys Animal Kingdom! Disney Parks Blog shared the following information regarding Disney KiteTails:
Thereâs also new daytime entertainment stirring at Disneyâs Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Check out this artist rendering of âDisney KiteTails,â which will come alive several times daily at the Discovery River Amphitheater beginning Oct. 1. Performers will fly windcatchers and kites of all shapes and sizes, while out on the water elaborate three-dimensional kites â some stretching to 30 feet long â will depict Disney animal friends, including Simba, Zazu, Baloo and King Louie. These colorful creations will dance through the sky to the beat of favorite Disney songs in an uplifting, vibrant experience for the whole family.

How To Plan For Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebration
Hop over to our post on planning a Walt Disney World trip in 2021 for the most updated details about park reservations, park operations updates and more. Like we mentioned earlier, the Disney Park Pass reservation system is set to be in place until early 2023. That means you need to make your hotel and your park reservations in addition to general park admission. Having hotel reservations without park reservations will leave you out of the park.
Park hopping returned Jan. 1, 2021, so take that into consideration if you’re planning a 50th-anniversary trip! You only need to make a Park Pass reservation for the first park you plan on visiting since the second park is subject to capacity limitations, we’d suggest making your Disney Park Pass reservation for the park you’d most like to visit if you’ll be hopping. Remember, Magic Kingdom is the most in-demand park for this soiree, so if it’s a must-do for your fam, we recommend making a park reservation to secure your spot rather than planning to hop over.
Here are some of our other tips and tricks when heading to the 50th:
The “World’s Most Magical Celebration” lasts 18 magical months, and we can’t wait to keep this party going keep hopping back, as we’ll continue to add details as more are released. Hoppy 50th, Disney World!
Spaceship Earths Beacon Of Magic
Dont walk, but run to see the Beacon of Magic of Epcot! Yes, its that good.
Each park icon all glow each evening with special 50th projections and lighting deemed Beacons of Magic.
The mini-shows run every 15 minutes for about a minute or so, except for Spaceship Earths Beacon of Magic.
If you didnt know, Imagineers transformed Spaceship Earth by adding Points of Light all over the attractions exterior.
The new nighttime lights that resemble stars in the nighttime sky add to the Beacon of Magic in all the right ways. Plus, the show runs for about 3 minutes!
In even better news, the points of light are now a permanent fixture and will continue beyond the 50th celebration. Heres hoping the Beacon of Magic show sticks around too.
No matter how many times Ive seen this, I still get emotional watching it. The music and lighting will seriously blow your mind. This is truly one of the greatest additions Epcot has seen in a long time.

Walt Disney 50th Anniversary Entertainment
As anybody knows, the best way to celebrate anything is with fireworks, twinkle lights, and kites? Well, Disney World has all of it during The Worlds Most Magical Celebration.
Beacons of Magic
While you wont see the Tower of Terror draped with ribbons or a gem-encrusted Tree of Life anytime soon, each theme park icon will go through an enchanting moonlit transformation called Beacons of Magic. Through the technological wizardry that is projection mapping, park icons get a nighttime makeover on select nights with an EARidscent upgrade of their very own.
Magic Kingdoms Cinderella Castle sparkles and shines with pixie dust. Epcots Spaceship Earth glistens with possibility and optimism and a little bit of stardust. After all, as Carl Sagan once said, were made of star stuff. Tower of Terror at Disneys Hollywood Studios twinkles with the glitz and glamour of the golden age of Tinseltown. And Animal Kingdoms Tree of Life glows with the fire of a thousand fireflies.
Each nighttime display is set to a new song called The Magic Is Calling. This anthemic song is also used during Mickeys Celebration Cavalcade and has been arranged for a number of Disney World performing groups like the Dapper Dans, Main Street Philharmonic, Voices of Liberty, and Discovery Island Drummers.

Special Disney World Anniversary Dining
Another hallmark of any special Disney event is limited-time dining, from themed snacks and sips to dessert parties and dinner packages. At the theme parks, hotels, and Disney Springs, as with any other holiday or special event, there is a cornucopia of tasty treats and celebratory beverages to choose from , with each destination getting a special 50th anniversary menu. Think, classic theme park favorites with a festive twist and a splash of inspiration from Walt Disney himself at Magic Kingdom and global flavors with pixie dust pizzazz at Epcot.
Disney 50th Anniversary Dessert Parties, Fireworks Cruises & Dinner Packages
Another exciting announcement is the return of Disney fireworks dessert parties, cruises, and dinner packages. These Appetizing Occasions will take place during Disney Enchantment at Magic Kingdom and Harmonious at Epcot.
Inside the park, guests can choose from three different Magic Kingdom 50th Fireworks Dessert Parties for Disney Enchantment: a Pre-Party, Treats & Seats, and an After-Party. Regardless of which seating you choose, all guests enjoy a selection of anniversary-inspired sweets, cheeses, and drinks, including beer and wine. And as for where youll actually watch the fireworks, those at the Treats & Seats party will enjoy the show from Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant, while guests at the Pre-Party and After-Party will get reserved fireworks seating in one of the plaza gardens.

New Experiences And Attractions For Disney World’s 50th Anniversary
What better time to open new rides and attractions than during the Worlds Most Magical Celebration? Over at EPCOT, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure shrinks you down to Chef Remys size as you race through Gusteaus restaurant on a wild adventure. This addition to France is fun for all ages!
With an 18-month celebration ahead, there are still lots of new experiences planned to look forward to. Heres a look at new rides and attractions set to open:
- Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Join the Guardians of the Galaxy on an adventure across the cosmos. The storytelling coaster rotates 360 degrees to focus your attention on the action. If you were wondering where the rewind comes in, this is the first reverse launch on a Disney coaster.
- PLAY! Pavilion In this digital metropolis, youll discover an interactive city bursting with games, activities and experiences that connect you with friends, family and beloved Disney characters like never before. Help fashion icon Edna Mode on her quest to rid the world of uninspired style, or make a splash competing in a water-balloon fight hosted by Huey, Dewey, Louie and Webby.
- Originally, TRON Lightcycle Power Run coaster was supposed to open at Magic Kingdom in time for Disney World’s anniversary, but that ride does not have an opening date on the calendar just yet. The park has hit “pause” on construction so we do not expect to see that coaster opening as planned.
Special Events For Disney Worlds 50th Anniversary Celebration
Disney World announced the 50th anniversary will bring new makeovers to the theme park icons Cinderella Castle, Tower of Terror, Spaceship Earth, and The Tree of Life.
Additionally, Guests will be able to enjoy the first-ever interactive character statues featuring beloved Disney Parks characters.
The âFab 50â sculptures will showcase Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck, Donald Duck, Pluto, Goofy, and precocious chipmunks Chip and Dale. Disney Parks Blog noted:
These eight friends will also be featured in special golden character sculptures debuting Oct. 1 at Magic Kingdom Park in this artist rendering, you can see Mickey and Minnie shining in the sunlight near Cinderella Castle. There will be 50 characters total in this series of sculptures that will be displayed across all four theme parks. Weâll soon reveal more of the âDisney Fab 50â as excitement builds for the big day, as well as the surprising ways youâll be able to interact with these beautiful sculptures as part of the 50th anniversary celebration.

What Attractions Are Opening Soon At Walt Disney World
Remys Ratatouille Adventure officially opened on October 1 as part of the 50th Anniversary Celebration.
Plus, the France pavilion saw the opening of a new restaurant, La Crêperie de Paris. This new restaurant offers both a quick & table service option .
And, finally, Mickeys PhilharMagic is getting spruced up for the 50th with a brand-new scene based around Disneys popular animated movie Coco, which officially debuted on Nov. 12, 2021.
Disney World 50th Anniversary What Were Hoping For
A new parade. While a new cavalcade has been announced, were still hopeful that 18 months is long enough for Disney to decide to bring in a new parade. Along with the two new coasters, this would be a good way to avoid people getting fatigued with a lengthy celebration.
More new nighttime entertainment. While we know Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom will be getting some night time touches, we think both could use full new nighttime shows. The Hollywood Studios hodgepodge of projection shows and Fantasmic is fine, but Fantasmic is an old enough show in a grand enough theater that a replacement could be in order.
Similarly, Animal Kingdom had the mix of Tree of Life Awakenings and Rivers of Light, but the latter is now permanently ended, so the park seriously needs a feature nighttime show.

What Kind Of Park Reservations Will Be Required For Walt Disney Worlds 50th Anniversary
When Walt Disney World reopened to the public in July 2020, Disney put multiple new health protocols in place in order to operate safely during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. One of those new safety protocols is a brand new Disney Park Pass system which requires Guests to book a theme park reservation in advance.
This new system requires those who wish to visit a Walt Disney World theme park â including Magic Kingdom, Disneyâs Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, or Disneyâs Animal Kingdom â to have both a valid ticket as well as a reservation for the park you wish to visit on that day. The Park Pass system allowed Guests to book any theme park for any day all the way through January 2023.
Therefore, a theme park ticket and a Park Pass reservation will be required to enter any of the four theme parks during the 50th anniversary celebration.
