Whats The Difference Between Star Wars: Galaxys Edge In Orlando And Anaheim
For all intents and purposes, the Disney World and Disneyland Star Wars lands are nearly identical. The rides, restaurants, shops, and even the layouts are virtually the same. Chances are, if you visited Star Wars: Galaxys Edge at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, you wouldnt even notice the differences, but here are a few:
- In Disneyland, there are three entrances to Galaxys Edge, while Disney World only has two.
- Ogas Cantina is the only place in Galaxys Edge where you can purchase alcohol, which means only non-alcoholic blue and green milk are available at the Milk Stand.
- There are slight menu differences at Docking Bay 7 and Ronto Roasters, too.

All The Spoilers For Star Wars: Rise Of The Resistance
*****Spoilers Start Here! Proceed at Your Own Risk! *****
If you havent gone to the Disney parks in the last two years to ride for yourself and want to avoid spoilers, stop here. But if you want all the details or simply want to re-live the attraction if youve already experienced it, heres a complete spoiler filled play-by-play. Weve broken the attraction up into sections, starting with the queue.
Overview And Location Of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge At Walt Disney World
If the name is any indication, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is literally on the edge of Disney’s Hollywood Studios, opposite the park’s entrance and adjacent to Toy Story Land. There are two entrances to the land. You can enter either through Toy Story Land or Grand Avenue .
From either entrance, watch as the landscape begin to change, welcoming you to someplace far, far away. Guests will find themselves in the Black Spire Outpost on the planet of Batuu. This once-thriving settlement is now home to smugglers, rogue traders, droids and other strange creatures trying to stay out of sight of the First Order. The remote outpost takes its name from the petrified spires that were once ancient, towering trees surrounding the river valleys and plains. As a fellow traveler, you’ll be able to visit a street market, shop in the food stalls and enjoy treats such as Blue Milk or head over to Oga’s Cantina for a drink.

Jedi Training: Trials Of The Temple
On December 1, 2015, Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and was a successor attraction to Jedi Training Academy, a live show guest experience based on the Jedi teachings found in the Star Wars series with new characters from Star Wars: Rebels. The attraction later opened at other Disney locations – on December 8, 2015, at Disneyland, on July 11, 2015, at Disneyland Park Paris and on June 25, 2016, at Hong Kong Disneyland, as part of its 10th anniversary celebration. It’s located next to Star ToursThe Adventures Continue in the Echo Lake area at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, at the Tomorrowland Terrace in Disneyland, inside Videopolis in Discoveryland at Disneyland Park Paris and at the original UFO Zone area in Hong Kong Disneyland.
A group of children goes through the training with the Jedi master and a Jedi Apprentice . Then, the group uses the force to open the doors to the Temple. Darth Vader comes out, followed by The Seventh Sister. Each trainee on the upper platform fights Vader, while each trainee on the lower platform fights The Seventh Sister from Star Wars: Rebels. After each trainee has faced off with a villain, Vader and The Seventh Sister turn to leave. Right before they would go through the doors, they turn around to seemingly fight again. The Jedi Master then leads the trainees in using the Force to push The Seventh Sister and Vader back into the Temple.
Two New Ways To Ride Rise Of The Resistance At Disneyland
Now that the virtual queue is gone, what are the current methods for actually getting on the ride? They are actually pretty straightforward and simple: 1) a standby line and 2) the Lightning Lane.
Standby Line. The standby line is exactly what it sounds like and what Disney goers have stood in for many decades. Anyone can get into this line, and everyone gets to ride as long as they are willing to wait. For Rise, that wait is pretty long usually one of the longest waits for any ride in the Disneyland Resort.
Lightning Lane. The Lightning Lane, however, is brand new at Disneyland as of December 8, 2021. Lightning Lane is one of several offerings that replace Disneylands previous cut-the-line services, Fastpass and MaxPass. What used to be the Fastpass line for attractions has been rebranded into the Lightning Lane and is a way to access many rides with much shorter waits.
There are now two different ways to access Lightning Lanes, depending on what attraction you are planning to ride. Most rides at Disneyland are part of a service called Disney Genie+ where guests pay $20 per day to be able to book return times to a number of popular attractions.
There are a few very popular rides that are not on Disney Genie+. Instead, guests can only use the Lightning Lane for these attractions by paying a separate a la carte fee. These attractions are sometimes called Individual Attraction Selection or paid Lightning Lane.

Talk With Cast Members
Embrace your journey through Planet of Batuu and speak to those living on this planet. Did you know that each cast member has his own fictional backstory? Youre missing out if you dont take some time to visit with a few of them.
There are several ways to get their attention. Use the language and youre sure to stand out among the crowds. Here are four phases you can try:
1) Instead of Good day, say Bright suns.
2) Dont say Good evening. Instead, use Rising moons.
3) Want to say Til we meet again? Say Til the Spire.
4) Instead of Good luck, say Good run.
Youll want to keep your eye out for the stormtroopers walking around theyve been known to interrogate guests of Planet Batuu. You can also find Chewbacca, Rey and Kylo Ren inside the park.
Star Wars Characters At Hollywood Studios
At Star Wars Galaxys Edge, you will come across various character that roam the land. These include: First Order Officers, First Order Storm Troopers, Rey, Chewbacca, Resistance Spies and Kylo Ren.
The characters are a great addition to Galaxys Edge adding to the immersive experience.
Prior to restrictions at the Disney World Parks you could meet and have a photo with Chewbacca, Kylo Ren, BB8 and Darth Vader at Star Wars Launch Bay located in the Animation Courtyard at Hollywood Studios. Launch Bay also has various Star Wars props and models on display which as a big Star Wars fan myself has always been a must see part of Hollywood Studios.

Of course, the star attractions of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Walt Disney World are the rides. Being one of the pilots on the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run is basically a life-changing experience. But Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance toadally rocked my world in the best way possible. You can’t visit Galaxy’s Edge without experiencing these epic attractions!
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
Ready to ride the fastest ship in the galaxy? Not so fast! Before you board, you’ll walk through a full-size replica of the Millennium Falcon. This is one queue you don’t want to skip! Can you imagine climbing through the hatch and walking through the hallways before you finally arrive to take a seat inside the cockpit? I’m getting goosebumps just thinking about it! Try not to get too distracted because there is a mission. Space pirate Hondo Ohnaka of “Clone Wars” and “Star Wars Rebels” fame has cut a deal with Chewbacca for use of the Falcon. He will lead you on a secret mission to bring back the loot as you hurl through hyperspace.
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run uses real-time video technology that will respond to the way you use the cockpit controls. Here’s the TLDR: You’ll see the real-time results of your mission, so make it count! With the cockpit allowing six people, you will be matched with another party. If you have a larger group, you’ll be split up. The FastPass+ line is currently unavailable, but the Single Rider line has recently returned.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is an impressive creation. For fans who want to live a Star Wars experience, it’s something unique. But Walt Disney World is looking to take things to a whole new level in 2022. That’s when Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will open. The Starcruiser is a hotel and a completely immersive Star Wars experience all rolled into one. You’ll spend two nights “on board” the Starcruiser Halcyon with a host of unique experiences available to you. You can spend two days playing a character within the galaxy far, far, away, or just enjoy the experience as if you were on board an intergalactic cruise ship. A lot about this experience is still to be revealed, but it promises to be a “must do” experience for any Star Wars fan.
This is everything you’ll find at Walt Disney World surrounding Star Wars, now and for the foreseeable future. Having said that, we know that Walt Disney Imagineering already has ideas about what a Phase 2 of Galaxy’s Edge would look like, so this is almost certainly just the beginning of Star Wars at Walt Disney World.
