Dressing For Disney World In March
Shorts, capris and long pants: They’re all reasonable options for visiting Disney World in March. Because a 60-degree day might be followed by an 80-degree day, the smartest way to pack for the trip is to bring a few pairs of shorts and a few pairs of pants in a lightweight material like cotton twill.
Plan to start and end the day in a T-shirt or tank top layered under a sweatshirt or jacket. At this time of year, the middle of the day is usually warm enough to comfortably walk around with bare arms, so wearing a removable layer is the best strategy. Pack sunglasses, sunscreen and a poncho in your day bag to prepare for all possibilities.
Disney World Universal Orlando Ending Temperature Checks
ORLANDO, Fla. As more Americans get vaccinated, cases drop and restrictions are loosened around the country, Orlando theme parks have begun reducing COVID-19 safety protocols.
Walt Disney World announced they will be removing mandatory temperature checks from theme park entrances, beginning for cast members on Saturday and then for guests on May 16.
Universal Orlando will not only remove temperature check stations, but also reduce social distancing requirements. Effective Thursday, guests will no longer have their temperature checked before entering the property and the social distancing markers will be removed from 6 feet to 3 feet.
While these changes are taking place, the theme parks don’t have plans to end their mask mandates.
Any guest 2 or older will still have to wear a face covering at the theme parks. Guests can only take off their masks to eat or drink or to take an outdoor photo.

Disney World Weather Cheat Sheet: Average Temperatures And Rainfall

Sometimes I will book a vacation only after checking to see what month have desirable average temperatures and lowest average rainfall amounts. For other trips, our dates might not be flexible, but I always check average temps and rainfall amounts before packing our bags.
I figured if I was looking for this info for our upcoming Disney trip, you might be interested in it as you plan your vacation!
We have traveled to Disney World during pretty much every kind of weather. We have been there in the extreme hot, on a cold winter day, and on those days when blue skies turn to gray in seconds flat and the rain seems to explode from the sky. Some rain showers pass through quickly while others linger.
Two things that we NEVER forget to pack in our Disney World bag: ponchos and sweatshirts. The rain can pop up without warning and many days after the sun sets, the weather can turn chilly .
I grabbed these stats right from Weather.com.
Average Monthly High Temperatures for Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, FL:
Preparing For A December Or January Trip
All of December and the first week or two of January are very popular times to visit Disney World, so travelers hoping to avoid the crowds should look at the latter half of January. Because tickets and hotel rooms are most expensive at the most crowded times, traveling in late January is cheaper than visiting earlier in the holiday season.
No matter when your visit is planned, pack mostly long pants or capris. Apart from the occasional warm spell, the Disney World weather is typically too cold for most people to feel comfortable in shorts. Carry or wear a warm sweatshirt or warm jacket each day. A warm layer is especially necessary after sunset, which happens between 5:30 and 6 p.m. this time of year. It gets cold after dark, which is also when visitors gather to watch fireworks or a light show. If you’re underdressed, standing around outdoors on a cold night is not fun.
Pack sunscreen and sunglasses, too. Even when the air temperature is cool, the Florida sun beats down on Disney World.

Christmas Season At Walt Disney World
First, we have a post specifically about Christmas at Walt Disney World that will answer more of your questions. Secondyes, it really is that magical a time of year. Whatever the drawbacks of visiting during the holiday season, Disney makes the experience worth the trouble.
By December, Christmas celebrations are in full swing. Hotel decorations are all up. Magic Kingdoms ticketed Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party / Very Merriest After Hours has dates throughout the month, and all four parks are transformed for the holiday season.
While the christmas party is the flagship event of the season, the other parks have noteworthy ongoing events as well:
Weather At Disney World In September
If there is one drawback to September, it’s the weather. While temperatures are on the decline, the average high remains 90 degrees with high rainfall chances. It’s quite likely you will encounter an afternoon shower in September. But the good news is that it generally clears up after an hour or two. You can still have fun on a rainy day at Disney World!

Quick Thoughts On December 2022
Our favorite week of the year. The first full week of Decemberbeginning around December 4 in 2022is our favorite week of the year. Youre post-Thanksgiving crowds and pre-Christmas crowds, with perfect weather, crowds, and prices and the holidays in full swing.
50th Anniversary Celebrations ongoing! The 50th Anniversary Celebrations will be in full swing.
Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind will likely be open. The new Guardians of the Galaxy Coaster is confirmed for summer 2022. November is well after summer, so we expect the new coaster to be open by now, and we expect that any short term Guardians-related crowd surge should have passed.
TRON will likely be open. With Guardians confirmed for summer 2022 and TRON still having no opening date, late-2022 is our best guess. This opening will bring a surge in crowds.
Expect other small updates, too. Festival of Fantasy is confirmed to return to Magic Kingdom some time in 2022, and a new cavalcade is coming to Magic Kingdom in early 2022. Id expect both of these well before December.
What To Wear To Disney World In February
Though not as important as in other months, you still will want to dress in layers at Disney World in February. The problem is the mornings and evenings are much cooler than the daytime, which makes it hard to know what clothes to pack in your bag.
We recommend bringing a long pants, a jacket, sweaters and long-sleeves for the mornings and evenings, and wearing a t-shirt underneath so you can remove those layers in the middle of the day. You probably wont need a scarf or gloves, but you never know.
Weather can be unpredictable, so a few days before leaving for your trip, make sure to look up the weather forecast for the days you will on vacation. This will give you a better idea of how many long-sleeved shirts you need and if you want to pack your shorts.
With bigger clothes, you will need a larger suitcase in February than if you were going in the Summer when all you need are shorts and t-shirts. You might need a change of clothes when you go out at night and the temperature drops.
Go ahead and bring aswimsuit or two because if the temperature warms up enough you might get an opportunity to go in the pool or hot tub.
There will be a lot of sunshine, so make sure to pack enough sunscreen and a hat for shade. Since there is always the chance of a passing shower, bring your own ponchos from home and save a bunch of money.

Walt Disney World To Phase Out Temperature Checks In Coming Days
Theme parks to drop temperature checks
Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort on Wednesday announced that they will be discontinuing temperature checks for employees and guests.
LAKE MARY, Fla. – Walt Disney World Resort on Wednesday announced that it will phase out onsite temperature screenings for employees beginning May 8 and for guests on May 16.
Disney said it is making adjustments with the support of local health and government officials as guidance from health experts continues to evolve.
“Since reopening, we have considered guidance from public health authorities, government agencies, and our own team of health and safety experts as we assess and update health and safety measures to help prevent the spread of COVID-19,” Disney posted on its website. “We will continue to follow the guidance of health and safety leaders going forward and most importantly encourage people to get vaccinated.”
Disney implemented the temperature screenings upon reopening last July after being shut down for months because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Park guests and employees are still encouraged to check temperatures before leaving home, as an extra layer of precaution.
Disney’s announcement came on the same day that Universal Orlando Resort said it will phase out onsite temperature screenings for employees and guests beginning May 6.

Orlando Weather In August
The weather in Disney World in August is much the same as the weather in July but just a bit warmer and more humid. August is the hottest month of the year so youll want to be prepared!
The average high temperature for Disney World weather in August is 90°F and the average low is 75°F.
Thats 32°C for the high and 25°C for the low.
Looking hot and frazzled
For all of these reasons, August is my least favorite month of the year to visit Disney World. However, the end of August brings some very low hotel rates and low crowds if you are willing to brave the weather conditions!
I suggest frequent breaks in AC, a visit to the pool in the afternoon to cool off, and lots of sun protection such as light-colored clothing and a sun hat.
Heres what to pack to be prepared for Disney World in August:
- Light-colored t-shirts and tank tops
- Shorts or skirts
- Sun hat and good sunscreen
- Poncho or umbrella

Overview Of February 2021 In Disney World
In general, February is one of our favorite times of the year to visit Disney World. In fact, we love visiting during this time especially the first half of the month when the crowds are less and wait times are low.
Its a lot like going to Walt Disney World in January as the two months have many things in common.
The big reason to go in February is the price and thankfully that is an even bigger reason this year. Disney is offering some nice discounts on hotel rooms and vacation packages due to the low crowds.
There is no doubt however, that visiting this year is much different than going in years past. Even over the past few months things have changed quite a bit and you need to be able to be prepared. Slowly we are seeing the parks returning to normal, even though there is still a long way to go.
Were going to give you a brief summary but for a more detailed overview of what is different, read our Disney World Reopening Guide where we go into more detail.
Park Hopping is back at Disney World once again, which means you are no longer limited to just one park per day. Weve been able to get reservations for a second park pretty easily so it shouldnt be difficult during your trip either.
News Safety Guidelines Some of the new guidelines include face masks, keeping 6-feet of distance between guests, distanced ride queues, and temperature screening. These are in place all over Disney World, in the theme parks, hotels, and restaurants.
Average Monthly Temperature Rainfall And Daylight Hours
While Orlando typically experiences nice weather year-round, temperatures, rainfall totals, and daylight hours can plummet in the winter and skyrocket in the summer at Disney World. Air Temperature Is A Lie
The first thing I learned is that temperatures are measured in the shade, not in the sun. So when your iPhone weather app says its going to be 95 in Orlando tomorrow, itll be 95 in the shade. Its worth pointing out that most of Walt Disney World isnt, you know, cool shaded pathways. Its worth asking how much hotter itll be in the sun.
To answer that question we enlisted the help of TouringPlans own Brandon Glover, to serve as our ceremonial rotisserie chicken. We equipped Brandon with two digital thermometers one white and one black to measure the temperature youd feel standing in direct sunlight and wearing light or dark clothes. And we sent Brandon to the Magic Kingdom.
Here are the temperatures Brandon recorded at various places around the Magic Kingdom, and their difference to the air temperature as reported by WeatherUnderground:
Not sure whats happening with that Stitch measurement. I suspect aliens. Outside of that, though, the temperature youll feel in the sun averages 2.2 degrees warmer than reported, and up to 8 degrees warmer in some places.

Best Times To Visit Walt Disney World Based On The Weather
There are a ton of things to consider when deciding when to visit Walt Disney World. Everything from work and school schedules to crowd levels can impact when you plan your trip, but the weather is an important consideration when deciding the best time to visit Disney.
When you think of Florida, you think of warm, sunny days, and that is true of Florida weather very often. It is called the Sunshine State! However, there are times of the year when that beautiful sunshine is sweltering! And, believe it or not, there are some times downright chilly! Check out this information on weather at different times of the year, and how that can impact your vacation plans.
Average Low: 48
Average High: 72
The chilly weather may mean you need a jacket, but you should not be sweating while wandering the parks. The cooler temperatures make it easier to stay in the parks longer, as they are less draining than intense heat. Many water attractions, like Splash Mountain, may be closed for refurbishments during this time of year due to the cooler temperatures. Typically, only one of the water parks will be open through the winter months. It is occasionally possible to swim despite the cool weather because all of Disneys pools are heated.
