What Is The Best Walt Disney World Resort

Best Disney Resort Hotel For Multigenerational Family Vacations

Top 5 Walt Disney World Resorts

Families looking for a hotel that appeals to multiple generations should try Disneys Beach Club Resort . This deluxe-level hotel has one of the best pools at Walt Disney World, Stormalong Bay, a sandy-bottom pool with three different lagoon areas, a waterslide, and a shipwreck. Disneys Beach Club is inspired by 19th century New England beach cottages, and older generations will appreciate the one- and two-bedroom home-away-from-home vacation villas.

Theres easy theme park access to Epcot and Hollywood Studios by boat, as well as bus transportation to the Magic Kingdom and Disneys Animal Kingdom. After a day at the theme park, indulge in a decadent treat at Beaches & Cream Soda Shop, where families can share the Kitchen Sink, eight scoops of ice cream smothered in every topping you can find.

Magicbands Arent Free Anymore

One of the first changes that youll notice if you havent stayed at a Disney World hotel in the past year and a half or so is that MagicBands are no longer complimentary. Disney discontinued this service in January 2021 and now resort guests must purchase their own MagicBand if they would like to use one. But, there is still some benefit to staying at a Disney hotel becauseguests can select a discounted MagicBand up to 10 days prior to their trip.

If youd prefer not to pay for a MagicBand, you can still receive a complimentary Key To The World card or you can use the new MagicMobile feature in the My Disney Experience app that essentially turns your phone into your MagicBand. And, dont forget that you can also reuse MagicBands from previous visits too all you have to do is ensure that its linked to your My Disney Experience account and bring it with you!

Determining The Best Time To Visit Disney World In 2022 And 2023

It should come as no surprise that the best time to visit Disney World has historically fallen along with school schedules, which is to say, the best time to visit is generally when the kids are in school. Generally, any time there is a school holiday, there will be bigger crowds at Disney World. The , even virtual school, for Disney is toadally personal, and we frogs have a no-judgment policy.

When planning the best time to visit Disney World, we recommend you check our Crowd Calendar. The yearly, monthly and daily crowd levels are right there for you to see, along with individual park recommendations and park hours. Park hours are important and should be factored in when deciding when to visit Orlando. This is because when crowd levels are lowest, park hours are the shortest. Also, key shows, such as Disney Enchantment at Magic Kingdom, aren’t always shown daily when crowd levels are lowest. When crowd levels are highest, the parks generally open earlier and close later, and key entertainment might have two showtimes each evening.

Contemporary Resort: Chef Mickeys

If youre looking for a meal that tastes OK and also keeps your kids occupied, look to Chef Mickeys inside the Contemporary Resort. This is one of the best combinations of food and kid-oriented fun, as long as you arent looking for quiet.

It normally offers a buffet-style meal. Right now its open for breakfast and dinner. Food is served family-style at a price of $42 for adults and $27 for kids at breakfast and $55 for adults and $36 per child for dinner.

Breakfast includes everything from eggs, bacon and sausage to salmon, Mickey waffles and the famous loaded potato-cheese casserole.

Dinner consists of options such as baby shrimp, potato gnocchi, prime rib, salmon and an assortment of desserts.

While youre dining, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto and Goofy dance around to music and keep your children mesmerized. We dined for an hour once at Chef Mickeys and our kids didnt complain one bit.

Best Restaurant In Epcot: Via Napoli

6 Best Reasons to Stay at a Deluxe Resort at Walt Disney World

Dont worry, we arent going to only list restaurants you cant go to right now. While Takumi Tei takes our best of the best category, well add another great Epcot option here that is actually open Via Napoli.

Via Napoli is located in the heart of Italy in Epcot.

This longstanding favorite may have slipped a notch since opening, but it still features legitimate Italian food that would pass muster in New York Citys Little Italy. The prices are reasonable by Disney standards, with most entrées at or under $30. Pizzas are more expensive than you might hope , but good for sharing as a large can serve a family of three or four. The Piccante Pizza with added pepperoni is a great choice.

For now, you will need to make reservations due to capped capacity, but sometimes there is a walk-up window to order a slice if you are in a pinch.

Disneys Pop Century Resort

Giant yo-yos, floppy discs and mood rings adorn the buildings and will bring back a wave of nostalgia for parents and a deluge of questions from kids like, Whats an 8-track, Mommy?

The layout of Disneys Pop Century is very similar to the property just across the lake, Art of Animation. Theres a central building with check-in, bus stops, shopping and a cafeteria-style food court. The main pool, the Hippy Dippy Pool, is just outside. Unlike the Moderate and Deluxe resorts, you wont find slides or heavy theming in the pool areas.

The low-rise buildings spread across the complex are themed for different decades. The guest rooms are small but make efficient use of space with a fold-up Murphy bed that converts into a desk when not in use. All the rooms have been refreshed, so you wont have to worry about really old carpeting and funky smells. One highlight is the newer connection to the parks via the Disney Skyliner.

Still, your primary reason for choosing Pop Century probably isnt the 20-foot tall 8-track tapes: Its the price. If the bottom dollar is what youre after, Pop Century is likely one of your top picks. And in that case, enjoy. The Skyliner really does elevate things a notch or two.

Disneys Yacht & Beach Club Resorts

These two resorts are together because when you stay at one of them, you are right next door to the other and have access to the same amenities. The feature pool is also shared by these two resorts, as well as with Disneys Beach Club Villas. They are located in the Epcot resort area, which is my favorite! There are so many advantages to staying at one of these resorts!

Pros: You are close to both Epcot and Disneys Hollywood Studios. To get to Disneys Hollywood Studios, you could take the friendship boats or walk along the path . The Disney Skyliner is also nearby, located at Epcots International Gateway. You can use bus transportation to the other parks. In my opinion, one of the best pools on property Stormalong Bay is found here. The Boardwalk area is very peaceful, with several dining options. The theme of these resorts is also great. Most of the guest rooms sleep up to 5 people, with a few holding more. The deluxe villas can accommodate up to 8 people.

Cons: Sometimes, the buses are shared with other resorts.

What Are Disney Value Resorts

There are 5 Disney Value Resorts in total: All-Star Sports, All-Star Music, All-Star Movies, Pop Century, and Art of Animation.

The latter Art of Animation is considered a Value Plus resort because it is generally priced higher and has slightly better amenities .

If you include The Campsites at Disneys Fort Wilderness Resort, there are actually six Value Resorts. But since this lodging option is so much different than your average resort , we will not be comparing The Campsites on this page.

Here are some of the key features of Disney Value Resorts:

Disney Value resorts are the most affordable, budget-friendly lodging on Disney World property. Disney Moderate Resorts are next, followed by Deluxe as the most expensive in-park option.

While Value Resorts are some of the furthest Walt Disney resorts from the parks, they are still inside the park. This proximity is a clear advantage over any off-site resort.

Like Moderate and Deluxe guests, Disney Value resorts guests receive plenty of perks because they are staying at an on-site, Disney-owned resort.

These privileges include Disney Dining plan eligibility, free parking, priority Disney Genie+reservations, Advance Dining reservations, resort room charging privileges, resort package delivery, and more.

There are plenty of amazing off-site resorts, but these on-site Disney resort perks are a huge plus.

Bus stops are conveniently located in front of each resort.

Best Fancy Meal: Victoria & Alberts

Best Walt Disney World Resorts to Stay at in 2020

If you simply want the best food at Disney World, head for this posh restaurant in Disneys Grand Floridian Resort and Spa.

Just dont expect to roll in straight from the parks, as men must wear dinner jackets and women are expected to don a nice dress, fancy pantsuit or skirt with a blouse. Children under 10 are not permitted. Expect to spend a few hundred dollars on a meal for two. Also, know that as of this update, this high-end joint has yet to reopen.

Until Victoria & Alberts reopens, try California Grill for a relatively upscale meal.

Health And Safety Changes

When Disney World reopened to guests after temporarily closing at the beginning of COVID-19, there were quite a few health and safety changes, and some of them are still around today.

Disneys Beach Club lobby

Online Check-In has been available in the My Disney Experience app since 2017, but now this is the preferred method for checking in. This makes it so that you can completely bypass the front desk, as youll receive a text message when your room is ready and go directly there once you arrive. But, you can still check-in at the front desk if youd prefer.

All-Star Movies Lobby

One of the most notable changes that youll likely notice during your stay is that housekeeping now comes every other day and only does a light cleaning of the room. And, if youre a Disney Vacation Club Member using your membership to stay, youll receive cleanings even less, on the 4th and 8th days . The light cleaning for rooms includes removal of trash and used towels, replenishment of towels and amenities throughout the room and bathroom, wiping and cleaning of the vanity and counter surfaces, and vacuuming if needed.

You can also decline this service at check-in if youd prefer housekeeping not to enter your room at all.

Enhanced Cleaning Details

In-room celebrations are also not being offered and room service is limited to very select hotels. Plus, while Club-Level is coming back to many Disney Resort hotels, there are still many that remain closed and have reopening dates well into 2022.

All Star Sports Resort

All-Star Sports is definitely the least Disney of the resorts because the icons are all sports-inspired.

Youll find a few Disney characters scattered about, but it just doesnt have the appeal of any of the other Value Resorts .

It does boast a newly remodeled food court .

You can get a sense for whats on the menu in the food court here but keep in mind this menu isnt complete and youll find more options than those listed.

The main Feature pool is surfing inspired and it very large. Even so, it can get crowded and loud.

Its second pool is baseball-themed with Goofy winding up for a pitch in the center.

Be aware that All Star Sports does tend to get noisy and chaotic with cheer and sports teams often staying here.

Disney’s Beach Club Resort

2020 Standard Room Rates: $487 – $846

Beach Club falls into this spot sort of by default. If you dont like the look of the new Yacht Club rooms, Beach Club allows you to keep the perks of Stormalong Bay and location while reverting to an older room type.

You could just as easily swap Beach Club and Boardwalk on this list with the reasoning that the rooms arent significantly different between the two, and Beach Club has Stormalong Bay and a lower price.

Because it is part of a larger complex with Yacht Club, covered a ton above, we dont have much more to say about Beach Club. The theming is different, but this only matters for the three minutes per day youll have to spend in this building. If you really want to enjoy Yacht Clubs theming, just walk the three minutes over there.

Best Disney World Deluxe Resorts

Largest Hotels In The World

Disneys deluxe hotels arent the right fit for every trip, but theres no doubt that these resorts deserve their place on pretty much every Disney travelers bucket list. In this post, we discuss the deluxe resorts, including the basic things to know about them, reasons to stay at deluxe resorts, and, of course, the ranking of all eight of Disney Worlds deluxe resorts!

Weve reorganized our hotel content to be more targeted for what readers specifically want in a given post. It used to be all in a single post, and that was unwieldy and messy. Besides the reviews of every hotel , we now have the following posts:

& 7 Disneys Beach Club Resort And Disneys Yacht Club Resort

These sister resorts share the dubious distinction of coming in last place on our list, but as noted above, that doesnt mean theres anything wrong with them. In fact, the Beach Clubs serene theme modeled after the seaside cottages of Newport, Rhode Island, circa the 19th century provides as relaxing an atmosphere as one can find in Walt Disney World, while the Yacht Clubs New England nautical-theme echoes the best of Marthas Vineyard.

The resorts feature all the amenities guests expect of a Deluxe Resort. They share what is arguably the Worlds best pool, the Stormalong Bay pool complex which includes sand-bottom pools, a circular lazy river, waterfall, and the Shipwreck waterslide a convention center, and numerous restaurants including the Cape May Cafe, Yachtsman Steakhouse, and highly-acclaimed Beaches & Cream Soda Shop. However, because the two hotels share so much infrastructure, it becomes hard to look at them as individual hotels, which hurts their overall rankings on our list.

Best Disney World Moderate Resorts

Disneys moderate hotels are a small collection of resorts that bridge the price and stylistic gaps between the value and deluxe resorts. In this post, we discuss the moderate resorts, including the basic things to know about them, reasons to stay at moderate resorts, and, of course, the ranking of all four of Disney Worlds moderate resorts!

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

Best for: Families, couples

On-site amenities: Multiple pools, tennis, volleyball, boat rentals, fishing, bars, fine dining, and casual restaurants.

Cons: The resort is refined and may not be as enticing for children compared to some of the other resort options.

Located alongside Disney’s Boardwalk, which is teeming with dining and nightlife, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is an ideal match for guests looking for a relaxed yet sophisticated experience with easy access to other attractions.

Inspired by classic New England-style yacht clubs, this waterfront hotel features tasteful nautical touches and a sand-bottom pool.
