Port Orleans Riverside Pro & Con
Advantages – Fountains, architecture, and landscaping make this a very pretty resort that gives a relaxing feel to your vacation. Northern guests may enjoy the very southern feel of this resort. Boat transportation to Downtown Disney opens up a lot of shopping, entertainment, and dining options. Moderate resorts have mini-refrigerators and coffee makers in the rooms. Bob Jackson performs most Wednesday – Saturday evenings in the River Roost lounge and is a lot of fun! Carriage rides, cane pole fishing, and Surrey Bike rentals round out the entertainment options. The pool has a water slide. The resort is also home to Bayou Pirate Adventure Cruises for children aged 4 – 12 years old . The princess themed “Royal Guest” rooms are very popular and very cute.
Disadvantages – Port Orleans Riverside resort shares buses with neighboring Port Orleans French Quarter. The resort is quite large so it is a good idea to include a room location request with your reservation. There are “preferred location” rooms available at an additional cost these are located in the Alligator Bayou area and are worth the cost, if it is within your budget.

Can You See Fireworks From Port Orleans Resort
Kind of, although we wouldnt recommend it. Unless youre talking about those fiber optic fireworks on Royal Guest Room headboards, anyway. Depending on where you are in the resort, it is possible to see parts of the theme park fireworks. However, the majority of the show will be blocked by trees. If you must see the fireworks but you dont want to go into the parks, we recommend watching the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the beach at the Polynesian Village Resort and the Epcot fireworks from Disneys BoardWalk near Jellyrolls and the Atlantic Dance Hall or just past the ESPN Club from the bridge that connects the BoardWalk to the Beach Club.
Well yall, that concludes our review of Disneys Port Orleans Resort Riverside. Overall, we love this sprawling resort for its charming design, delicious dining outlets, great outdoor recreational activities, and, of course, budget-friendly room rates.

Good Rooms At Disney’s Port Orleans Resort
TouringPlans offers pictures of the view from any Disney resort room on property.
Riverside is so large that we use bicycles whenever we work there. All told, there are 20guest-room buildings . Divided into two sections, Alligator Bayou and Magnolia Bend, the resort is arrayed around two pine groves and a watercourse that Disney calls the Sassagoula River. Magnolia Bend consists of four three-story, grand plantationstyle complexes named Acadian House, Magnolia Terrace, Oak Manor, and Parterre Place. Though Magnolia Bend is on the river, only about 15% of the guest rooms have an unobstructed view of the water. The vast majority of rooms overlook a courtyard or parking lot. Trees and other vegetation block the view of many rooms actually facing the river.
The best views in Magnolia Bend are from the third floor river side of Acadian House , which overlooks the river and Ol Man Island: rooms 84178419.
Good Rooms in Building 14 of the Alligator Bayou Building 1 is also a short walk to the lobby and food court. Good views in Building 1 include rooms 1412-1417 1444-1448, which face a river.
Bad views in Building 14 include:
- Rooms 1401-1409, 1433-1442, which face a parking lot.
- Room 1413, 1421, 1428, 1445, 1453 and 1460, which face a hallway.
