Disneys Polynesian Village Resort
One of two Disney World hotels dating back to the theme park resort’s opening day 50 years ago, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is a guest favorite, loved for its Polynesian-inspired design and proximity to Magic Kingdom Park. The Polynesian Village Resort has great dining options: Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto serves up tiki drinks with a touch of Disney magic, Dole Whips are available at Pineapple Lanai, and guests rave about the breakfast and dinner at ‘Ohana. Visiting the theme parks is easy thanks to the Deluxe hotel’s monorail stop, and you can even spot the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the beach. Recent additions include overwater bungalows and new “Moana”-themed guest rooms.

Best Overall: Disneys Riviera Resort
Disneys Riviera Resort
Disney Worlds newest hotel has luxury amenities, buzzworthy dining, and easy access to the new Skyliner gondola transportation system.
Two pools and a splash pad
Some rooms with only Murphy beds
Less Disney feel
Inspired by Walt Disneys vacations to the South of France, Disneys Riviera Resort is the newest Walt Disney World hotel that opened towards the end of 2019. The hotels luxury feel starts the moment you walk into the gleaming white lobby with its view of the lake beyond and extends to the furthest corners of the resorts outdoor spaces, where youll find gorgeous inlaid murals of scenes from Disney movies like “Tangled.”But overall, the resort feels more like a luxury hotel than a Disney-themed one.
The smallest rooms are Tower Studios which feature pull-down queen Murphy beds and mini-kitchenettes, and the largest are three-bedroom suites with full kitchens and in-room washers and dryers. Three restaurants range from fine character dining at Topolinos Terrace, a rooftop restaurant that has views of the Hollywood Studios fireworks when theyre happening, to quick service at Primo Piatto and Bar Riva, the poolside bar serving small plates. By day, Le Petite Café is a coffee shop by night it becomes a cocktail lounge. Because Riviera has a Skyliner stop, this hotel has especially quick access to Epcot and Hollywood Studios on the new aerial gondola system.

This is the hotel for anyone who has Macchu Picchu on their bucket list!
Check out the Mayan style pool pictured above.
The resort itself is themed in Spanish-colonial Mexico syle, so theres lots of rustic golden and mustard color, water fountains, open air balconies and walkways, and awe-inspiring ceilings with Mexican style lanterns hanging from above.
Plus the kids favorite Tex Mex food!
AND an archaeologically themed playground.
This is one of the best Disney world hotels for families who love to relax in style.
Extra Magic Hours And Fast Passes
Another perk of selecting accommodations from the Disney World resorts list is early theme park entry. Each day, resort guests are admitted up to a half an hour early into any of the four major theme parks. While not as generous as its predecessor, Extra Magic Hours, Early Theme Park Entry does allow you to get on a ride or two with less wait and fewer crowds.
Hands down, one of the best reasons to stay onsite at a Walt Disney World resort hotel is the ability to book FastPass+ ahead of time. With an onsite resort reservation, you can book you can take advantage of a 60-day FastPass booking window, allowing you to pre-book up to three FastPasses prior to your scheduled trip. Guests staying at an offsite resort, only have a 30-day advanced booking window.

Disneys Contemporary Resort is the best Disney hotel for toddlers because its the best Disney hotel Orlando has to offer near the main gates of Magic Kingdom.
That means you can walk back and forth for nap time.
Its also possible to catch the monorail to, and fro, so the location to Magic Kingdom cannot be beat.
Did you know the monorail goes THROUGH Disneys Contemporary Resort?
Where else can you experience that?
Being within walking distance from the main gate is just one reason why this is the best Disney world hotel for toddlers.
Theres also Chef Mickeys, a very fun Disney dining experience.
And views of the Disney fireworks at night!
Transportation At The Value Resorts
All the value resorts have bus transportation to get to all the parks and Disney Springs. Pop Century and Art of Animation have their own buses almost all the time, while the All-Star Resorts share during off-peak times.
Pop Century and Art of Animation also have Disney Skyliner access to Hollywood Studios and Epcot.
The bus situation isdebatable. Weve never been bothered by the sharing at the All-Star Resorts, as it only happens during off-peak hours. And you can walk from Music to Movies with no problem , so this all seems to be splitting hairs.
If you dont mind walkingwe actually enjoy walkingyou can also also take an Art of Animation bus and walk to Pop Century, or vice versa.

I love to shop, dine, relax by the pool with a good book, sip on a Banana Cabana or Pina CoLAVA, and go on walks to take in the resorts decor. The hotel themes and amenities are an important part of my Disney adventures. Lets make sure that your family opts for the hotel that suits your budget and other requirements. Well start today by exploring some of our preferred hotels at Walt Disney World.
Don’t Miss: What To Take To Disney World
Complimentary Transportation To And From Disney Theme Parks
Besides the aesthetics of a Walt Disney World resort, convenience is a huge factor when booking onsite. A Disney World resort hotel stay includes transportation of all kinds, starting right with your trip from the airport. Some of you may not know that the journey from Orlando International airport to Walt Disney World typically takes about 30 minutes. Disneys Magical Express is an airport transportation service included with your onsite stay, allowing you to travel from the airport to your resort in magical style .
Disney will even take care of your bags. All you have to do is check them in at your departure airport, and they will magically arrive in your room. Also, rather than enduring a boring ride to your resort with views of traffic, the Magical Express offers a smooth, comfortable ride with classic cartoons and Disney tips playing on the televisions.
Onsite Disney World resort hotels also offer complimentary park transportation to all 4 main theme parks, the 2 water parks, and Disney Springs. While some offsite hotels offer transportation, and there is always Uber and Lyft, Disneys transportation is the only one that can drop you off right at the entrance to the Magic Kingdom. All guests not arriving by Disney transport options, are required to be dropped off at the Transportation Ticket Center, and then take a monorail or boat to the park.
Disneys Port Orleans Riverside Resort
Port Orleans Riverside wasnt on the top of our list until recently. We had stayed several times in the Alligator Bayou section. While these lodge buildings are quaint, the sprawling walkways were tiresome especially since we always seemed to stay here during rainy days and nights. With no elevators, these buildings were inconvenient for our road trips to Walt Disney World. Maybe we just packed too much stuff.
Mansion section, Magnolia Bend, of Riverside.
This year, we opted for a Royal Guest room and thus, were introduced to the Mansion buildings. Although we still had to navigate in some rain, we fared much better this time. We were finally able to relax and take in the resorts finer aspects: large food court, quaint bar, cozy pool bar, beautiful landscaping, and large store.
Muddy Rivers Pool Bar.
The real downside here remains the multiple bus stops and often chaotic main depot. However, the Sassagoula Riverboat transportation to Disney Springs is extremely convenient.

Which Disney World Resort Hotel Is Right For You A Comprehensive Disney World Resorts List
When it comes to Disney World Resort hotels, there are many options, resulting in a lengthy Disney World Resorts list. Given the number of options, determining which hotel fits your budget, your group or even the location where you want to stay can be challenging.
Disney has 25 immersive, elaborately themed hotels across the property, each one different from the last. They fall into three different categories: Value, Moderate and Deluxe. And while you can find a number of Disney World resort options across Florida, few compare to the convenience and amenities of an onsite property.
To narrow things down, use our handy online tool below to find the best resort for you. Then keep reading to for detailed information and descriptions of each resort.
Should I Choose A Walt Disney World Deluxe Resort
Dave Says.Full disclosure: we are always on a fairly tight budget when we go to Disney World so to pay up for the Deluxe is not without great forethought and some agony. That being said, the Deluxe Resorts in our opinion need to be considered. Our rationale is we want the vacation to be as wonderful as possible and staying at a Deluxe resort can add that extra magic.
Can the magic be found in the lesser hotels? Absolutely! We have stayed at the Value and Moderate Resorts and enjoyed them greatly! As you think through each one, ask yourself what you are looking for most in a hotel and go for it.

With hotel areas themed to “Finding Nemo,””The Little Mermaid,””The Lion King,” and “Cars,”Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is ideal for families with young kids . Pros: The resort feels transportive, with beautiful landscaping and design details such as cobblestone streets, wrought-iron balconies, and the scent of magnolia blossoms permeating the air. The food is New Orleans inspired so make sure to indulge in a bowl of gumbo or spicy jambalaya.
Cons: The resort is pretty big, so it might be a long walk to your room. Since the bus is the main transportation option, it can be challenging to get around.
Channel the soul of New Orleans’s historic French Quarter at this sprawling Disney resort themed after the Big Easy. There are festive Mardi Gras touches throughout the property from party beads to the jazz music wafting through the public spaces, and even the scent of magnolia blossoms.
On-site amenities steal the show. Adults will love Scat Cat’s Club Lounge serving Crawfish Étouffée, Mickey-shaped beignets, and Southern-inspired cocktails, while the expansive pool complex with a water slide is a winner with kids.
