While going on the ride the DAS holder must be present. The cast members will scan the magic band of the DAS holder and then allow other members attached to the DAS to go in.

How To Handle Medical Emergencies At Walt Disney World

This was my view on the last night of our stay at Disneys Animal Kingdom Lodge. Of course, this is NOT at the resort. Instead, I spent the night at Celebration Hospital. How did I end up there? Well, Ill get to that story in a moment. The important thing is that I am fine now. But while lying here I couldnt help but wonder, what if something worse had happened? So I decided to write this post dedicated to handling medical emergencies at Walt Disney World.

We always hope that our vacations will be perfect, but inevitably something always happens. Usually, these events are minor annoyances in an otherwise great time. But sometimes, bad things can happen, even at Disney. Weve had our share of inconveniences, from minor falls, to getting sick while in Disney. Thankfully, none of these has ever been serious enough to ruin our vacation.

The New Wellness Resources Can Help You Plan For Medical Care As You Plan Your Trip Offering Online Tools Through The My Disney Experience App And A Virtual Concierge Experience Center That Can Help You Schedule Virtual Or In

Along with the new planning tools, AdventHealth is opening a new emergency room location at Flamingo Crossings Town Center, located on the western edge of the resort. Not only is this location easier to access for visitors, but the pediatric wing will be filled with Disney magic to help make the littlest patients feel cared for and safe during their stay.

These changes were no doubt inspired by the unpredictable public health challenges faced as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, and it certainly seems like the Florida result is hoping to make planning for parents and guests of all ages a lot less stressful going forward.

Disabilities Except For Only Mobility Challenges

As mentioned earlier, DAS is for people who find it difficult to wait in a traditional line due to their disability. But if your only concern is mobility problems then DAS is not meant for you.

Disney World already has the facility of renting a wheelchair or ECV for people with mobility problems. So, only mobility-related issues that can get solved by using mobility devices are not acceptable for DAS. If you have a mobility problem but also have some other disability that hinders you to wait in line then you may get DAS.

The announcement marks an ongoing strategy by health systems like Florida-based AdventHealth to market their connected health services to unique locations like theme parks, resorts, shopping malls, business parks and supermarkets as well as cruise ships, oil drilling platforms and commercial shipping fleets.

The partnerships offer health systems a chance to market their brand and capture business through a direct-to-consumer telehealth platform, while also expanding business relationships and opening the door to virtual care services like primary and specialty care.

Get A Return Time For A Ride

After getting your DAS, you have to get a return time for your ride or attraction. Any person attached to DAS can go to the ride and get a return time from a cast member. The cast member will give you a return time based on the standard waiting time for that ride or attraction.

I would like to give you a few suggestions here-

    • Consider getting your first return time for the ride or attraction having the longest waiting time.
    • Use this time to go on other rides with shorter wait times after getting return time.

Eligibility For Getting Das At Disney World

Disability Access Service is a wonderful attempt by Disney to help disabled people. This service is also known as the Disney disability pass. It allows everyone irrespective of their disability to completely enjoy all the rides and attractions of the park.

Disney World is a bit crowded. Lots of people come to visit the parks from different countries every day. So, no wonder the waiting times of the rides are pretty long. As stated in an article by diz-abled.com, many lines for different rides are more than one quarter to half a mile long.

Waiting for a long time in a queue is a very tiring job even for physically and mentally fit people. So, it is substantially difficult for people with disabilities. DAS serves as a great source of help for them. But, this service is not meant for every person with any kind of disability. You need to meet certain criteria to get the DAS card.

Here I am going to discuss a few things you need to know about qualification for DAS at Disney World-

Disney World Tips For Senior Adults

We are seniors and proud of it! We’ve earned our gray hair and discounts, but don’t call us old. We’re really just kids at heart. We’ve grown up with Disney World and while we’ve never outgrown it, we may just need to march to a little different vacation beat, perhaps more classical than hard rock. Of course, that doesn’t mean that we have to give up the fun. If we still like the thrills of a good coaster, we should go for it!

However, let’s face it, Disney World can be a bit overwhelming at any age, but especially for older travelers with diminished energy, some physical limitations, and possible medical issues. Disney World’s theme parks are large expanses with miles of concrete pathways that can be confusing and disorienting. Seniors paired with exuberant grandchildren can find themselves outpaced in energy and stamina. Add to that Florida’s heat and the vacation could easily turn from magical to miserable. But with a few precautions and a little planning, Disney World can be welcoming and wonderful, even for us grown-up kids.

If you’re a senior adult traveling to Disney World, here are tips to keep your next visit to Disney World magical.
