Walt Disney World Food Reservations

Check Around Major Dates

How to Make Walt Disney World Dining Reservations

Heres a tipcheck every day until your trip. Thats sort of helpful, but well try and narrow it down for you a bit. Check around the following dates:

  • 180 days in advance

  • 60 days in advance

  • 30 days in advance

  • Seven days or less in advance

Just writing this post, I found availability at Victoria and Alberts, Cinderellas Royal Table, California Grill, and Be Our Guest within the next seven days. The first two only had one reservation time each in the next seven days, and the others had multiple times. The only two servings I couldnt find availability for were breakfast and lunch at Cinderellas Royal Table.

Nowa single data point is worth just about nothing. But while availability for restaurants in general may get worse as you get closer to your trip, there are lots of reasons people will cancel their reservations as the date get nearer.

People are unlikely to modify reservations between 180 days out and 60 days out. Theyre unlikely to do anything but read and reread our Walt Disney World FastPass+ strategy during that time. Seriously, this just isnt a busy time for Disney vacation planning.

At 60 and 30 days out, guests will be booking FastPass+, which might result in cancellations. People who prioritize rides still have to book ADRs before FastPass+ , so ride enthusiasts who wind up with conflicts will cancel reservations 30 and 60 days out.

If You Know You Need To Cancel Do So In Advance

If you know in advance that youre not going to be able to make it to a dining reservation, you can either choose to modify it or cancel it .

Inside Cinderellas Royal Table

Each restaurant has its own cancellation policy, and most do not charge a fee if you cancel within a certain time period . Be sure to check the restaurants page on the Disney World website to see what its cancellation policy is.

What Disney World Restaurants Need Reservations

The vast majority of table-service restaurants in Walt Disney World will require a reservation. This includes some restaurants in the parks, as well as most restaurants in the resorts.

Be Our Guest Restaurant

The Edison

Jiko The Cooking Place

As you can see, there are quite a few restaurants that require reservations. And if you dont have one, you may not be able to eat there.

There are a few restaurants that do not require reservations, but these are generally quick-service restaurants. The only exception to this is Be Our Guest Restaurant, which does require reservations for both lunch and dinner.

Walt Disney World Resort offers an amazing selection of restaurants. The website lists 399 as it currently stands, and that number doesnt even include all of the quick-service options. Even if you ate at a different restaurant every day of your trip, you would still have plenty of options leftover!

With so many choices, it can be tough to decide where to eat. This is one of the reasons why making reservations is so important. However, only approximately 107 locations take reservations.

With that said, even if a restaurant doesnt technically require a reservation, we still recommend making one. This is because walk-up availability can be very limited, especially at popular restaurants.

So while you technically dont need a reservation for most quick-service restaurants, we still recommend making one if you can.

Why Did Disney Previously Cancel Disney Dining Reservations

So why did Disney make the decision to cancel Disney Dining Reservations? There were various factors that went into this decision and while on the surface it may seem strange, it makes sense given the circumstances.

The first and most obvious is that the restaurants in Disney World will have much lower capacity one they reopen. More space is needed inside the restaurants to allow for distancing between tables, and they will have 30-40% of the capacity they normally would have.

If you dont cancel all the reservations, how do you decide which reservations to keep for some guests and which ones to cancel for others. There is no easy way to decide that except hitting the restart button and letting everyone start over with the new restaurant capacities.

The second reason for cancelling the reservations is the location of the restaurants in Disney World. Some are located in the theme parks which will also have capacity limits and not all guests will be able to get in those parks on those days. Some restaurants are located in hotels which may not be open right away.

Disney really had no choice in the matter at this time and canceling all advanced dining reservations was the only move here.

Search By Meals Not By Exact Times

Walt Disney World 101: Dining Reservations â Sisters & Disney

When checking for availability, search by meals instead of exact times. Youll have a greater chance at finding a reservation if you use the broader meal times filter instead of exact times.

Inside the Check Availability box there is a drop-down menu that will say Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. If the restaurant isnt open for a particular meal, that meal wont show up in the menu. If there is an available time slot there will be a button with the time available that you can click to reserve your spot.

Best Restaurants For Walk

Here is a list of the best restaurants to try in Disney World without a reservation. Well break them down by location:

  • Ale & Compass Restaurant Disneys Yacht Club Resort
  • Grand Floridian Cafe Disneys Grand Floridian Resort
  • Kona Cafe Disneys Polynesian Resort
  • Olivias Old Key West
  • Rixs Sports Bar & Grill Disneys Coronado Springs Resort
  • Sebastians Bistro Disneys Caribbean Beach Resort
  • Shulas Steak House Dolphin Hotel
  • Todd Englishs bluezoo Dolphin Hotel
  • Whispering Canyon Disneys Wilderness Lodge Resort

Disney Springs

  • Just about any restaurant in Disney Springs will have walk-in, unless you come on the weekend where it is much more difficult to get a table.

Prix Fixe Vs A La Carte

Not all Disney World restaurant prices are created equal, and some restaurants feature prix fixe menus with a set number of courses for a set price, while others have a la carte menus that let you order as many items as you choose, all priced separately.

Note that some prix fixe menus include more dishes than others. For example, at EPCOTs Space 220, the lunch prix fixe menu is $55 per adult, and it includes an appetizer and an entree. For dinner, it costs $79 per adult, and you get an appetizer, an entree, and a dessert.

Its not a bad idea to review the menus at every Disney World restaurant youre considering, so you know exactly what youre getting into and there are no disappointments. No one wants to sit down at a restaurant and learn there that none of the menu options sound good, or that the prices are above your budget.

The Boathouse At Disney Springs

A fantastic outdoor dining option is located on the water at Disney Springs, which means you dont need a park ticket to enjoy it. The Boathouse has plenty of indoor seating but also ample outdoor dining options.

Not surprisingly, the Boathouse has very good seafood, including crab cakes, fish, poke, lump crab and more. The complimentary honey butter rolls are ridiculously tasty and worthy of the trip all on their own.

The burgers, fries and Yacht Club club sandwiches are all also hits. Prices here start under $20 for some of the sandwiches and burgers and top out around $30 for most entrees, making it more affordable than several other top spots for a nicer meal at Disney.

The kid meals, $10, were kid-taste-test-approved by my little eaters and come in cute containers.

Tips For Getting Difficult To Get Disney Dining Reservations

These tips are going to put you one step closer to those Disney dining reservations that seem impossible to get.

Tip 1 Be Flexible

As I said before, one of the best ways to increase your chances of getting a reservation at a popular restaurant is to be flexible with your dates and times.

Tip 2 Book as Soon as Reservations Open

This is probably the most important tip. If you want to eat at Be Our Guest in the Magic Kingdom, you need to book that reservation as soon as possible- preferably 60 days in advance. The same goes for any other popular restaurant like Cinderellas Royal Table, Le Cellier, California Grill, etc.

Tip 3 Use a Disney Vacation Planner

A good travel agent will have a lot of connections and may be able to get you a reservation that you wouldnt be able to get on your own.

Tip 4 Try Multiple Times

If you really want to eat at a certain restaurant but cant get a reservation, keep trying. Sometimes people cancel their reservations and you may be able to snag one.

Tip 5 Be organized!

Make sure you are well organized before the time comes to book your reservations. Have all of the required information in front of you including your credit card and computer. Have a list of the restaurants you would like to dine in and the corresponding date and time. Book your reservations as soon as possible to increase your chances of getting the time and

Most Popular Dining Reservations At Walt Disney World

In this section well talk about the most popular advance dining reservations at Walt Disney World. These are going to be the restaurants that youll have to be prepared to book ASAP . Were not including things like packages or unique events here. These are just standard meal reservations.

Were going to break this into three groups. The first group is restaurants that you absolutely have to book as soon as possible and consists of four restaurantsVictoria & Alberts , Cinderellas Royal Table , Storybook Dining at Artist Point with Snow White , and Be Our Guest .

Victoria & Albertsalong with Victoria & Alberts Chefs Table Dinner and Victoria & Alberts Dinner Queen Victoria Roomis the single toughest reservation to get at Walt Disney World. Not only will it fill up 180+ days in advance , but no one is cancelling a meal at Victoria & Alberts. This is something you plan a trip around.

Cinderellas Royal Table is just about the same difficulty as Victoria & Alberts. It fills up at 180+ days out, and families are very hesitant to cancel, though probably not to the same degree as Victoria & Alberts.

Storybook Dining at Artist Point with Snow White is a new and well-received character dinner at Wilderness Lodge. Whether its popularity will be long-lasting is yet to be determined, but for now this is a tough one to book.

If You Outright Miss A Reservation And Dont Contact Disney

If you just miss the reservation and dont contact Disney, you will be charged a No Show fee. This fee is charged PER PERSON and depends on the restaurant. Although some restaurants charge $10 per person for the no-show fee, others charge much more.

Miss a reservation? Itll cost you!

For example, if you skip out on a dining reservation at Victoria & Alberts at Disneys Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, you could pay $75 per person.

Website Vs My Disney Experience

To book dining reservations online you can use the Disney World website or the My Disney Experience app. There isnt much difference between the two.

Both options let you book ADRs, check the status of existing reservations, and cancel reservations you dont want to keep. The booking window for both also starts at 6:00 am ET.

However, over the years we have found the website to be more consistent and quicker to make reservations with. The My Disney Experience app tends to timeout or freeze up more so we avoid it when we can.

We recommend you to use the website if you have a computer, but both of them are better options than making phone reservations.

Which Restaurant Reservations Require A Credit Card

ALLDisney World Advanced Dining Reservations require a credit card at time of booking. This could be for restaurants, lounges, dinner shows, buffets and any other dining experience.

That doesnt mean that your credit card will get charged during the booking process however. Disney World uses your credit card as a security in case you cancel your reservation at the last minute or decide not to show up.

If you dont go to your reservation or fail to cancel within 24 hours, there will be a $10 charge per person applied to your credit card .

Disney will NOT charge your credit card at the time of booking. Most restaurants in Disney World require payment at the end of the meal just like back home. Payments can be made with cash, credit card, Disney Dining credits, or a room charge using your MagicBand.

There are, however, a handful of restaurants that require payment upfront before actually going to the restaurant.

Here is a list of the Disney World restaurants that require pre-payment with a credit card:

  • Cinderellas Royal Table
  • Hoop Dee Doo Revue Dinner Show
  • Mickeys Backyard BBQ
  • Spirit of Aloha Luau Dinner Show
  • Dessert Parties
  • Disney Girls Perfectly Princess Tea Party

Dont Give Up On Your Disney Dining Reservation Dream

If at first, you dont succeed, try, try again! You may not get your first choice restaurant or time slot, but with persistence, youll eventually get the reservation you want.

Its also important to remember that dining reservations are just one part of the equation when it comes to having a magical Disney vacation. While its nice to have a reservation at a popular restaurant, dont let it ruin your trip if you cant get one. There are plenty of other great places to eat at Disney World!

Im Staying At A Disney Resort When Can I Make My Dining Reservations

Walt Disney World Dining Reservations

Guests staying at one of the onsite Walt Disney World resort hotels get a special perk when making dining reservations.

Like everybody else , they can start booking 60 days in advance, BUT they also get to make up to 10 additional days worth of reservations.

This is a fantastic perk for a couple of reasons:

  • Youll only have to wake up early to make your dining reservations on 1 day, and
  • Youll have a better chance to snag some of those hard-to-get reservations

What You Need To Know About Disney World Dining Reservations

All guests can make Disney World dining reservations. Unlike some perks offered exclusively to those staying on-site at a Disney World hotel , ADRs are available equally to all guests, regardless of where you’re staying.

Park admission is required for in-park dining. Just to be clear, you must have valid theme park admission and a Disney Park Pass reservation at the location of your meal. So, if you’re dining at The Jungle Skipper Canteen, be sure you have the proper tickets and park reservations to enter Magic Kingdom for that dining reservation for the date of your meal. If you’re park hopping for a late lunch or dinner, then you won’t need a Disney Park Pass reservation at the park you’re hopping to, as long as the dining reservation is after 2 p.m.

You can make Disney World dining reservations for your trip starting 60 days in advance. No matter what time of year youll be visiting, we recommend making reservations as close as you can to the magical 60-day mark. For guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, youll have 60 days in advance of your check-in day … plus, you can make dining reservations for your entire stay, up to 10 days. This is quite an advantage if dining is a priority, especially during the busiest times, so you’ll want to make sure you book your Disney World hotel room before the dining reservation window opens for your trip. Then you can book all your days at once.
