Walt Disney World Dining Packages

Other Recent New Changes For The Disney Dining Plans

Introduced within the past few years, Guests have several new beverage options available, including non-alcoholic specialty beverages and, for Guests 21 and older, beer, wine, and cocktails.

Alcoholic beverages can only be ordered with adult meal entitlements by Guests 21 and older. Alcoholic beverages cannot be ordered with child meal entitlements, even by Guests 21 and older. Guests younger than 21 may only order non-alcoholic beverages. Walt Disney World policy does not allow service of more than two alcoholic drinks per Guest 21 and older.

Why Isnt My Restaurant Showing Up

The huge list of restaurants and their credit values below only covers restaurants that are eligible for the Disney Dining Plan, and, in general, we only included places to eat that served meals and not just snacks.

If your restaurant isnt listed, it is either too new to be included OR it isnt eligible for the Disney Dining Plan.

You can double-check eligibility for restaurants here:

Looking for information on a new restaurant?

We typically update the list to include new restaurants a couple of times per year, however, it is important to note that it isnt unusual for new restaurants to not immediately become eligible for the Disney Dining Plan .

Sometimes it can take a few weeks for new places to begin accepting the DDP.

Standard Disney Dining Plan

The next option is the standard Disney Dining Plan. This is the most popular option and this will give each member of your group one quick service meal credit, one table service meal credit, and two snacks per night of your stay. Again the price for this is $78.01 per adult, per night and $30.51 per child per night. Remember, a child counts as anyone between the ages of 3 and 9. Once a kid is ten years old theyre classified as an adult.

How Do I Use My Credits

Walt Disney World Dining Plan: Is It Worth The Cost ...

Using your credits is quite easy.

Youll simply scan your MagicBand at any of the restaurants, kiosks, and carts that take the Disney Dining Plan and the appropriate number of credits will be deducted from your account.

Youll have access to your credits until midnight of the day you check out so if you have any leftover credits you can spend them up before you head home!

On your arrival day, your Disney Dining Plan is activated when you check-in , and even though the official check-in time is usually 3 pm, you can check-in early if you want to hit the parks or grab a meal before then.

Disney Free Dining Plan

Now if youre still questioning if the dining plan is right for you, remember that sometimes you can snag a promotion where the Dining Plan is free! For example, Last year Disney came out with this years free dining plan promotion. To get the free dining plan you had to purchase a non-discounted package for at least a five-night stay. This means you had to purchase a hotel along with tickets that have the park hopper option. You also had to book it by July 7th and travel between August 20th and September 29th as well as November 24th through the 27th.

But there were some restrictions in terms of which meal plan you could get. Select Deluxe hotels offer the standard Disney Dining Plan for free and select moderate and value hotels offered the quick service Dining Plan for free. This is just one example, and these exact terms and conditions may not fit the bill for everyone.

But every year around late April Disney releases details on their free dining promotion. So mark your calendars now if youre interested in booking a trip for late summer and fall of 2020.

Who Can Buy The Disney Dining Plan

The Disney Dining Plan is available only to guests staying at Disney-owned resort hotels. These hotels are:

The standard plan provides, for each member of your group , for each night of your stay, one counter-service meal, onefull-service meal, and two snacks at participating Disney dining locationsand restaurants, including room service at some Disney resorts.

How Do I Keep Track Of My Credits

Disney makes it very easy to keep track of your credits.

You can also find your Disney Dining Plan balance inside of the My Disney Experience app under the My Plans section.

Select your resort reservation and you should then see an option for Dining Plan.

If you ever find that the credit balance isnt accurate , make sure you talk to your server .

Or, if youve already left, a Cast Member at your resort will be able to help you.

    General Advice For Maximizing Credits

Disney Dining Plan Guide – Walt Disney World Florida | Tour America

    Roughly speaking:

    • Quick Service credits are worth about $19
    • Table Service credits are worth about $42
    • Snack credits are worth about $5

That means to break even on the Disney Dining Plan, youll need to choose food that costs at least that amount.

There are huge lists below detailing every Table Service and Quick Service restaurant and the value of a credit at those locations.

You can plan according to our lists and/or keep these general things in mind when maximizing credits:

    • Character meals and dining packages are generally a great use of a credit.
    • Signature Restaurants are almost never the best way to maximize a credit since they require 2 Table Service credits per meal but dont cost twice as much if you were paying out-of-pocket.
    • Go for the steak, lobster, shakes, alcohol, and orange juice. Those are often the most expensive options so take advantage when theyre on the menu.
    • Dont choose breakfast when trying to maximize most DDP credits since it is usually much less expensive than lunch or dinner.

    Dining Outside Of Disney

If it wont spoil the magic for you, consider eating one or more meals at a nearby but non-Disney restaurant such as the ones in Disney Springs, the Crossroads Shopping Center or the hotels at Disney Springs. Often these are substantially cheaper than Disney restaurants, but still have attractive theming and great food.

In the section below are a few locations that we personally recommend because they offer very tasty food at an exceptional value, in what is usually a high-priced resort area. Prices below are approximate and subject to change at any time.

    Counter Service / Take-Out

There are some great locations in Disney Springs that offers very reasonably priced takeout food. Since Disney Springs has many places to sit and enjoy the view along the lake, this is a nice option on a day when the weather is pleasant.

Additionally, if you will have a car, consider this option:

    • Panera Bread offers reasonably priced breakfast items, sandwiches , soups and salads, all freshly made. They also have free Wi-Fi. The closest Panera to Disney property is at 8600 Vineland Avenue. Call for hours. reader Amanda K has this tip: We often place our order online which allows us to have one member of our family go inside the location and pick up our breakfast and pass it out to our familyWe have started doing this for breakfast and sometimes for dinner, if we return to our hotel for naps in the afternoon.

Where Did The Dining Plan Go In The First Place

When Disney started reopening last year, they made the announcement that the Dining Plan would NOT be coming back right away. Heres the official statement from Disney, we have made the difficult decision to cancel all existing dining reservations and experience bookings, including Disney dining plans included in packages.

Along with the Dining Plan being put on hold, Disney changed the time for making dining reservations from 180 days out from your trip to 60 days out. Both of these changes were to accommodate the lower capacities that Disney Parks and restaurants would have when Disney reopened.

    Yak and Yeti

These announcements were made back in May of 2020, when the parks were just starting to reopen, and since then, weve seen all kinds of returns to normal as Disney continues to move forward with reopening. Two big steps in this process came yesterday with the announcement that early theme park entry would be granted to some guests and the dining plan would return!

Tips & Tricks For Saving In The Parks And Resorts

Take Advantage of Large Portion Sizes to Cut Costs

Many of the entrees and combo meals served at Walt Disney World restaurants include a large amount of food. If you are not big eaters, consider splitting an entree or combo meal between two people and possibly ordering an extra side dish or appetizer to share. We have done this many times and the server always cheerfully complied. In fact, at sit-down restaurants, usually the split entree was brought out on separate plates for us.

Another good option for light eaters at table service restaurants, and one that works well for someone dining alone, is to substitute an appetizer for your entree. For instance, order two appetizers instead of an appetizer and an entree, or order an appetizer instead of an entree, thus leaving yourself room for dessert. Be sure to inquire about the portion size first some appetizers are substantial and filling, but some arent. reader Susan R has these observations from June 2012 :

There is also the extra bun trick, which works especially well when you have small kids who dont eat a lot.

Please note: the extra bun trick worked for years, with the extra bun usually costing 79 or 89 cents, but since 2008 some locations have increased the price of a bun to insane levels, with some locations charging as much as $4 , so ask the price first.

Dont Pay For Extras You Dont Want

Bringing in Outside Food and Drink

Guests are allowed to bring food items, such as snacks or foods that do not require heating, into any Walt Disney World theme park. It is also completely fine to bring in water or soft drinks in cans or plastic bottles.

One note of caution: avoid bringing in anything highly perishable, such as cold cuts. It would be easy to end up with food poisoning!

You absolutely will NOT be allowed to bring in the following: loose or dry ice, large coolers, alcoholic beverages or glass containers . Also, you cannot bring any type of straws into Animal Kingdom or the water parks.

    Best Bets

Really inexpensive meals in the theme parks are hard to find, but listed below are some cheap options for real food that will fill you up. Prices below are approximate and subject to change at any time.

    • Disneys Hollywood Studios The Trolley Car Cafe has breakfast sandwiches for about $5. For lunch or dinner, Fairfax Fare offers a fajita combo platter thats enough food to split for two light meals for $13.50. Backlot Express has a chicken & biscuit combo that is a decent amount of calories for $11.49. Dockside Diner has a nice pulled pork sandwich for $10.99, less if you leave the sides off, or get their loaded chili cheese nachos, which is plenty of food for $10.99. Woodys Lunch Box has a loaded totchos entree that is basically the kitchen sink over tater tots for $8.99 trust us, it doesnt look huge, but its dense.
