Walt Disney World Christmas Day

When Does Disney Decorate For Christmas

NEW! Walt Disney World Vlog | Day 8 | Magic Kingdom Resort Hopping | December 2021 | Adam Hattan

Much like your local Target or Walmart, Christmas comes early to Walt Disney World. Really early. How early exactly? If past years are any indication, youll be thinking, its beginning to look a lot like Christmas right around November 1st. Sorry, Thanksgiving!

Although Christmas at Disney World officially kicks off on Friday, November 12in 2021, Disney World Christmas decorations usually begin to appear in Magic Kingdom and the other theme parks the day after Halloween .

Thats right after the last guests have left the park on October 31, the Holiday Services team takes to the streets like a gang of ornament-wielding elves to make the pumpkins disappear and deck the halls with the years Christmas trappings. While they may not finish everything overnight, you can expect the Magic Kingdom Christmas decorations to be mostly finished by November 2 and fully complete by November 8, 2021, just in time for the start of Disney Very Merriest After Hours.

Disneys Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom Theme Park should be next on the Christmas list. In fact, you might even spot a seasonally ambiguous star or two in these other parks beginning late October, possibly even as early as the 21st. You can expect all the decorations to be up and lights to be on in their entirety closer to the official start date of the holidays at Walt Disney World on November 12, 2021.

    Holidays At Disney World Epcot

    Christmas at Disney World 2020

Epcot will create its very own magic for the 2021 Disney World Christmas season. As this park is known for its culture , the holiday season features a very special festival. The Epcot Festival of the Holidays features Marketplace booths open around the World Showcase which offer seasonal snacks from around the world.

The Candlelight Processional also gives a retelling of the Christmas Story by a celebrity narrator and features a choir performing holiday songs and a 50-piece live orchestra. Another way to hear Christmas stories is through the Holiday Storytellers, who can be found all throughout the World Showcase. These international storytellers share traditions and tales from their native country.

    Animal Kingdom Christmas Decorations

Disneys Animal Kingdom Theme Park is all about Mother Nature, so its no surprise that many of the Animal Kingdom Christmas decorations feature natural materials or elements that look like theyve been upcycled. Handcrafted, animal-inspired ornaments on the Animal Kingdom Christmas tree greet guests at the entrance to the park and set the tone for the entire experience.

Glistening whites, warming neutrals, and homespun details like strings of paper luminarias featuring animal designs along the rooftops in Discovery Island keep the focus on the Tree of Life while still feeling festive. Over in Africa, the townspeople have gotten artsy, crafting wreaths, garlands, and more out of leftover items like gourds and bottlecaps. Asia lights up with the glow of colorful Diwali lanterns and DinoLand U.S.A. basks in Christmas kitschiness with tacky tinsel decorations. Youll even find a little Christmas cheer in Pandora a makeshift Santa Claus made out of leftover RDA tech.

When Is The Best Time To Visit Disney World During Christmas

The holiday season in Walt Disney World is the most sought out time during the whole year. The merriment and cheer draw in huge crowds, and can be very overwhelming especially the closer to Christmas you get.

However, because Disney starts to celebrate Christmas so early in November there can still be some great times to visit! Our first step when trying to figure out the best time to visit Disney World during Christmas is to check out our Disney Crowd Calendar! We break down estimated foot traffic, daily ticket prices, and also average temperature for that time of year.

The second most important thing we would take a look at when deciding the best time to visit Disney World at Christmas is to look at the ticket prices. Disney World ticket prices now fluctuate based on day, with the least crowded days having the lowest prices. So if youre trying to figure out the least crowded Disney Christmas days just look for the cheapest ticket prices!

As a general rule of thumb we typically see the largest crowds during the first few Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Parties. With Very Merriest After Hours party having similar dates, we can expect there to be similar crowd patterns in 2021.

Historically, it is busiest around Thanksgiving, and also the two weeks leading up to Christmas day and New Years Eve.

Our Christmas 2021 Guide to Walt Disney World offers tips for Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and hotels. It covers entertainment, crowds, food, free tours, things to do, and everything WDW does for the holiday season.

Christmas-time is now underway at Walt Disney World, and will run until early January 2022, with a couple of exceptions. First, not every resort and restaurant is decorated for Christmas, but that is changing quickly and might not still be true by the time you read this. Second, Epcot will celebrate Festival of the Holidays from November 26 through December 30, 2021. Other than that, the festivities will wind down the first week of January 2022, leading up to the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend.

As with last year, Christmas 2021 will be different at Walt Disney World. This year, its mostly due to Walt Disney Worlds 50th Anniversary. The Worlds Most Magical Celebration takes center stage, overshadowing the holiday season a bit, and necessitates operational and decorational concessions. Throughout this guide, well note what has been cancelled, whats happening, and whatll likely be back in 2022. The Nice: When You Do Get A Pool Day

It could get pretty chilly sometimes, but when you do get a pool day, it makes it all worth it. Being from the northeast, we generally dont see consistent pool days until mid-to-late June, and sometimes early July so when in Florida, we like to take advantage of every beautiful day. In past years, I recommended scheduling your FastPass+ selections for early in the day or later in the eveningso if it is a pool day, you dont mind hanging back at the resort. Now with Genie+, Id recommend going to the park early and getting in as much as possible, then enjoying the afternoon by the pool if the weather is nice enough.

Keep in mind that not only do these magical events happen just on Christmas Day, but they happen through the entire season. If 2021 is anything like 2020, we can expect cheery cavalcades with our favorite characters in their holiday gear. With the 5oth Anniversary Celebration underway, we may have more than exciting new holiday events!

A Meal At Minnies Holiday Dine At Hollywood & Vine

Dates for Disney Parks Unforgettable Christmas Celebration ...

Foodies, rejoice: Hollywood & Vines Christmas menu is sensational. Photo by Laurie Sapp

The best way to celebrate Christmas is with a big, delicious meal. You can do that during the holiday season at Disneys Hollywood Studios by dining at Hollywood & Vine for Minnies Holiday Dine. Advance Dining Reservations are strongly recommended.

The typical meet-and-greets are distanced, and last year, instead of a buffet, Disney offered a prix fixe meal. The restaurant is decked out in holiday décor, and youll leave with a special autograph card from your favorite Disney characters.

How To Deal With The Crowds

One great way to escape the crowds for a while is with an advance dining reservation, so that you can go sit down and enjoy a meal at one of Disney Worlds restaurants. If youre in the Magic Kingdom, a good option for dinner is the Liberty Tree Tavern, which serves up holiday-inspired meals all year long.

If you dont have an advance dining reservation already, it might be difficult to get one for Christmas day now . Instead, youll want to make use of Mobile Order so that youre not stuck waiting in a long line for lunch and dinner.

Mobile order your meals as soon as you enter the park youre visiting. You can select the time frame in which you want to eat and place your order immediately. If you wait until lunch time , odds are good that most restaurants will be booked for at least a couple of hours past the time you order.

So get those orders in ASAP for the best possible counter service dining experience!

Weve dealt with the long lines for food, but what about those lines at the rides and attractions?

If youre hoping to get on some popular rides on Christmas, youve got a few options. You can rope-drop and head to those popular attractions first to get in line before that line gets crazy long.

Besides getting to the parks early, you might want to consider buying Genie+ for Christmas day.

Genie+ costs $15 per ticket per day, and it allows you to book your spot in Lightning Lanes at certain attractions, which basically means you can skip the line.

Don’t Miss: Walt Disney World Ride Closures

      Christmas At Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom is home to Walt Disney World featured Christmas eventDisney Very Merriest After Hours . This ticketed event is held on select evenings throughout November and December. It features unique entertainment , snacks , and character sightings. The first after hours event of 2021 is on November 8 and the last party is December 21.

Magic Kingdom is also decorated heavily for Christmas beginning in early November. In 2019, most decorations went up between November 2 and November 7 . Through that same link, youll find information on Magic Kingdoms holiday merchandise, snack, and show offerings.

Magic Kingdom historically offers some unique holiday experiences. First, Jungle Cruise is usually transformed to the holiday-themed Jingle Cruise, and we dont expect the recent updates to the ride to impact that.

Past years included the nightly show A Frozen Holiday Wish, which is also when the castle is lit up with icicles for the evening. Unfortunately, with the castle being reimagined for the 50th Anniversary celebrations its expected those lights and the Frozen show will not be a part of the 2021 celebration.

In the past, the Trolley Show and Mickeys Royal Friendship Faire got holiday touches beginning in early November. Since 2021 has yet to see the return of those pieces of entertainment return, I dont expect them to be a part of the holiday celebrations.
