Get In Line For Any Rides You Missed Right Before The Park Closes

It’s the perfect time to get on popular rides that usually have long lines. Foto: Stephanie Machado

When you visit the parks often, riding every single ride isn’t usually a priority. But Machado has a trick for landing in the shortest lines for must-do attractions.

She waits until the end of the night, especially if there’s a nighttime show distracting much of the crowd.

Where To Eat At Epcot

10 Unique Things to do at Walt Disney World

Eating and drinking your way around the world is part of the fun at Epcot and theres plenty to choose from.

On our last visit, we had a late lunch at San Angel Inn in Mexico. It was fun to have a romantic candlelit meal under the stars overlooking a river, temple, and volcano.

The vegetarian options looked rather boring, but we shared the guacamole and Plato Vegetariano and it was delicious.

We also loved their range of interesting margaritas, especially the Wild One with ginger liqueur and passion fruit and mango purée.

Yo Ho With Pirates Of The Caribbean

Walt Disney World

After a few decades of yo-ho-ing, this ride is still one of the best in all of Disney World. Surprisingly, it was a ride before it inspired the wildly popular movie series featuring Johnny Depp. The Disney Imagineers then incorporated Depp’s character, Captain Jack Sparrow, as well as other film references back into the ride.

Pirates of the Caribbean is still the crown jewel among Disney’s attractions. You might also enjoy learning about the history of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride.

The level of detail at the Animal Kingdom is breathtaking. Marvel at the floating mountains, gawk at the bioluminescent plants, witness a Pandoran shaman on the tranquil Na’vi River Journey, board a banshee on Avatar Flight of Passage , and more in this living ode to James Cameron’s film series.

Be aware, however, that since its opening in 2017, Pandora has been wildly popular. The standby wait times to board the two rides, especially Flight of Passage, often swell to two hours or more. To help avoid lines for these and other popular rides throughout Disney World, and to better manage your visit, you should learn how to make reservations and use My Disney Experience.

Go For A Stroll Down The Disney Boardwalk

The Best Things You Can Still Do in Disney World Right NOW!

Swap the hustle and bustle of the theme parks for the nostalgia of a simpler place and time with a visit to Disneys BoardWalk, the Orlando resorts other entertainment complex. Just around the riverbend from Epcot and the International Gateway at World Showcase, the Disney BoardWalk takes its inspiration from the oceanfront boardwalks of yesteryear, with midway games and street performers showing off their juggling skills or magic tricks when the sun goes down. Whether enjoying dinner at one of the Disney BoardWalk restaurants or enjoying the dueling pianos at Jellyrolls, evening time is when the boardwalk really comes to life. Thanks to its location, its also one of our favorite spots to catch some of the nighttime fireworks and do some resort hopping at the nearby BoardWalk Inn or Yacht and Beach Clubs.

If youre more adventurous, check out the other water sport excursions, also available from the Contemporary Resort.

Where To Eat At Magic Kingdom

Were only eaten at the cheaper quick service restaurants at Magic Kingdom.

Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn in Frontierland is our top pick for eating at Disney World on a budget as they have a huge free toppings bar where you can liven up your meal with salsas, cheese, jalapeños, pickles, and lettuce.

The veggie nachos and veggie rice bowl with beans and vegetables are pretty tasty once youve added the toppings. Save time by ordering on the Disney app.

Columbia Harbour House in Liberty Square is another good option. We enjoyed the hummus and broccoli slaw sandwich and vegetarian chilli.

End Your Night With Free Disney World Fireworks

Disneys nighttime spectaculars are a popular way to wrap up a day in the theme parks, but you dont need a park ticket to end your day with a bang. Some of the Disney World fireworks shows, like Happily Ever After at Magic Kingdom and the forthcoming HarmoniUS at Epcot, can be easily seen outside the parks too. And really, who doesnt like doing free things at Disney World? Snack on a sundae from Beaches & Cream as you watch the Epcot fireworks from Disneys BoardWalk or the rest of the Epcot Resort Area. Or, take in the show with your toes in the sand at Disneys Polynesian Village Resort, where the music for the Magic Kingdom fireworks gets played from the beach.

Avatar Flight Of Passage

5 unique things to do at Disney World

Avatar Flight of Passage is by far the most popular ride at Animal Kingdom and this unique experience is a Disney must do.

Queues were up to three hours when we visited, so its essential to arrive before the park opens or pay for an Individual Lightning Lane . You could also try midday when queues can sometimes ease off.

We arrived 30 minutes before Extra Magic Hours opening and only had to wait 25 minutes.

Flight of Passage is well worth the wait and the beautiful queue and fun pre-show are part of the experience. This may be Disneys best ride yet.

Its an exhilarating 3D flight simulator ride where you fly on the back of a dragon-like banshee. You can feel it breathe beneath you as you soar over the extraordinary Pandora world through forests and waterfalls.

While flying over the ocean a whale even jumps out of the water and splashes you. Its magical and incredibly immersive.

While its not necessary, Im glad I watched the Avatar movie before we went on the ride.

Stay Up Late And Do Extra Magic Hours

If you are staying at a Disney resort hotel, you will have access to âextra magic hours,â or hours when only resort guests are allowed in the park. While teens are not likely to enjoy the morning extra magic hours, nighttime hours are excellent for enjoying attractions with almost no wait. As the nighttime wears on, most families with small children leave the parks, leaving the rides with very little wait. The nighttime hours are fantastic for families of teenagers, who would rather sleep in than get up at the crack of dawn. Instead of rope-dropping, consider taking on the parks late at night!

The Best Of The Rest At Animal Kingdom

If you have time, the Dinosaur ride is surprisingly scary and was empty at the end of the day.

There are many attractions at Animal Kingdom that dont have queues. Its well worth walking the informative Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail and Maharajah Jungle Trek to see gorillas, tigers, and many other animals.

Our favourite show is Its Tough to be a Bug, and its also worth seeing the Festival of the Lion King and Feathered Friends in Flight. Theres plenty of street entertainment going on all day, too.

In the evening, dont miss the Tree of Life Awakening , Rivers of Light show, and wandering through Pandora.

Where To Eat At Hollywood Studios

The food at Hollywood Studios tends to be more junky than at other parks and we usually end up getting pizza. On our last visit we enjoyed lunch at Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater instead.

We got a table without a reservation, but had to wait 40 minutes in the bar next door which has a surprisingly good selection of craft beers.

The restaurant is very coola huge space set up like a drive-in with a starry sky, vintage cars which you sit in to eat, and a screen showing 60s cartoons and movie clips. We enjoyed the tofu lettuce wraps and falafel burger.

Enjoy Surfing Lessons At Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon

50 Things in Disney World Everyone Should Do At Least ONCE!

In addition to its four main theme parks, Disney World also has two water parks: Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon.

Both are great if you’re looking for a way to cool down on a hot Florida day, but Typhoon Lagoon has something extra special to offer: surfing lessons.

When they’re available, a certified instructor leads surfers through the wave pool in the early mornings or evenings when the park is closed to other guests.
