Things To Do Outside Of Disney World

Take An Amphicarboat Ride At The Boathouse

5 THINGS TO DO OUTSIDE THE PARKS AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

I couldnt believe these things were actually vintage originals and not a Disney creation when I first saw them. Theyre like Duck Boats that drive on land and disappear into the water but cooler. At about $125 its a larger expense than the balloons but also, arguably, a more unique experience as well.

These original American Brand Amphicars can take the captain plus two adults and two children, or three adults for a 25 minute ride. There are only about 100 Amphicars left in working condition and The Boathouse has nine of them!

If you eat at The Boathouse you can get a discount on the experience so consider doing so for a little percentage off if youre interested. Plus the food and drinks at The Boathouse are really good! They also give discounts for Disney Vacation Club Members and Annual Passholders.

Hours of operation: 10:00am to 10:30pm.

Find An Escape Room In Orlando

Escape rooms are a big thing in cities across the country, and Escape Game Orlando is a fun activity that will give you and your family a chance to connect with their inner detective during an adventure-filled day. Escape Game Orlando offers constantly rotating situations The Heist, Mission: Mars, Prison Break, Classified, and Gold Rush where you and your team apply your problem-solving skills to break free.

Once you choose which room you want to try, the objective is to escape before you run out of time. Each escape scenario has a unique feel, and it is a thrilling way to bond with friends and family. Everyones decisions and actions contribute to your groups success, so working together is key to making it out in time.

Disneys BoardWalk

Disneys BoardWalk is built around a lake and is beautifully themed to be reminiscent of Cape May or Coney Island in the 1940s. Its fun just walking around and enjoying the atmosphere! If you are staying on Disney property, you can use Disney transportation to get to the BoardWalk. If you drive to the BoardWalk, you can get a FREE 3-hour parking permit from the lot attendant. While some of the restaurants are open at lunchtime, the best time to visit the BoardWalk is after sunset. Its beautifully lit up.

Rock N Roller Coaster

Rock n Roller Coaster is one of the best things to do in Disney World for thrill-seekers.

Its the scariest rollercoaster at Disney with a fun introduction , super-fast launch, and fun inversions.

Theres a single rider queue which saves time, so Simon rides this one again and again. Its one of the best rides at Disney World for adults.

Best Rides At Magic Kingdom

Top 5 Things To Do Outside the Disney Parks

If you only have time for one park at Disney World, make it Magic Kingdom. Its the most classic Disney park with the fairytale castle and famous characters like Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

The best attractions at Magic Kingdom for adults are the three mountains. I havent included any Fantasyland rides below as they are aimed at small children, and the queues for rides like Peter Pan and Winnie the Pooh are usually very long and not worth it to us.

The most popular ride of all is the gentle rollercoaster, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. We rode it once and enjoyed it, but we dont think its worth the very long queues.

If you really want to ride it, head there first thing , wait until the very end of the day, or purchase Individual Lightning Lane access .

Best Genie+ Rides At Animal Kingdom

Genie+ is less useful at Animal Kingdom as there are fewer rides.

Your Genie+ priority should be Navi River Journey followed by Kilimanjaro Safari. Kali River Rapids and Dinosaur only really need it on busy days.

Unfortunately, Avatar Flight of Passage and Expedition Everest are only available if you pay individually. I recommend arriving early and riding them both first.

Gideons Bakehouse At Disney Springs

Gideons is a unique bake shop that serves huge cookies and cakes that are really good. So good that there is usually a very long wait to get it and guests have to join a virtual que to enter the shop. If you want to stop by I suggest visiting around opening and add your name to the list. Then you can enjoy Disney Springs while you wait.

Walt Disney World Without A Park Ticket

One thing we cannot stress enough to you is that it doesnt have to be as expensive as you think it is! Weve written posts about saving money at Walt Disney World, free things at Walt Disney World, and how you can score discounted or even FREE resort stays at Walt Disney World.

But getting tickets cheaper can be a little more difficult. And unfortunately, the reality is that ticket prices are likely to continue to rise as long as visitors are willing to pay for these increases. So if youre looking to visit Walt Disney World and cant justify adding another day onto your Park tickets, never fret. Maybe youre only going to be there half a day when your flight arrives/departs, or maybe youre not sure if you or your kids will last that many days navigating the Parks and the crowds. Or maybe, you just want to do something else. Maybe its just not in your budget. Thats ok! Whatever your reason, dont feel the need to pay for a Park ticket in order to have a great time.

Even if cost isnt a factor for you, getting those Park Pass Reservations can be a little tricky. Sometimes there just isnt availability and sometimes you really dont have the time to continuously check to see if something comes open for the Park you want. There are plenty of things to do at Walt Disney World that dont require you to have a Park ticket. These are listed in no particular order, but here is a quick list of our favorite things at Walt Disney World without a Park ticket!

Disney World Resort Hopping

During our visit we were able to visit a total of six different resorts. We chose to stay overnight at three different places . Then we jumped aboard the Monorail and made stops at the trio of resorts on the loop . We passed the time walking through the lobby, wandering the grounds, grabbing a snack inside a quick service restaurant and perusing the gift shops. These were all fun activities for my preschooler.

Be sure to check online as to different activities that take place inside the resorts that anyone can enjoy. After reading an article on the Disney Blog site, I found out that the annual Easter eggs would still be on display in the lobby of the Grand Floridian during our visit.

Location: Disney SpringsCost: Aerophile: $25 per person, Amphicars: $125 per boat

How to get there: Drive or bus from any resort or park, walk .

Tip: The views at night aboard the Aerophile are stunning!

When it comes to crowd levels, Disney Springs has been hit-or-miss lately, but we have found that even when the crowds are at the heaviest, you can still avoid pockets of congestion by staying aware of your surroundings.

Disney Springs is home to several of our favorite outdoor dining options, and of course, there are tons of places to shop, but in addition to all that, there are also a couple of fun extras you can do on your visit: the Aerophile balloon and the Amphicars at The BOATHOUSE.

We havent had a chance yet to check out the Amphicars but we have taken a ride up in the balloon and it was absolutely lovely.

We love the outdoor dining options available at Disney Springs so consider adding a reservation for one.

Watch The Electrical Water Pageant Float By

The Electrical Water Pageant is a true Disney classic and has been running since 1971. This twinkling display features 14 different floats many themed to look like sea creatures and takes to the Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake each night. Similar to the Magic Kingdom fireworks, the Electrical Water Pageant can be seen from each Magic Kingdom resort on the monorail loop, however it also floats past the Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness.
