Disney World Annual Pass Add
The biggest gripe that loyal Annual Passholders have so far with the newly announced Disney World Annual Passes are the omission of free Disney PhotoPass downloads. In previous years, this was included with your annual pass.
And now? Its a $99 add-on. Womp womp. In fact, there are two add-ons for Disneys Annual Passes.
Annual Passes And Park Reservations
Just like all guests, annual passholders are required to make a Disney Park Pass Reservation for each day they want to visit the theme parks.
Before this update, annual passholders were limited to 3 park pass reservations at one time. Now, however, the Pirate Pass, Sorcerer Pass, and Incredi-Pass each allow for 4 or 5 park pass reservations at a time. The Pixie Dust Pass is the only one that is still limited to 3 reservations.
On top of the normal reservation limits, annual passholders staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel will be able to reserve a park pass for each day of their stay. So if you are staying for 7 days, you can make 7 different park pass reservations, plus you will have your normal allotment of 3, 4, or 5 on top of that.
If you still have an old annual pass, you also can now hold more park pass reservations. Starting September 8, 2021, Platinum Plus, Platinum, and Gold Annual Passholders can hold five reservations at a time, while Silver Passholders will be able to hold four.
Updates On Disney Magicmobile Service
Earlier this year, Walt Disney World Resort introduced Disney MagicMobile service, an easy, more contactless way to enter Disney theme parks through the power of an eligible iPhone, Apple Watch or Google Pay enabled Android phone.
As part of this new service, guests can choose from several Disney-themed MagicMobile Pass designs in the My Disney Experience appand coming soon, be on the lookout for new exclusive designs featuring Orange Bird and Figment just for Annual Passholders. As a reminder, valid park admission and a park reservation are required for park entry.

How Disney Genie+ Works For Annual Passholders
Today, Disney announced that both FastPass and MaxPass will be retired at Disney World and Disneyland, and two new PAID services will essentially be taking their place. But just how do these paid services work when it comes to Annual Passholders? Heres what we know.
Today, Disney shared details about 2 new systems guests will get the chance to use soon Disney Genie+ and Individual Attraction Selection. With Disney Genie+ guests will pay a set amount per ticket per day to have the ability to select the next available return time for attractions, one at a time, throughout the day. When the return time arrives, the guest will get to use the Lightning Lane to enter the ride and skip the standby queue.
Disney will also be introducing an Individual Attraction Selection system where guests will be able to pay a certain amount to schedule a return time for select, highly popular Disney attractions. Guests will only be able to purchase 2 Individual Attraction Selections per day. Note that the attractions available through Disney Genie+ and Individual Attraction Selection will be different.
For now, were focusing on Disney Genie+. How will Disney Genie+ work when it comes to Annual Passholders at Disney World or Magic Key Holders at Disneyland?

Disney World Annual Passes The Basics
New Walt Disney World Annual Passes are good for 366 days from the date of activation. In other words, if you activate your new pass on January 8, 2021, it will be good through January 8, 2022! Renewal Annual Passes, which are discounted, are good for 366 days starting from the expiration date of the previous pass, whether you use them right away or not.
You should carefully calculate your costs with and without Annual Passes before buying them. As a very rough rule of thumb, Walt Disney World Annual Passes are worth the money purely on the basis of ticket cost if you will be going into the theme parks for more than 18 days in 1-2 visits or 14 days in 3+ visits in a 366-day period. If your plans are in that ballpark, its probably worth actually calculating whether youll save money with a pass. In some cases an annual pass can still save you money for shorter stays because of the substantial benefits that are often available to Annual Passholders: hotel discounts, discounts on entertainment, restaurant discounts and free parking.

Ap Sales Should Resume
A spokesperson for Walt Disney World has clarified that the passes are not sold out. Instead, they are paused and will eventually resume sales in the new year. It seems they need to get through the busy holiday season while managing the crowd levels the best they can. I agree, its disappointing. In the meantime, consider purchasing a Universal Orlando Annual Pass. You can head on over to Universal whenever you would like without having to worry about park passes. Why is this so different from Disney you might wonder? Disney just sells a whole lot more Annual Passes than Universal. It seems Disney is still working to figure out how to manage the crowds they bring in. Hopefully the new year brings good news for Disney fans and Florida locals.
If you are planning to be a Disney local, we have great hope Annual Passes will return next year. In the meantime, check out all the Annual Pass options Universal has to offer. Many of their passes have no block out dates for the main two parks and they have some great holiday offerings to experience.

Walt Disney World Annual Pass Renewal Discount
Renewing your annual pass usually comes with a discount of about 15%. For the Incredi-Pass, the renewal price is around $1,176 .
In most cases, it will make sense to seize the renewal discount, especially given the frequency of price increases. That said, if your schedule allows you to push your trips a few months each year, you might forgo the renewal and get a new annual pass. This requires thorough planning, though maybe not any more than is required to ensure you get value out of your annual pass.

How To Buy A Walt Disney World Annual Pass Right Now
Wondering how to buy a Walt Disney World Annual Pass right now? Well, not everyone can do it. But you might just be eligible if you meet the criteria.
I got a hot tip earlier in May from a fellow Disney fan on Instagram. She shared that previous Annual Passholders could call the Annual Passholder phone line 560-7277, and ask to be put on a waitlist to buy a new Annual Pass.
I was skeptical at first. Disney isnt actually selling new Annual Passes right now. The only way to get one is to renew an existing one. But I thought Id give this waitlist idea a try just in case.
