This makes doing a split staywhere you stay at two different Disney hotels on the same tripquite convenient. In particular, we like to pair hotels across tiers, usually a longer value stay with a shorter deluxe stay.

How Much Does It Cost To Go To Disney World In 2022

In this post we answer a common question: How much does it cost to go to Disney World? Im going to start with what Ill call the Baseline Disney World Vacation. Thats the vacation I would go ahead and tell a first-timer to book without knowing anything about how the finances look. Then Ill go ahead and talk about ways to increase and decrease your budget to fit your situation.

How Do I Start Planning A Trip To Disney World

STEP 1:Write down notes. There are going to be a lot of details, prices, and dates to remember so get a dedicated notebook for your upcoming trip. If you prefer, you can take notes on your phone or computer, but make sure you have a way of jotting down notes in a convenient place where you will be able to find them.

STEP 2: Set a Budget. Make no mistake about it, a trip to Walt Disney World is expensive and costs can add up very quickly. So before you start choosing how many days you want to stay, your hotel, and ticket types, make a budget. It will be much easier to organize your vacation if you already have an idea of how much you are willing to spend.

STEP 3: Get familiar with Disney World. Even if you are not ready to book your vacation yet, start reading up on Disney World and familiarize yourself with all the locations, attractions, restaurants, and special events. A website like this is one way to do that, but also look through the official Walt Disney World website and download the My Disney Experience app on your mobile device.

STEP 4: Choose your Dates. These dont have to be written in stone, but we recommend at least having some idea of when you would like to plan your trip for. Later in this guide, we will show you how to decide those dates.

Once you get these four things done, you are ready to start planning the details.

Theres a lot of pressure to make Disney perfect, but you dont need to cash in on every amenity to make memories that will last a lifetime. Add-ons like a Memory Maker photo pass or water park pass may seem tempting, but if youre worried about staying within your budget, just say no. You WILL take your own photos, and even characters around the parks are willing to help snap a photo with your own camera. Water parks are fun, but you didnt come to Disney World for them. Pricing Disney World Tickets

Disney prices Walt Disney World tickets on a date-and-length based system. Discount ticket brokers also price tickets this way. Now, when you purchase a ticket it will:

    • have a start date at which it becomes valid

    • have an end datethe date by which your visits must be complete

    • have a set number of days you can visit the parks during that window.

You choose the start date and the number of park days. The end date is automatically set by the system. Price is determined by the number of park days and the start date.

So, for example, a five-day park hopper ticket with a start date of November 11 can be used on any five days during the eight-day range of November 11 through November 18. That ticket costs $646.81 for an adult directly through Disney and $609.52 through Undercover Tourist. Party and event tickets vary based on date and event but typically cost between $150 and $250 per person.

    Consider An Annual Pass

To Decide the ticket type that is right for you and your family, consider an Annual Pass to maximize savings if you plan to return to Walt Disney World in the next 12 months.

Disney offers various ticket types 1 Park Per Day, Water Park and Sports Option, Park Hopper Option, Park Hopper Plus Option. In addition, there are special discount tickets for Florida residents so check the Disney website if you are a FL resident and see if these options work for you.

Additionally, Disney does offer Annual Passes for Walt Disney World, which can offer even more savings if you carefully plan out two or more Disney trips within a 12-month period. For example, if you want to visit Disney World every summer, try grabbing Annual Passes for your family and plan an August visit this year and a June visit next year.

Something to note on Annual Passes: Currently, Disney World is not selling new Annual Passes but since this is such a money-saving hack for Disney World tickets we included it. Keep an ear out for when Disney starts selling Annual Passes again if that option is something that would work best for your vacation.

When Is The Right Time To Plan A Disney Vacation

    Are you out of debt?

When youre in Baby Steps 1, 2, or 3, Mickey will have to wait . . . for now. Theres no room in the budget for Disney because any extra money is either building up your starter emergency fund or paying down debt.

But dont give up on your Disney dream just because youre not debt-free! Actually, I encourage you use that dream as even more motivation to pay off your debt quickly. Just put on some Disney music as you do your budget each month and think about how good that Mickey Mouse ice cream will taste when youre debt-free!

    How old are your kids?

Theres no right or wrong answer to this. In fact, Im all for going to Disney without the kids! But if you want to take the whole family, there are some pros and cons to consider, depending on their ages.

A big pro of taking anyone under 3 years old is that their park admission is free. Thats a savings of $169 per day for the Park Hopper ticket! And I can tell you from experience: When I took my daughter to Disney around this age, there was nothing like seeing her meet Cinderella for the first time. That moment was priceless. The downside is she may not remember it when shes older. But well always have the pictures!

I hear the sweet spot is between the ages of 6 and 10. At that point, theyre old enough to enjoy the anticipation of planning a Disney vacation. Plus, theyre taller, so they can go on more of the rides.

Watch Your Food Budget Disney On A Dime

The food at Disney World is fantastic, but its also expensive. Consider the pros and cons of the Disney Dining Plan vs. a pay-as-you-go method before your book your trip.

Some guests find that the Disney Dining Plan will save them money over the course of their vacation while others find that they save more money without any plan at all. Its an age-old debate that really has no right or wrong answers it merely depends on each guest and their individual priorities and preferences.

Visit Disneys Dining Plans page or talk with a Disney travel agent to see which option best suits your needs.

One way to save money is to purchase food at local grocery stores and make your own meals, or even buy snacks on Amazon and schedule your package to be delivered directly to your hotel room. Some guests bring their own lunch along with them to the park.

Disney World allows guests to bring food into the park, so you could conceivably buy no food inside Disney parks at all. We call that taking Disney on a Dime to the next level!
