Pirates Of The Caribbean
Pirates of the Caribbean is the quintessential Disney dark ride and a masterful job of storytelling. Even though this ride is decades old, it continues to captivate generations of guests over and over again.
There are dozens of audio-animatronic figures throughout the ride as it tells a swashbuckling story of pirates invading a port town somewhere in the Caribbean. It mixes adventure, fright and comedic relief perfectly. Its so popular that it spawned a wildly successful film franchise.
Pirates is able to set the mood so well and the iconic music will be stuck in your head as you leave. Even though the Magic Kingdom version is the worst version of the ride worldwide, it still lands near the top of our list of best Disney World rides.
The Complete Magic Kingdom Rides Guide
This rides guide is meant to provide you with an overview of all the rides and attractions at Magic Kingdom. Each gets at least a short description and our personal thoughts. Some get longer descriptions. We include height requirements here, but we also have a longer, more comprehensive post on height requirements at Walt Disney World. We also have a post covering the Best Rides for Toddlers at Magic Kingdom, if thats what you really need.
Currently, the guide doesn’t include shows or character greetings, except for Enchanted Tales With Belle. It does include both traditional rides and non-ride attractions .
For most of the rides we give some tips for fitting it into your busy Magic Kingdom schedule.
Finally, weve also got a Walt Disney World ride construction and event calendar if youd like to see some of the attractions coming to Magic Kingdom and the rest of the resort.

Prince Charming’s Regal Carrousel
Though this attraction premiered with the park in 1971, the carousel itself is actually older than both Disneyland and the Walt Disney World resort. Before being adopted and refurbished by the Walt Disney Company, the carousel was built in 1917, making it the oldest attraction in any Disney-owned property.
Though it might appear to be like any other merry-go-round ride, once you take in the fact that the inner workings and machinery are over one-hundred years old should be enough to impress you. It’s definitely more magical than your average attraction, just not in the way you’d expect.
Lightning Mcqueens Racing Academy
This hybrid attraction/show features a really cool Lightning McQueen audio animatronic figure, which teaches the audience how to race and that is by far the highlight. The special effects on the wrap-around screen are cool too.
We wouldnt really call it a must-do attraction, but its fun. Fans of the Cars franchise will love it and its fun both for kids and adults.

Will Disney Ever Build Another Park In The Us
Basically, yes, there’s a lot of land in Disney World, but quite a bit of it is actually totally unsuitable for development of a new park or anything else. Now, is there enough to build a 5th theme park it definitely looks like it based on the map but it’s still likely a bit more complicated than you might expect.

This has been an iconic attraction since Epcots opening day in 1982 when the easily recognizable dome welcomed guests for the first time to embark on a journey that explores the history of human communication.
Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disneys Hollywood Studios
This is a dark, thrill ride with big drops that opened in 1994. Guests climb aboard a rickety hotel elevator that plumets more than 125 feet, not once but multiple times, at a speed of nearly 35 miles/hour. Terrifying!
Kilimanjaro Safaris at Disneys Animal Kingdom
This is the newest kid on the block on our list of oldest Disney World rides today, having opened in 1998 as an opening day attraction at Disneys Animal Kingdom. Guests climb aboard an open safari vehicle and encounter more than 30 kinds of animals on Kilimanjaro Safaris, which is a wonderful guided tour of the African savanna. The Best Of The Rest At Magic Kingdom
Once youve got the main rides out of the way, one of the best things to do at Magic Kingdom is just wander, soak up the atmosphere, and pop into one of the random shows and attractions that rarely have long waits.
If you are wondering what to do at Disney World when youre feeling hot and exhausted, I recommend musical shows like the Enchanted Tiki Room, Country Bear Jamboree , and Mickeys PhilharMagic. You wont need to wait for long and they are perfect when you need a break.
We also love having a picnic on Tom Sawyers Island, clambering up the Swiss Family Treehouse, and getting on the water on the pun-tastic or the leisurely Liberty Square Riverboat.
The Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover takes you behind the scenes of Tomorrowlands attractions and is especially lovely at sunset when you can see the park from above. We enjoy taking the Railroad around the park in the afternoon when were feeling tired.
Finishing the day with the Magic Kingdom fireworks above the castle is a Disney World must do.
What Are The Rides At The Magic Kingdom
A somewhat surprising staple of Disney castle parks worldwide, Buzz Lightyears Space Ranger Spin is a shooter style dark ride where you and a partner ride through a battle between Buzz and the Evil Emperor Zurg, shooting your laser at targets throughout the ride. We find this to be one of the more fun rides in Magic Kingdom.

New: Once Upon A Time
Once Upon A Time is not so much a ride as it is an attraction recently added to Magic Kingdom. It joined the Disney World attractions in Orlando back in November of 2016 following initial success in Tokyo Disneyland.
The show features characters from various Disney films from the distant past and recent years each. It is described as a spectacle using fireworks, lasers, searchlights and other fun dynamics to deliver a memorable experience. Once Upon A Time is considered a top attraction since joining Disney World at the Magic Kingdom.
Snow Whites Scary Adventures
Snow Whites Adventures opened in 1971 as a much different ride then you may remember it. The witches were very realistic, and much of the ride took place in dungeons and the forest. The ride ended with a room with flashing strobe lights and the witchs cackle skipping like a record, implying that she had killed you. In 1994 the attraction was redesigned to follow the movie better and be more kid friendly. The ride closed in 2012 and was replaced by Princess Fairytale Hall.

Rock N Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith
Rock n Roller Coaster is 100% thrills, high-speeds and just a plain, rocking good time! Guests load into a super-stretch limo with backstage passes to an Aerosmith concert, but run into traffic on the way which turns out to be no problem whatsoever.
The only reason we dont rank this higher is that its really short and its often not worth the long wait time. Still, we love this ride and so will any thrill-seeker.
Old: The Haunted Mansion
The Haunted Mansion was one of the original attractions at Magic Kingdom. It is a dark ride that takes the passenger on a journey that is basically meant to spook you in a fun manner. This ride has been a hit for decades and remains quite popular today.
Most rides are inspired by hit Disney movies, but The Haunted Mansion has the opposite story. The ride was popular enough for Disney to produce a movie based on it featuring Eddie Murphy as the lead star.

Enchanted Tales With Belle
Height: AnyType: Interactive / Character Meet
Enchanted Tales with Belle is a different sort of character interaction. Rather than the traditional meet and greet with autographs and a simple photo, guests on Enchanted Tales will get to reenact parts of Beauty and the Beast for Belle. Kids and adults alike will be asked to participate, so be prepared!
Experiencing It: Enchanted Tales is a middle-demand ride. It rarely has sustained, high waits, but you may need to catch it just at the end of the morning or in the evening hours if you want to walk right in.
Disney World Ride Lengths
First, these ride times don’t include pre-shows which will add a few minutes. In the case of Soarin’, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain or Star Tours, it doesn’t factor in the 10 mile walks to actually get on the rides. That’s an exaggeration, but it can be a hike. These are the times from when you’re seated, buckled or harnessed in. In the case of the Circle-Vision movies, it’s how long you’re going to stand.
Picking the wrong ride at Walt Disney World can really mess up a schedule. You see an attraction, doesn’t look like there’s a wait so you think ‘great, we can squeeze this in before we head to our dining reservation.’ Check out the ride length before you board as there isn’t always a way to leave in the middle of the experience.
The more eye-opening use of the list is seeing how long you wait for a ride that’s over in an instant. Still, those minutes are magical and in most cases, well worth the wait.

Why Walt Disney Worlds Oldest Thrill Rides Are Still Some Of The Best
Disney Parks have upped their thrill game over the last few years. Attractions like Rise of the Resistance and Flight of Passage raised the bar when it comes to state-of-the-art ride technology, immersion, and ingenuity. To add to that, there are several new, exciting thrill rides coming to Disney World in the next couple of years. From TRON Lightcycle Run to Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, there will be plenty of thrill to go around. And who could forget the thrills coming to Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure?
But just because a ride is new and flashy doesnt automatically mean its better! Disney has been manufacturing thrills for decades, and from its earliest years, Disney World thrill rides have stood the test of time. Many of them, to this day, remain among guests favorites.
