Meeting Mickey At A Meet And Greet

Worlds Most Magical Celebration: Walt Disney World ...

Lets talk option one meeting the Mouse in a meet and greet format. There is a Mickey meet and greet in every Disney World park. He meets at Town Square Theater in Magic Kingdom, in the theater in the Imagination Pavilion in Epcot, Adventurers Outpost in Animal Kingdom, and Mickey and Minnie Starring in Red Carpet Dreams in Hollywood Studios.

Mickey Meet and Greet

The meet and greets are free but wait times can be over an hour and even spike above 90 minutes long at times. Whew! Thats a big chunk of your park day for a quick hug and a picture! So even though youre not spending any extra cash, youll still pay with your time when you go the standby route!

Alternatively, you can snag a FastPass for the Mickey meet and greets in Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. Just remember theres currently no Fastpass option for the Epcot or Hollywood Studios meet and greets.

Mickey Meet and Greet

In this instance, youll be paying with one of your FastPasses. Since Magic Kingdom doesnt have a tier system, youll be using up one of three potentially better-used FastPasses for a chance to briefly meet Mickey. This could work for you if meeting Mickey is a MUST for your family, but it could mean having to wait a couple of hours for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Space Mountain, or any other ride you gave up using that FastPass on.

Mickey Mouse

Whichever way you choose to handle your Mickey meet and greet, youll be spending coveted park time or FastPasses, so be wary!

Pejorative Use Of Mickey’s Name

“Mickey Mouse” is a slang expression meaning small-time, amateurish or trivial. In the United Kingdom and Ireland, it also means poor quality or counterfeit. In Poland the phrase “may Miki”, which translates to “small Mickey”, means something very simple and trivial – usually used in the comparison between two things. However, in parts of Australia it can mean excellent or very good . Examples of the negative usages include the following:

Character Meals With Mickey Mouse

At character meals, the featured characters will walk around greeting you as you dine. In some cases, headliners may simply greet you for a photo before youre seated.

Character meals are popular advance dining reservations at Disney World and thus should be booked as early as possible. They can be a good use of Disney Dining Plan credits, particularly if you can book them as a package .

These character meals are ones where Mickey makes regular appearances. As always, greetings are subject to change. I recommend using Google to find some reviews if youre interested in these meals. For restaurants with an asterisk *, Mickey makes regular appearances but is not listed as a daily character.

Nothing Can Stop Them Now Mickey & Minnies Runaway Railway Invites Guests

From their first appearance aboard a black-and-white steamboat to their latest adventure searching for the perfect picnic spot, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse are cultural icons spanning generations and nations. In celebration of Mickey & Minnies Runaway Railway at Disneys Hollywood Studios in Florida, here is a look back at some of the finest moments for these true originals, and the man who created them. Its a good reminder that, as Walt Disney said, It was all started by a mouse.

Iconic On-Screen Moments

Walt Disney arrived in Hollywood in August 1923 and founded Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio in October of that year. Just five years later, Mickey Mouse debuted on the silver screen and went on to appear in a series of 130 animated short films from 1928 to 1953, with four additional shorts released between 1983 and 2013. Since 1955, he has been a frequent presence on television, too. Following are some notable highlights of Mickeys onscreen career:

Mickey, Minnie and Music

Throughout history, Mickey, Minnie and music have been inseparable. In honor of Nothing Can Stop Us Now, the new original song featured in Mickey & Minnies Runaway Railway, here are some high notes in these true originals melodious career:

Where To Meet Mickey Mouse At Magic Kingdom

Meet Magician Mickey Mouse at Town Square Theater | Walt Disney World

Mickey Mouse greets continuously throughout the day inside the Town Square Theater. The Town Square Theater is a large, unmissable building just to your right as you enter the park, after you pass under the train tracks.

That same building houses a Tinker Bell greeting, but that greeting is completely separate from the Mickey Mouse greeting.

Mickey Mouse typically greets alone as Magician Mickey at this greeting. He used to talk, but that feature has since been removed.

During special celebrations, youll often find Mickey in a different outfit, sometimes greeting with Minnie. Heres what he looked like for his and Minnies 90th Birthday:

The Mickey greeting at Magic Kingdom is formally named Meet Mickey Mouse at Town Square Theater. It is listed as Entertainment on the My Disney Experience app, has a posted wait time, and is one of the FastPass+ options at Magic Kingdom.

The Walt Disney Company

What happens when you combine the magic of meeting Mickey Mouse in person with Disney World’s FastPass+ program? You get a great way to meet your favorite Disney character without waiting in line!

Guests visiting the Magic Kingdom theme park can stop by Mickey’s new greeting spot, the Town Square Theater, located just to the right of the railway station as you enter the park.

Not only will visitors get a chance to meet Mickey Mouse in person , but they won’t have to wait in a long line to do so. Simply visit the FastPass+ machine located next to the theater or make a FastPass+ reservation online through your My Disney Experience, then come back at the appointed time.

Where To Meet Mickey Mouse At Hollywood Studios

Mickey Mouse greets continuously throughout the day inside a building on Commissary Lane, opposite Sci-Fi Diner and ABC Commissary. The greeting is called Mickey and Minnie Starring In Red Carpet Dreams.

As the name implies, this greeting includes both Mickey and Minnie. They greet separately, though, one after the other. Mickey wears his Sorcerers Apprentice outfit, while Minnie wears a pink Hollywood-inspired dress.

Mickey and Minnie Starring In Red Carpet Dreams is listed as Entertainment in the app. It has a posted wait time, but it is not a part of FastPass+ at Hollywood Studios.

Id like to add that Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World is also home to Mickeys first ride in a Disney theme park. The new Mickey & Minnies Runaway Railway ride features Mickey, Minnie, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Goofy, and Pluto on a cartoon adventure. Disney imagineers have brought the character to life with a variety of 2.5D screen tricks and animatronic figures.

Additionally, the new Mickey Shorts Theater shows a Mickey Mouse cartoon, giving you a chance to escape the heat and enjoy an exclusive short from Disney animation.

Pencil Testsociety Dog Show

As animations most enduring character, Mickey Mouse is a symbol of its progress and, as such, Mickey Mouse: From Walt to the World appropriately shows its titular character in every stage of the animation process. On the first floor of the exhibition, guests are able to click through two pencil tests from Society Dog Show , significant for being the last appearance of Mickey with his black button eyes. Pencil tests are an important step in animation, as they give key animators, directors, and producers a last look into the progress of a scene before inking-and-painting to ensure that characters are making proper acting choices and that pacing and timing requirements are being met.

Walt Disney Productions V Air Pirates

In 1971, a group of underground cartoonists calling themselves the Air Pirates, after a group of villains from early Mickey Mouse films, produced a comic called Air Pirates Funnies. In the first issue, cartoonist Dan O’Neill depicted Mickey and Minnie Mouse engaging in explicit sexual behavior and consuming drugs. As O’Neill explained, “The air pirates were…some sort of bizarre concept to steal the air, pirate the air, steal the media….Since we were cartoonists, the logical thing was Disney.” Rather than change the appearance or name of the character, which O’Neill felt would dilute the parody, the mouse depicted in Air Pirates Funnies looks like and is named “Mickey Mouse”. Disney sued for copyright infringement, and after a series of appeals, O’Neill eventually lost and was ordered to pay Disney $1.9 million. The outcome of the case remains controversial among free-speech advocates. New York Law School professor Edward Samuels said, “The Air Pirates set parody back twenty years.”

Finding Mickey At Disney World

Celebrating Mickey Mouseâs Birthday at Disneyland & Walt Disney World Resorts

Mickey can be found at all four parks, as well as character dining options at select resort hotels. Mickey has quite the full wardrobe and will often change his outfit depending on the season or holiday.

Finding Mickey at Magic Kingdom

As we mentioned, Mickey is back at Town Square Theater! Your family get to have one-on-one interactions with Mickey in his new EARidescent outfit to commemorate Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary. Even with guests wearing masks inside and ropes for distancing, you can tell there’s so much excitement for getting characters back to their regular locations.

You can also catch Mickey and Friends in the Celebration Cavalcade throughout the day as the “EARidescent 8” celebrate the 50th anniversary! The cavalcade follows the typical Magic Kingdom parade route, starting in Frontierland, past the castle and down Main Street. It happens multiple times a day, so stay in the castle area long enough and you’ll catch the change in music. At other times of the day, the characters will greet guests at the top of the Train Station.

Also see Mickey and friends in Mickey’s PhilharMagic, a 3-D musical adventure in Fantasyland. This classic show is for frogs of all ages and makes for a great way to beat the heat.

Minnies Seasonal Dine At Hollywood And Vine

While I dont love Hollywood and Vine for the food, the fact that Mickey is here and in a different costume based on the season, is what puts it on this list. If you cant make it to a Halloween or Christmas party, then this is worth booking for the characters in their fall and Christmas costumes.

The food isnt terrible, but it is definitely secondary to the character interaction and theming of this location. We have enjoyed this meal in the summer, so Mickey was in his surfing/swim costume. I really like that the characters change costumes with the seasons at this location.
