How Do I Make A Reservation
The simplest way to make an ADR is to log into your My Disney Experience Account.
- Scroll down to Make Reservations
- Select your location, date, time and party size
You can also call Walt Disney World Dining directly at WDW-DINE , although Disneys preferred method of making ADRs is online now. Reservations for large groups or those with special dining requests should call Disney at the number above.
You can also make a reservation at any Walt Disney World Resort Lobby Conciergedesk or by dialing 55 from your room phone.
NOTE: You will be given a Confirmation Number. Make sure you write it down and bring it with you on your trip for each ADR you make.
NOTE: Some Walt Disney World restaurants are available to book via OpenTable.com, a fast and easy way to make dining reservations almost anywhere in the United States. OpenTable is great because in most cases you can cancel the day of without penalty .
Restaurants That Require A Credit Card Guarantee Or Prepayment
The following locations require full prepayment in advance, using a credit card. Generally if you dont cancel them by two days before the event, you get no refund. Check their cancellation terms carefully, as they can change any time.
- Cinderellas Royal Table
- Spirit of Aloha Luau
- Mickeys Backyard BBQ
All other table-service dining locations that take reservations require a credit card guarantee. Your credit card will be charged $10 per person if you dont either show up for the reservation or cancel by the previous day . The latest you can cancel and avoid the charge is 11:59 pm Eastern Time of the night before, though there is no one answering the phones after 11:00 pm, so to cancel after that point you would need to do it online.
At Victoria & Alberts, your credit card will be charged $100 per person if you dont show up for the reservation, or if you cancel within 72 hours of the reservation.
Note that if some of your party cant make the reservation, thats not a problem. As long as at least one person shows up to take the reservation, no one will be charged the fee.
Book Ahead And Cancel If You Need To
Lets say you cant get the reservation you really want but there is another restaurant that has availability. Consider booking ahead and getting the reservation you can. You can continue to search for the ADR you want. If you cant get another reservation at least youll have something booked! If youre able to book elsewhere, then you can then easily cancel the first reservation.
Reservations may be canceled, with the deposit refunded in full, by calling 407-WDW-DINE. Each restaurant at the Walt Disney World Resort has its own cancellation policy, so be sure to check your reservation. Youll want to know if the cancellation window is 48 or 24 hours before the reservation to avoid any fees.
Couldnt get the Character dining ADR you wanted? Consider at the Sunshine BreakfasTime at Wyndham Lake Buena Vista. The cost is about half what youd pay at a Disney World restaurant and the best part, no ADR needed!

Consider Purchasing Some Assistance
There are two popular tools that will monitor the Disney system in search of your dining reservations. MouseDining is dedicated to this task, and they even partner with some travel agencies to assist agents in helping their clients. Touring Plans has an ADR search tool, but youll need a full Touring Plans subscription to use it.
Weve only used either of these in limited fashion so dont really have an opinion one way or the other. They do seem to work and we frequently hear success stories about both.
Trick #: Join A Waitlist
This one probably wont help you with the hardest most popular restaurants, but it may help you with some other dining reservations you werent able to get.
Disney recently rolled out a waitlist feature on the My Disney Experience app, allowing you the opportunity to join the walk-up waitlist and get in the restaurant if they have availability.
This likely wont help you at the more popular restaurants like Topolinos Terrace, for example, but it may help you get in somewhere.
You can check which restaurants feature the waitlist, which ones are currently full due to high demand, and even join a waitlist all on the My Disney Experience app. Click the + sign on the home screen, click check dining availability, choose your party size and todays date, and click now to see what is available.

Which Disney World Restaurants Take Reservations
Before we go on, lets clarify that this post doesnt talk about Disney World dining plans or how to use them. Well use some of the same terminology , but you dont really need to know about dining plans to know about reservations, or vice versa.
The Disney World website lists 439 restaurants . This includes various seasonal and non-seasonal dining experiences and packages, but its a good rough approximation of the number of restaurants offered. Of those, 159 Disney World restaurants take reservations. Roughly a third of those are special packages or unique offerings that we arent really covering in this post.
For the most part, this breaks down simply. Most of the restaurants that take reservations are the table service or buffet restaurants. If youve got a waiter, it probably takes reservations. Some of these restaurants are at Disney hotels, some are at Disney Springs, some are in the Disney parks.
If its a quick service restaurant where youll be walking up to a register and ordering, it usually wont take reservations. There are notable exceptions, like Be Our Guest, which offers quick service at breakfast and lunch while also taking reservations for those meals.
The bottom line for this section is simple: if you want to dine somewhere, you should always check if it takes reservations. Disney is expanding restaurants that take reservations regularly, with recent additions like Beaches and Cream and ABC Commissary surprising many.

When Can I Book Restaurants
Figuring out when you can book dining reservations in Walt Disney World is one of the most important steps because time is of the essence.
UPDATE:All Walt Disney World guests can now make dining reservations. Disney had temporarily suspended the Advanced Dining Reservation system, but it is now open once again.
As of July 2020 during the Disney World reopening, Advanced Dining Reservations can be made up to 60 days in advance.
Before this latest change, dining reservations in Disney World were available 180 days in advance. This new 60-day booking window is temporary and at some point it will go back to 180 days.
Disney Advanced Dining Reservations can be made the following number of days in advance:
- All Guests (guests not staying in Walt Disney World 60 Days
- Walt Disney World Resort hotel guests 60 Days + 10
The best restaurants in Disney World always fill up quickly so try to make your reservations exactly on the 60-day window if possible. The sooner you make your advanced dining reservations the more likely you are to get a table at the restaurant you want to dine in.
What Time Do I Have To Show Up
Its important to show up in time for your dining reservations in Disney World. Disney will hold your reservation for up to 15 minutes past your original seating time.
If you are more than 15 minutes late, your dining reservation will be canceled and you will be subject to a no-show fee of $10 per person. Sometimes Disney is flexible with this rule, but it depends on the restaurant.
For that reason, we encourage you to show up 10-15 minutes early for your reservation, especially if it requires you taking transportation to get there. This will ensure you have enough time and you will not be late.
The check-in process might be faster now with the new Disney Mobile Dine Check-In app which allows you to skip the host stand and go directly to your table. Well update you when we have more experience using it.

Getting Through On The Phone Quickly
The fastest way to make your dining reservations is to use Disneys online booking system or the MyDisneyExperience app on your phone.
If for some reason you need or want to use the phone, be aware that hold times can be long when calling Disneys Dining Reservations department at , particularly first thing in the morning and 60 days before any major holiday. Youll usually get through more quickly on weekday evenings after about 8:00 pm ET. The reservations department is open 7:00 am to 11:00 pm ET.
Tips For Dining With A Large Group
- If booking a large group, try eating during off hours instead of during peak dining times to maximize your chances of securing an Advanced Dining Reservation.
- When making reservations, dont be afraid to split your group into a few reservations. Your party may be split anyway depending on the size of your group. Note If you do try to book 2 reservations you will need to call the reservation line as opposed to booking online since the website wont allow you to hold 2 reservations that overlap.
- An automatic gratuity of 18% is added onto all parties of 6 more.
- Like all Advanced Dining Reservations, book in the order of popularity NOT in the chronological order of your trip.
- When making dining reservations for large groups, be aware that most restaurants have a maximum group size per reservation. This varies based on restaurant and time. We will touch on that more below.
- All members of a party must be present in order to be seated, so make sure everybody knows when and where they are supposed to be!
- Some Disney Springs restaurants reserve tables apart from the Disney reservation service. If you cannot find any available reservations, try to calling the restaurant itself, rather than Disney.

Ask A Cast Member At The Restaurant
Another option that guests have is to go to the restaurant and ask if there are any tables available. Although there will most likely be nothing right away, many Cast Members try to carve out space for guests who ask for it, and will give a reservation away within a few hours. Again, this option is not a guarantee, but actually works more often than not.

Keep Searching When You Arrive
Many guests may arrive to Disney World and stop searching for those must-do dining reservations. I mean, this makes sense because you’re busy and you may not want to spend time doing this on your trip. But even if you set aside a few minutes in the morning and evening to check, you may find the dining reservation you were looking for!
Since Disney World’s policy is to charge $10 per person cancellation fee for no shows if guests don’t cancel 24 hours prior to their reservation you may have the most luck for cancellations 24 hours before your ideal time. I managed to find two of my sought after reservation times while we were already at Disney World because I took the time to keep checking and it paid off.
