How Much Is Uber From Orlando Airport To Disney World

Which Is Better For Your Trip

Orlando Airport to Disney World 2022 – Mears Connect, Sunshine Flyer, Uber, Lyft, Taxi Prices & More

So, looking at these numbers, it looks like the cheaper option for guests would be taking an Uber, though there are still some other factors to consider.

Mears Connect does not have surge pricing rates, so the cost on their price chart is the cost that youll be paying no matter when or where youre traveling to. Whereas, with Uber, you could end up paying more than the cost of Mears Connect due to all of the variables.

Another thing to consider when deciding which transportation service youd prefer for your Disney World trip is whether youre willing to ride on a coach bus with other guests and make stops at other resorts before being dropped off.

Mears Connect Express Service is your only option to get straight to your hotel without a wait and costs $250 at a minimum. On the other hand, Uber will always provide you with the direct service and could cost much less than $250.

And, youll want to think about all the luggage you plan to bring with you when deciding! Both Mears Connect and Uber do not charge for luggage, however, if youre traveling with many bags you may have trouble fitting into Ubers smaller transportation options and end up needing to pay more for a larger car.

Overall, youll certainly need to weigh your options when deciding how youd like to get between the airport and your Disney World hotel when visiting after January 1st, 2022, but when it comes down to cost, Uber seems to have Mears Connect beat.

How To Call An Uber From Orlando International Airport

If you want to take an Uber then make sure you have collected all your bags and then request a vehicle on the App. Once you have done that you need to go to the exit on Level 2 Arrivals and wait for your vehicle to arrive.

Always make sure that you check that the type of vehicle and the registration number of the car match with that shown on your app.

Can an Uber driver charge more for luggage? No, but always have in mind the amount of luggage that you have when you order your Uber.

You do not want to be crammed in the bag seat with your suitcases on your knee!

Always make sure that you order the Uber type of car that best suits your needs.

Different Types Of Uber Vehicles

You have various different choices according to the type of Uber vehicle you want.

UberX is the standard choice. The car will take up to 4 riders.

If you have up to six people then an UberXL is a good option. This will be an SUV or Van.

Comfort also takes up to 4 passengers but are newer vehicles with more legroom.

UberBLACK is the ultimate Uber. It is meant to compete with a town car type service. You will be transported in a black luxury vehicle and be driven by a professional driver.

However, if you need a car seat to be provided in your Uber you can request this. However, if you are taking a Car Seat in your UberX or Uber XL there is an additional charge.

Is There A Free Shuttle From Orlando Airport To Disney World

What about Disneys Magical Express Service? This used to be a wonderful perk for Walt Disney World Resort guests who wanted to easily get from MCO to their Disney World Hotel.

The service was free and incredibly efficient. Disneys Magical Express even handled your checked bags for you so that you didnt have to go to luggage claim.

You simply checked your luggage at your departure airport and then Disney would magically do the rest. The next time you would see your luggage would be inside your Walt Disney World Hotel room!

A wonderful free system that many Disney Resort guests used.

However, Disneys Magical Express Service came to an end on January 1st, 2022.

If you want an alternative bus transportation service from January 2022 you can book now at Mears Connect.

Mears actually operated the Magical Express for Disney, even though most guests never realized this.

The service, hopefully, will be much the same except of course you will have to pay for it!

I really do hope that with the change in the service from Magical Express there isnt a downturn in customer service and efficiency.

Also, when there is no longer an option for a free shuttle for all those Disney Resort guests the temptation will be for all other services to put up prices. Lets hope that this doesnt happen.

There will be two different levels of service available from the new Mears Connect when it starts up in January 2022.

If you are booking now there is introductory pricing available:

Complete Guide to Using Uber at Walt Disney World

With the end of Disneys Magical Express, many vacationers are going to start asking how they can get from MCO to Disney World. You can get to Walt Disney World via Mears Connect, Lyft/Uber, taxi, or by renting a car. We have a breakdown of what to expect with each method of transportation, how much itll cost, and how you can get from MCO to Disney World if youre driving yourself.

Taking A Taxi To Disney World

If youre not a fan of Lyft or Uber, you can always opt for a traditional taxi to take you to your resort. In most cases, a taxi ride will cost you between $55-$65 to transport you from MCO to the airport.

Pros and Cons of Taking a Taxi to Disney

On one hand, taxi drivers know the fastest routes in Orlando, so theyll be able to get you to your destination quickly. Furthermore, you usually get friendly service in a taxi. However, the drawbacks to using a taxi are many. First, youre limited in regards to options if youre with a large party. Whereas you can rent a large vehicle with a Lyft or Uber, you may have to opt for taking two taxis if youre traveling with a large group or pay extra for a van.

Second, taxis dont usually come equipped with a car seat, so youll have to lug one around with you if you choose to go with this option. This could be problematic if lets say you wanted to hang out at Disney Springs after flying into MCO.

About Lyft And Those Minnie Vans

This post is not about Minnie Vans. Minnie Vans are an Uber-like service operated by Disney in partnership with Ubers largest competitor, Lyft. Much of this guide is applicable to Lyft, as well, and Shannon at WDW Prep School makes some good points about why she prefers Lyft to Uber.

Minnie Vans are a substantially different service, though. We dont cover Minnie Vans here because they cost much more than Uber, at $25+ per trip. We do use Minnie Vans occasionally, just to keep tabs on them, and theyve just never justified their high prices.

Important Concerns & Caveats For Uber Car Seat Orlando

As much as I liked the service, there are always a few caveats parents need to know about and consider before using a service like Uber Car Seat.

Magic band, Disney Planes sippy cup, & Mickey ears ready to ride to WDW.

Safety. Just as with any car seat that it not your own, you will not know its history whether it has been in an accident, whether it has been properly maintained, etc. I would say that if you are comfortable using a rental car seat from a rental car company, this is certainly at least as safe. But it is your call as a parent to make, just like any other calculated risk in life. Judgment free zone here .

I grilled our Uber Car Seat driver during our ride to get the inside scoop for concerned parents to help you make an educated decision. He said that the process for becoming an Uber Car Seat driver definitely required quite a few hoops to jump through, so that was reassuring. Our driver had to buy a new car seat that was one of several specified models . He had to send in photos of the seat both outside and inside the car to demonstrate compliance and to show that it would fit in his vehicle. So, at least there is somewhat of a hurdle for drivers to clear.

One Car Seat Only. Uber Car Seat also only works for families with one child of car seat age. There are no cars available with two or more seats.

One wait time example same route at the exact same time. UberX wait was 7 minutes and only 11 minutes for UberX + Car Seat.

What Disney Fans Should Know About Ridesharing In Orlando Right Now

by David Mumpower·March 18, 2022

Okay, let me be clear at the start. What were about to discuss seems trivial relative to the cause of the matter.

Yes, gas prices have increased in this country. Another country has performed an unlawful invasion and accidentally tanked its own economy in the process.

Image: Encyclopedia Britannica

For this reason, nobody else will purchase anything from them, including oil.

This behavior has led to a surge in gas prices. No, the prices didnt have to go up. Oil companies are using this situation to turn a huge profit. Yes, thats gross.

Anyway, the point is that events far beyond any of our control have spiked the cost of gas. And the fallout from that could impact your next Disney visit.

Heres what you should know about ridesharing in Orlando right now.

How Do You Get From Disney To Universal Without A Car

How to Travel From Disney to Universal Without Your Vehicle. A lot of travelers fly into Florida and take either Disney’s Magical Express or an Uber, Lyft, or taxi from the airport to their Disney Resort hotel. This leaves families without a car to get from Disney to Universal, should they choose to hit both parks.

Private Car Service At Mco

This option may sound decadent and out of reach, but can actually be quite affordable. The sweet spot for these services, in my opinion, is larger families who want to reduce travel times. With Uber and Lyft, it can get pricey trying to find a larger size car that will fit everyone. On a shuttle bus service like Mears, you may make stops on the way to the hotel room. With private car service, we were able to price out options for 7-10 passengers starting at just $130ish. Ultimate Town Car offers one perk that the others dont. A free 15 minute grocery stop. You can learn more on their site. We know that packing your own snacks at WDW is a great way to save money. Being able to pickup groceries on the way to your hotel is clutch.

Drivers will meet you inside the airport at the bottom of the escalators near baggage claim. They will have a sign with your name on it .

One thing to note is that your credit card will be charged 48 hours before your trip and a 20% gratuity is added automatically. For a family of 4 this option would cost roughly $129.60 one way at the cheapest level making it significantly cheaper than Mears Connect Express. Ultimate Town Car does offer car seat options at no cost with some limits.

Uber Universal To Disney World

Uber Disney World to Universal

The average cost of Uber from Universal Studios to Disney World is generally between $15-$35 each way, depending on the time, day, and season. Its helpful to check the app throughout the day, and plan your travel for a less busy time of day. If you are planning to travel during rush hour, know that the price could be higher than normal.

Universal recently changed their Uber pick-up and drop-off location, giving ride-share services their own area on the fifth floor of the Jurassic Park section in the North parking garage of Universal CityWalk. Along with that, they instituted a $4 fee for Uber pick-ups at their theme parks. At this time, the fee does not apply at their resorts. Universal said that the extra fees were going towards a lounge for riders to wait for their pick-up and better signage. This extra fee might not seem like a lot, but it can add up during your vacation, so keep that in mind.

Train From Orlando International Airport To Disney Springs

What a wonderful idea it would be to have a train going from Orlando International Airport to Disney Springs.

Fortunately, this isnt just an idea it is a definite plan and construction has started on this Brightline Expansion in Orlando.

The Brightline Train will carry passengers from Miami to Orlando with stops in Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach.

The journey from West Palm Beach to Orlando is approximately 2 hours, with trains traveling up to 125 miles per hour.

It is expected that the extension to Orlando International Airport will be complete sometime in 2022.

Thats the good news.

The not-so-good news is that construction recently shut down on the Disney Springs expansion as there is a dispute over the route which the train should take.

Completion of the Disney Springs Train Line isnt expected until 2026.

It isnt yet known what transportation options that Disney will offer to hotel guests who arrive at Disney Springs on the train.

Hopefully, they will be able to use the Disney bus transportation system to get them to their hotel.

How Can You Get From Orlandos Airport To Disney World Use Private Car Services

Private limos and car services have been around for a long time and are a great option to get your family from the Orlando airport to Walt Disney World.

One option to consider is through a Facebook group called Ear For Each Other.

This group formed when the cast members in Orlando were laid off and looking for side gigs to turn into moneymakers.

There are a few highly regarded, safe, and responsible cast members who are happy to help you get to Disney from the airport.

Another great option is Destination MCO, a private luxury car service that transports to and from Disney and the airport.

Vans, SUVs, luxury sedans, and limos can all be rented for your trips to the resorts at Disney World.

If youre looking to arrive in style, this might just be the way to go!

Tip : Plan Ahead And Schedule An Uber Ride

If your plans are set in stone, you can actually schedule an Uber ride ahead of time. You can schedule a ride up to 30 days in advance, and if you schedule at least an hour in advance, the price of your trip will be locked in. This can be especially convenient if youre planning on using Uber to get from the airport to Disney World or if you know that you need to leave the park at a specific time to make a dining reservation.

Heres how ride scheduling works through the Uber app :

  • In the Uber app, tap on Schedule or the button that says Now next to the Where to? bar.
  • Set your pick-up date, time, location, destination, and ride type the app will give you a price estimate.
  • Confirm all the details of your trip and tap Schedule.
  • Note that you can edit or cancel the scheduled ride at any time before your pick-up time.

Why To Use Uber At Walt Disney World

Best Way to get to Disney World? Mears Shuttle, Sunshine Flyer, Uber, to Disney

There are a few reasons you might need to use Uber during your visit. First, your accommodations might not have sufficient transportation. If youre at an Airbnb, youre on your own for transportation. Some hotels have shuttles, but theyre paid per person. Other hotels have free shuttles, but theyre bad or dont run often enough. Disneys free transportation is a perk of staying at a Disney hotel, but it is far from perfect.

Second, you need to get between hotels. If you want to get from Wilderness Lodge to Polynesian Village Resort for breakfast, the front desk will tell you to budget around an hour for the boat ride to Magic Kingdom, connection to the monorail, and monorail ride to Polynesian. Thats unacceptable. The Uber ride is less than ten minutes and costs around $7.

Third, youre in a rush. As youll see throughout this guide, Uber is not perfect. If youre in a rush, Uber is no guarantee that youll get to your destination faster than a Disney bus route directly between your two points. But really, Disney transportation is only going to beat Uber if they pickup at the same time and something goes wrong on your Uber ride. Magic Kingdom, with its special drop-off location for Disney transport, is an exception to this rule.
