What Extra Expenses Should I Expect
Speaking of extra fun, dont forget to factor in extras to your total cost. These extras can include things such as specialty food offered during the holidays, souvenirs for the kiddos and a round of mini golf at Fantasia Gardens. Even though many special experiences havent reopened yet! there are still so many ways to have fun outside the theme parks. And heres how to save on Disney souvenirs and 14 things to buy before your trip to save money..
My family loves the benefit of having aDisney Visa credit card. Our credit card saves us 10% on purchases of $50 or more at most Disney stores. We also earn points on every purchase that we make, Disney or not, that we can then turn into a redemption card that can be used at any Disney Parks resort, restaurant, or store!
Option : Rent A House Near Disney World
We did the home rental thing in our second week. It was nice to have the extra space after being in a hotel room for a week
Renting a house close to Disney World has its benefits too. We rented a 4 bedroom home close by the park for $100 a night. There was a pool, which was really nice to come home to after a long day in the heat. We found our place on HomeAway and it was a decent place at a decent price.
As far as which one is cheaper, its a toss up. Staying at a Value Resort in Disney World has a lot of benefits. You dont have to rent a car, transportation is all taken care of .
Dont Forget to Add In Transportation Costs!
The big difference in renting a house is that you will need transportation every day. So even though the house may be cheaper than the resort, the extra costs of a rental car and parking at the parks every day will eat away at your savings.
But its about the same cost once you factor in daily parking, car rental, gas and insurance. If you were able to split a house with another family, it would be cheaper. Or perhaps you want to check out other parks, or head to the ocean. Its a lot easier in a house.
The one last thing I will say about a home rental was that it as nice to have the extra space.
Benefits of Renting a House When Going to Disney World
Another feature we loved about the house was being able to do our laundry. Just one other consideration if you were to stay for a few weeks.
How Much Does Transportation To Disney World Cost
Will you be flying in to Orlando International Airport or driving from home? Staying offsite or at a Disney Resort?
Although some prices are fixed, transportation expenses can vary greatly depending upon where you are coming from, how you are getting there, and how many people youll be traveling with.
When putting together your Disney transportation expenses, make sure you take these things into account:

Are Park Hopper Tickets Worth It
This is a bit subjective. Park hopper tickets are beneficial if you have a limited amount of time in Disney World but want to see as much as possible. For example, if youve only got two days, getting a two day, hopper ticket will allow you to see all the parks. However, its impossible to go on every ride during that time. You could spend an entire day at one park and still not get on every ride . If its your first time to Disney World, spending four days is ideal.
Parking Transportation And Souvenirs
Were on a budget, right? That means taking Disneys Magical Express complimentary bus shuttle to and from the airport . Youll need to allow a bit of extra time, but Disney will take care of delivering any checked baggage you have directly to your hotel room as long as you tag your bags appropriately. If you choose to bypass the Magical Express, parking fees at value resorts such as Pop Century and All-Star will run you $15 per night, and you should budget at least $150 for a rental car for five nights, and you may even have trouble finding one. Paying the parking fee at the resort means you wont have to pay to park your car at the theme parks. If youre trying to save money, rely on Disneys vast network of buses to get you to and from the parks.
That really only leaves souvenirs. I budgeted $25 per day, which would get something for each child in each park. How much you can spend on souvenirs varies greatly. To save even more money here, consider some of the many locations just outside Disney World property that sell cheap souvenirs . However, youll have to pay for a taxi to get to these if you didnt rent a car.

How To Save Money Dining At Disney
The days of free dining may be behind us at least for now but that doesnt mean you cant stretch your Disney dining dollar. Restaurant meal offerings are very generous in size. Sometimes even aquick service meal keeps me full for most of the day. And my kids can always share one meal without problem, especially if we promise a popcorn bucket refill later that afternoon.
If you want to save on food costs at Disney, book a hotel room with a small kitchen and plan to eat in a few times during your trip. Or book a FRBO villa to spread out and eat a meal in comfort and safety with minimal cost to you. Or rent that RV with the kitchen!
Option : Book A Hotel Close By
The other option is staying at a close by hotel.
If you are looking for a hotel offsite, there are plenty. The key is to find something that offers good shuttle service to the parks.
Normally when we book hotels we use Hotwire . They give you great hotels and discounted prices. For this trip you would need to make sure that they are in the right area. The reason for the deep discounts with Hotwire is that you dont know the hotel name you are booking until you pay.
Using Hotwire in the past, we have gotten some great deals. Things like a 4 star hotels for the price of a 2 star or saving 50% off a hotel like Delta and Sheraton. There are some great deals and you will know most of the details about the hotel before you book.
Hotwire tells you the amenities, services and reviews from recently stayed guest are all provided to help you decide if its the right hotel for you. It can feel like a bit of a gamble but it can be a great way to save money.

Average Cost Of Food At Disney World
On average, families can expect to spend around $200 a day on food and beverages. However, that price can vary depending on what kinds of dining experiences you opt for. To keep your food expenses to a minimum, its recommended that you dine at Disneys quick-service locations. This will usually offer menus of classic foods such as hot dogs, cheeseburgers, and chicken nuggets. You can grab snacks throughout the day from various dining carts, as well. You can also keep your beverage costs to a minimum if you bring in your own water bottle, as a water bottle will cost about $4.50 per person.
You can economize by also bringing in your own snacks such as fruits, nuts, gummy snacks, crackers, and granola bars. Id avoid bringing in sandwiches or anything else that could get soggy from being out in the heat all day. Furthermore, you can bring your own box of cereal and purchase an individual bottle of milk every morning for breakfast to help save some cash.
Doing this could save you a few hundred dollars a day. Because Im not at Disney World every week, I tend to overindulge in snacks that I dont normally eat at home, even if Im not really hungry. A lot of snacking at Disney is opportunistic, to be honest.

It’s A World Of Laughter A World Of Tears
Disney obviously isn’t the only one bumping prices higher in the new normal. SeaWorld Entertainment increased pass prices at its Florida parks last month. Universal Orlando parent Comcast pushed out increases of 11% to 15% for all of its annual passes last week.
If you may have missed these inflationary headlines detailing the higher costs of being a regular at one of Disney World’s rival attractions, it’s just because it’s so much easier to write about the moves at the world’s largest theme park operator. Unlike SeaWorld and Comcast, Disney World didn’t jack up its pass prices this year. In fact, it’s not even selling most of them right now. Demand is so high that Disney is only selling a seasonal pass available to Florida residents that limits admissions to weekdays during non-peak periods.
This is a good time for the industry. Escapism is currency, and folks aren’t flinching at the higher prices that the proprietors of gated getaways are charging. SeaWorld Entertainment, Comcast, and Disney all posted record or near-record quarterly results this earnings season. If we’re asking when Disney’s pricing moves have gone too far, the obvious answer is when guests are no longer willing to pay. We’re not there just yet.
