Universal Studios Parking Discounts

How to Park at Disney World

Annual pass holders receive different discounts dependent on the type of pass. For example, premier pass holders get Universal free parking for Valet or Prime and can upgrade to Red Carpet Valet for $20 as opposed to $60. Preferred pass holders get free Self-Parking or can Valet for only $20 and have the option of upgrading to Red Carpet Valet for $35 when available. Power and Seasonal passes do not include any parking discounts or free parking for Universal Studios Orlando. There is also no Universal Studios Orlando parking pass, just ticket passes with potential parking benefits.

However, these discounts are only valid at a Universal Studios Orlando parking garage. They are not meant for parking at Universal Studios hotels. Plus, pass holders will not be able to use their discounts on even nights like , Halloween Horror Nights, or New Years Eve, and would still have to pay a Universal Studios parking fee.

Handicap Parking At Universal Studios

The disabled parking is on the same level meant for general parking, and the Universal Studios Orlando parking cost remains the same as any general admission. Handicapped parking is on Level 3, the same level with direct access to the covered walkways, meaning theres no need to use stairs or elevators. However, there will not be marked spaces for wheelchair entry and exist. There is also the option for valet parking.

Walt Disney World Parking Trams at MAGIC KINGDOM HD

After counting the available spaces at the four Disney parks using Google Earth, and seeing just how few there really are, I checked the Americans with Disabilities Act requirement for disabled parking lots. The U.S. Department of Justices 2010 Standards for Accessible Design states that for 1001 spaces and over, there must be 20 plus 1 for each 100, or a fraction thereof, over 1000. Thats not very many, considering how many people now have these coveted parking permits. Again, I will not be addressing hotel parking.

The cost of parking at any Disney theme park is $14. Keep your receipt if you want to park at any other park for the day. General information can be found here. All Disney handicapped parking lots have complimentary wheelchairs available to use for park entry and to help you to the wheelchair rental stands.

Your Guide To Parking Fees At Walt Disney World

Over the past few months, Disney has made a few important changes worth noting for those planning on driving a car to Walt Disney World. Whether youre staying onsite at one of Walt Disney Worlds amazing resorts or opting to stay off-site and drive in each day, parking fees can add quite a bit to your Disney budget. To help you plan ahead, heres everything you need to know about parking at Disney.

Parking Fees for those staying onsite Historically, free onsite parking has been one of the major perks for those choosing to stay onsite at a Walt Disney World resort. Sadly, this changed earlier this year with the announcement that Disney would begin charging resort guests nightly for parking. The fees are based on the category of resort you are staying in and look like this:

  • Value Resorts $13 per night
  • Moderate Resorts $19 per night
  • Deluxe Resorts $24 per night
  • Valet Park- $33 per night

But I booked my package last year and was told nothing about parking will I still have to pay? No. anyone who booked in their Walt Disney World vacation package before March 21, 2018, will not be required to pay the fee.

We are going to be bringing more than one car with us. Is the rate per room or per car? The rate is per car. If you are going to have two cars under the same reservation than that will double the nightly fee.

Parking at Disneys theme-parks remains free for guests staying onsite at a Walt Disney World Resort.

Here is the current Disney World parking cost at the theme parks for 2019:

Using Credit Card Rewards To Offset Parking Costs

While it isnt free parking, you can use credit card rewards to offset parking costs. If this isnt for you, I do have a trick to park 100% for free at Disney World coming up.

Its important to note that not everyone should use these strategies to score Disney World free parking. If you have credit card debt or dont pay your balance off in full each month, youll pay more in interest than youll earn in rewards.

That said, some credit cards offer a flat two percent cash back on all purchases. If you can save up that cash back over a year, youd probably have enough to cover four days of standard parking, or $100. Think of it as a Disney World parking discount.

However, I personally like to earn my credit card rewards through sign up bonuses. Banks will give you free money for simply signing up for their credit card and trying it out.

You usually have to meet a minimum spending requirement to earn the bonus. Even so, its free money that you can use to pay for your Disney parking if you put your regular spending on your new card and pay it off in full each month.

Heres are a few examples of credit card sign up bonuses that would work well for this.

You can sign up for the Bank of America Cash Rewards Credit Card and get a $200 cash rewards bonus by spending $1,000 on purchases within the first 90 days of opening your account.

What Is Included In Preferred Parking At Walt Disney World Theme Parks

When preferred parking first rolled out at Walt Disney World, it included a few bottles of water, chilled and ready to cool you off. A Cast Member would direct you to the preferred parking, provide the water, and see if you had any questions.

Those extra touches are not very common nowadays. For the most part, preferred parking just gets you closer to the park entrance. With the lack of parking trams right now, its not a bad deal if you get to the parks later in the morning and into the afternoon. First thing in the morning, however, youll usually be parked right behind the preferred parking section. Overall, its just not as special of an enhancement as it once was when it first rolled out.

Also, be aware the pricing for preferred parking can go up in busier seasons like spring break, the winter holidays, and much of summer.

How To Park For Free At Universal Orlando

The only time there is free parking at Universal Studios Orlando is after 6PM or if you are going to see a daytime movie. If you are going to a matinee show at Universal Cinemark, the theater offers free self-parking with the purchase of two or more movie tickets. However, although this is a way on how to get free parking at Universal Orlando, you will still have to pay a Universal Studios Orlando parking fee in the garages upfront. After the movie, you will present your movie tickets and parking receipt to the Universal Cinemax box office.

Also, if you leave the parking garage and plan on coming back later on, you do not need to pay again. Just make sure to keep your same-day receipt and show the toll plaza when you return.

If Youre Staying At A Disney World Hotel

If youre staying at a Disney World Resort this vacationFirst of all, thats awesome! Have an amazing time. The resorts are super fun and keep you immersed in that Disney setting weve come to love oh-so-much.

Disneys Art of Animation Resort

However, just because youre staying on property doesnt mean youve escaped the parking fees. If youre staying at a value resort, youre going to have to pay $15 per night to park your car at the resort. The same goes for the moderate and deluxe resorts. If youre staying at a moderate resort expect to pay $20 per night, and if youre staying at a deluxe resort, prepare to pay $25 per night.

If you bring a car to Disney World, dont forget about those overnight parking fees!

The only exception to this rule is if youre staying at theFort Wilderness Campsite parking is free! But thats good for only one vehicle and takes up only one parking space. Any more than that and you may have to turn out your pockets, if you know what we mean.

But for the other ResortsYIKES, right? Those parking fees add up QUICKLY. Fortunately, you dont have to pay to park at the Disney Parks on top of that. Resort guests only have to pay to park in the Magic Kingdom, Disneys Animal Kingdom, EPCOT, and Disneys Hollywood Studios parking lots if they want to upgrade to Preferred Parking, which is $20-$25 per day for the upgrade.

Disney World rolled out a preferred parking program back in 2016, allowing theme park visitors to get a closer parking spot at entrances to all four of their theme parks. Other theme parks in Orlando have charged for preferred parking for years. Regular car parking at Universal Studios garage is $20, with a preferred Prime Parking upgrade cost of $30. Universal offers valet parking ranging from $20 to $50 depending on how long you park your car. SeaWorld parking is $18, with a preferred parking upgrade cost of $23.

How much does Disney charge for parking and do you need to splurge on the up-charge for closer parking or take your chances just parking in the back?

Where Is The Parking At Disney World

There are separate parking lots for each of the four theme parks at Disney World: Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom.

The parking lots at Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom are directly adjacent to the theme parks. You can walk from your car to the front entrance of the park or take the free trams.

The Magic Kingdom parking lot is located across the Seven Seas Lagoon from the theme park at what is known as the Transportation and Ticket Center .

It is NOT possible to walk to Magic Kingdom from the parking lots you must take the monorail or a large ferry boat from the TTC to get to the front entrance

I suggest planning for 20-30 minutes to get from your car to the front entrance to Magic Kingdom via monorail or ferry. Trams are also available to bring you to the TTC from your car.

Universal Parking Tips For Guests Traveling From Disney World

Its important to note that there are many ways to avoid having to pay for parking at Universal Studios. Many guests might not realize that both Disney and Universal offer their guests free shuttle transportation to and from both parks. For this reason if you are staying on Walt Disney World property and trying to figure out how to get to and park at Universal you might find it easier to hop on one of the theme park shuttles.

Both theme parks are about a 20 minute drive to one another depending on the day, so we do find the free shuttles to be a great option.

Mom Visiting Disney World With Disabled Son Gets Nasty Note For Taking 2 Parking Spots

Tricia Proefrock

ORLANDO, Fla. – A Florida mother with a disabled child says she was left a mean note on her car at Walt Disney World by another visitor after taking up two parking spots.

Tricia Proefrock lives in Palm Beach Gardens and brought her 13-year-old son Mason to the Magic Kingdom last week.

“Its the highlight of both of our lives,” she told FOX 35 News.

Mason has Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome. Proefrock says it’s a type of epilepsy that can affect an individuals ability to walk, talk or even see correctly. Seizures are also common with the syndrome. Because of his physical disabilities, Mason uses a wheelchair and they typically park in Disney’s handicapped section.

Tricia Proefrock

“When the side of the lot with ramp accesses are full, the only remaining spots have no ramp access,” she explained. “Every single time out of dozens of trips, the cast members instruct me to take two spots, by parking directly on the white line. This gives me room to wheel my son out of the vehicle.”

Proefrock says it’s not something she likes doing, but it’s what cast members have told her to do since there are no other options.

After spending time at the park, Proefrock says some “kind soul” left a parking violation on her windshield.

Disney World Resort Parking Fees

How much does it cost to visit an Orlando Theme Park (Disney World, Universal & SeaWorld)?

The cost per night is:

  • Value Resorts: $15 per night
  • Moderate Resorts: $20 per night
  • Deluxe Resorts: $25 per night

Resort Valet Parking: Only available at the Deluxe resorts and villas, valet parking is $33 per night. Its free to guests with valid disability placards.

You can visit Disneys website page on parking here.

Free resort parking There are guests who are exempt and dont pay resort parking fees:
  • If you booked your resort reservations prior to March 21st, 2018 .
  • Disney Vacation Club members wont pay if theyre staying in a DVC Deluxe Villa, and if theyre using DVC points to stay in other Disney resorts .
  • Guests visiting as a part of a group or convention
  • Guests with disabilities .
  • Guests who come for the day to visit the resort to enjoy things like the restaurants, shops, recreational activities, etc. Theyre limited to 3 hours of parking.
  • Guests staying at the Campsites at Disneys Fort Wilderness Resort will still get free parking. Each campsite has space for one car.

In the past, when trying to decide whether or not to stay on property, free parking has been an deciding factor for many people. This is going to be disappointing to many guests who will see their trip costs go up. Regardless, with the increases in attendance and the new attractions opening this year, its unlikely to slow attendance at Disney. Also consider that many other non-Disney resorts have been charging these fees all along.
