Will The Disney Dining Plan Save You Money
The amount you spend on dining at Disney World will depend on the level of dining plan you choose, the time of year you visit Disney, and package deals.
Disney typically offers a short-term promotion that includes free dining when families book their hotel packages. The promotion is wildly popular and does sell out quickly, so you might want to speak with your Disney travel agent about if and when the promotion will be offered.
If you plan on eating at a lot of Table Services restaurants, then one of the more inclusive Disney Dining Plans will probably be your best bet, especially if you do plan on ordering an alcoholic beverage with your meal. One of the less expensive dining plan options should be more than sufficient for a typical family . And if you are a light eater or dont drink alcohol, then paying out-of-pocket may work out to be the cheapest option. It just really depends on what you plan on ordering and which restaurants you wish to go to.
Dining Discount Is Really 10% At Select Table Service Restaurants Excluding Alcohol
A quick scroll through the benefits page reveals that the 20% figure is barely ever available, 10% is really the standard, and most of the locations included are table service restaurants. Alcohol is excluded. Keep in mind you can roughly replicate this discount for free with the Chase Disney Visa card.
Those discount likely still price you out of getting value from the Disney dining plans, but if you are still interested in a dining plan, you can purchase one as part of a ticketless package. We suggest working with an agent when considering one of these packages.
How Much Will Disney World Tickets Cost
Walt Disney World has four theme parks: Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios. As much as people enjoy the hotels, pools, shopping at Disney Springs, riding the monorail, etc, most people come to Disney for the theme parks. That said, theme park tickets are of utmost importance.
In years past, single-day tickets to Magic Kingdom were more expensive than tickets to the other three parks. That isnt necessarily the case today.
These days, the price of Disney World tickets are tiered and park admission is based on which day you visit. Generally speaking, Disney ticket prices are more expensive during the times when tickets are in-demand the most and less expensive during slower times. The Summer 2020 cost of a one-day ticket to any Disney World theme park ranges from $109 to $159. If you take the average of these figures, then you can expect to pay roughly $130 per person, per day at Disney World.
Disney structures their ticket prices in a way that rewards you for longer stays. In other words, the more days you add to your Disney pass, the more the ticket price per day goes down. For example, a 1-day ticket starts at $109, while a 5-day ticket starts at $88 per ticket, per day.
Disney occasionally runs special offers, which usually entails a discount package that includes your hotel stay, dining, and tickets. The current special is a 4-Park Magic Ticket, which is currently around $356 .

The extra cost on top of a Park Hopper ticket is a flat rate of $21.30 total for any ticket length. If you want to add this option to a Base Ticket, you need to also add Park Hopper, so the total cost to upgrade from a Base Ticket ranges from $90.53 to $111.83, depending on length.
When you add the Park Hopper Plus option to a Base or Park Hopper ticket, it extends the validity length of the ticket by one day. That doesnt add any park admission days, but does give you one extra day to use all your park days and special water park & sports visits. For example, a 7-day ticket normally is valid for a 10-day span, but adding Park Hopper Plus makes it valid for an 11-day span.
Disney World tickets are only valid on the dates you specify at purchase time . You can change the dates or options at any time before arriving, though if the change results in the price being higher, you have to pay the difference. If you make a change that results in a lower price, you dont get a refund. If they expire unused, they can still be traded for new tickets. Water Park & Sports Option
This option adds special visits to water parks and smaller attractions to your park tickets. Each visit can be one of the following:
- admission to Blizzard Beach water park
- admission to Typhoon Lagoon water park
- admission to ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex
- round of mini golf at Fantasia Gardens
- round of mini golf at Winter Summerland
- round of golf at Oak Trail family walking course
The extra cost on top of a Base Ticket is a flat $74.55, for any length of ticket.
The number of visits you get with the Water Park & Sports option is equal to the number of park days on the ticket. A 1-Day ticket has both 1-day of major park admission and 1 visit, a 3-Day ticket has both 3 days of major park admission and 3 visits, and so forth. This is an incentive to buy the longer passes, so that youll get more visits for your money.
When you add the Water Parks & Sports option to a Base ticket, it extends the validity length of the ticket by one day. That doesnt add any park admission days, but does give you one extra day to use all your park days and special water park & sports visits. Walt Disney World Annual Pass Renewal Discount
Renewing your annual pass usually comes with a discount of about 15%. For the Incredi-Pass, the renewal price is around $1,176 .
In most cases, it will make sense to seize the renewal discount, especially given the frequency of price increases. That said, if your schedule allows you to push your trips a few months each year, you might forgo the renewal and get a new annual pass. This requires thorough planning, though maybe not any more than is required to ensure you get value out of your annual pass.
