How Many Parks Are In Disney World

How Many Days For Magic Kingdom

Walt Disney World – How Many Days at Each Park?

Short Answer: Two Days

The Magic Kingdom is by far the most popular theme park at Walt Disney World and has the most to see and do. In our opinion you need to plan two days to see everything at the Magic Kingdom. This is especially true if you would like to see all of the character meet and greets and streetmosphere.

You can still have a great time with one day at Magic Kingdom, just know that you may have to pay for Disney Genie + if youre wanting to ride everything while visiting during a peak time. Please note that the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary Celebration is happening right now. That means for the next 18 months, there will be a lot more to see and do than during a non celebration year.

How Many Bricks Are In Cinderella’s Castle

One of the standard trick Disney trivia questions for many years was “how many bricks are in Cinderella Castle?” The answer, of course, is none. The castle is made of concrete, steel, cement, gypsum plaster, plastic shingles and fiberglass over a 600-ton framework of steel. No bricks were used in the construction.

A Few Important Considerations

Before we dive into specifics about how much time youll need when visiting Walt Disney World or Disneyland Resort , there are a few important points to consider that will affect how much time you will need in each park.

The most important of these is the age of your party membersparticularly if you have kids. Kids contagious joy is a large part of what makes Disney parks magical, but kids introduce a number of crucial factors to Disney trips. For one thing, the age of your kids will play a big role in how much time youll be able to spend in the parks. Children under the age of four tend to have mixed reactions to Disney parkssome enjoy the sights and sounds while other experiences might be surprisingly frightening. Babies and toddlers are likely to require extra attention that may require you to plan extended breaks . Many kids under four tend to enjoy the resort pool more than anything else on a Disney vacation.

Kids from the ages of about 4-5 up to 11 will likely want to spend a lot of time enjoying Disneys kid friendly rides. Magic Kingdom tends to be a favorite park of younger kids at Walt Disney World . There are certainly things for kids in this age range to enjoy at all of Disneys parks, but depending on their favorite characters and activities, there may be parks youll want to spend extra time at if it matches their interests.

So how much time do you need at each Disney park? Lets start with the smaller of Disneys two US resorts

Theme Parks And Design Immersion

A theme park differs from an amusement park in that the former must show some commitment to a theme other than unbridled enjoyment . To be a good amusement park, a place needs a good attraction lineup, but a theme park specifically needs something more .

Theme can be present in different ways. One way, for example, is simply to name the lands and rides something keeping with the theme and add some minimal level of on-theme design to the attractions. All theme parks, including the Disney parks, do at least this.

Tokyo DisneySea offers ports named, for example, Mysterious Island, Lost River Delta, and American Waterfront. In the castle parks, Adventurelands around the world offer rides. Frontierlands are home to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

Another way to bring theme into the park is in the design of the non-attraction elements, particularly the other details in the lands. Do the walkways, the stores, the open spaces, and the restaurants also fit the theme? This aspect of theme is most often referred to as the immersive quality of the park.

Disney excels at immersive design in its lands. For example, immersive design can be seen in Treasure Cove at Shanghai Disneyland, where the restaurants, shops, and walkways are designed to be reminiscent of a pirate-occupied Caribbean town.

The Disney park that we find best at immersive design is Tokyo DisneySea. Its themed ports radiate with detail, completely enveloping you once you set foot in them.

Attraction Lineup And Quality

A complete list of how many Disney Parks are there in the ...

Besides theme, attraction lineup is probably the most important factor in comparing theme parks. When we think about attraction lineups, we’re thinking how you’d compare these parks if you just ripped out the attractions, lined them up one after another, and rode/experienced them independent of the rest of the park. Attractions play a huge role in theming, too, but we’ll discuss that more later.

One of the quickest ways to compare two theme parks is just to talk about the attractions. At Disney parks, this is sometimes quite boring as many share identical or nearly identical rides. In general, attraction lineups will play a large role in our rankings, with bonus points being given for high-quality, unique attractions.

Some people no doubt think attractions are the most important or only thing that matters. Theres several reasons we disagree, but well quickly address two.

First of all, attractions are comparatively easy. The technology behind most attractions is available on the open market from third-party contractors. Anyone with enough money can pay to fill a patch of land with quality attractions.

To be clear, some attractions transcend this. Star Wars: Rise of the the Resistance is a narrative experience unlike any other. Avatar Flight of Passage has an emotional resonance that is incredibly hard to duplicate, even if you had all of the technology in hand.

The One Day Disney Experience

In case you havent noticed yet, Disney World is a huge place to cover. Fortunately for you, one day at Disney World might be difficult, but not impossible. So how will you cover so much ground in a day? Well, just take note of the following reminders:

  • Anticipate large queues and crowds. With the many tourists crawling all over Disney World, take on the roller coaster and thrilling rides with the longest queues in the first half of the day and then go to the rides that are slow so by the other half of the day. Other tourists would not want to wait in longs queues when they just arrived. Theyd usually take on the rides with shorter queues first and the rides with longer queues by the end of the day. So, lets try to use this situation to your advantage and do the opposite.
  • Have a ready list of the rides youll go to in order. Instead of daintily walking around and wasting time on deciding where to go next, have a simple checklist on you or on your smartphone. This way, the time you would waste on making up your mind would surely not happen.
  • Familiarize yourself with the Walt Disney World map. Instead of constantly looking at Google Maps or asking guards and staff on how to get around the place, make sure to at least get a sense of direction before you arrive at Disney World. More time equals to more ground will be covered within a day.
