How Many Days Do You Need At Disney World

How Many Days Do You Need For A Disney World Vacation

How Many Days Do You REALLY Need to Visit Disney World?

A lot of first time vacationers arent sure how many days they will need for a Walt Disney World vacation. It can seem incredibly intimidating because once you start planning a trip you realize how much there is to do. Every family has different limitations, but I wanted to give the average family a rough estimate how much they can accomplish with a set amount of time. These are all just my suggestions, but I wanted to give Disney novices at least a rough outline on what to expect when planning out how many days to visit.

Mornings Are The Most Important Part Of The Day

Morning is when crowds are lowest and when you have a chance to implement a good rope drop strategy that gets you on your first few rides of the day with next to no wait. You have three mornings which means you get to pick three parks to rope drop.

Theres a big caveat thoughyou need Early Theme Park Entry to really make mornings work. Early Theme Park Entry is a perk of staying at a Disney hotel that allows these guests exclusive access to each park every day for 30 minutes before other guests. On a three-day trip, it will usually make sense to pay a bit more to stay at a Disney hotel and enjoy this perk.

If you dont have Early Entry, you can still have a good morning , but youll be entering the park to decent crowds already.

Here are our posts for rope drop posts followed by our recommendations for where to start your days

Obviously we said to give a full day to Magic Kingdom, so youll be rope dropping that park.

We also recommend spending one morning at Hollywood Studios. Even with Genie+ and individual Lightning Lane purchases, Hollywood Studios is made much simpler by a successful rope drop.

So When Is The Best Time To Visit Disney World In 2022 And 2023

The very best times to visit Disney World in 2022 are …

    • The last week of April
    • Weekdays in the first half of May
    • The second half of August
    • Most days in September
    • Weekdays in November
    • Weekdays in December

Historically, September has been the very best month of the year to visit Disney World in terms of crowds because the kids have just returned to school. It is still our pick for the best month to visit, but it has become a more popular month to visit, most likely because of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party , Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando Resort and EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival. Do keep in mind that September is also the height of Orlando’s rainy season. You should prepare for daily afternoon thunderstorms and possibly even more rain.

The days after Thanksgiving leading up to the week of Christmas are also a good time to visit Disney World, although not as good as they used to be. With the popularity of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party or 2021’s Disney Very Merriest After Hours, which is held on select nights in November and December, and other factors, those days are also getting busier.

The very worst times to visit Disney World in 2022 are …

      • The first half of August
      • The week of Thanksgiving
      • The week of Christmas through the week of New Year

How Many Days At Disneyworld And Universal Orlando

You probably get this sort of question all the time. 🙂

A friend and I are planning our first trip to Orlando and want to make sure to check out Disneyworld and Universal Orlando. We’ve been to Disneyland in California and were able to get our fill in 1 day but we know Disneyworld is a much bigger beast.

We were thinking 3 days for Disneyworld , and 1 day for Universal. How would you all recommend we break this down? Should we be allocating 2d to Universal, and 1 less day to Disney .

      Thanks!

3 days at Disney is ok. You won´t get to see everything but I assume you know that. WDW is huge and you could spend a whole week there.

Universal… Depending on what time you travel, you can see both parks in one day. Easier if you stay in an onsite hotel like Hard Rock of Portofino. Then you get the express pass and you can skip the line at most attractions.

Make sure you get the 1 day 2 Park tickets if you want to see the Harry Potter World completely. It is spread into both parks and you Need to enter both parks to see it all…

Universal 1 day, 1 day in MKingdom. The other parks check on what attractions are open as they are building out fast. Volcano Bay is opening soon at Universal

It all depends on your likes/dislikes and preferences. I personally give 4 days to MK, 2 to Epcot, 1 each to HS, AK, TL and BB and only one to universal but I dedicate a whole 2 week holiday just to the parks, I know there’s much more to see in Orlando.

How Many Days Do You Need At Disney Springs

Disney Springs is Walt Disney World Resorts outdoor shopping, dining, and entertainment complex and is home to everything from a cinema and balloon flight to Cirque du Soleil, vintage amphicars and so much more.

But Disney Springs isnt a park and you dont need to treat it like one, and many guests choose to enjoy it across a few separate visits.

Disney Springs makes the perfect place to grab a bite to eat in the evening or to treat yourself to a few souvenirs or gifts in one of the many shops. Its also a great choice to go see a movie as a way to relax at the end of the day.

      Full Days And 9 Nights

If you really want to make the most of your experience at Disney World, an 8-day stay will give you ample time to explore each of the theme parks, water parks and more. Theres plenty to explore at Disneys theme parks but two of the parks are a bit larger than the rest and take a bit more time to explore than others. As such, you can take your time and explore these parks over two days and get a real feel for both without feeling overwhelmed or worn out.

Should you choose to go with these options, split the parks in half to avoid zigzagging through the parks.

      Planning Around Nighttime Show Schedules

How many days do you REALLY need at Disney World?

One of the most surprising things at Disneyland is how often fireworks are canceled.

In fact, they are canceled around 20% of the time in the summer due to wind and fire dangers that are posed by fireworks.

For this reason, you may want to plan on seeing fireworks every night of your trip. That way if the first night is canceled, youll have another chance.

Whats There To Do At Disney World

Lets look at some of what Disney has to offer:

      • Boat rides
      • Park tours
      • Resort activities like dinner shows and restaurants, horseback riding, bike riding, etc.
      • Pool relaxation time and activities for those staying in Disney resorts and villas.
      • etc.

Most people travelling by plane will want to see all the main parks. Many will want to include a visit to Disney Springs. Some will want to try the water parks. Those who have time will add in some of the above activities and more. Finally, many people like to see some of the other parks and attractions in the Orlando area.

Tip #1 Skip The Park Hopper

The Park Hopper add-on for your theme park admission is an unnecessary cost if you are spending at least 4 days at Walt Disney World. There is no need for park-hopping between two parks . Youll use your time more efficiently if you stay at one park per day.

If your visit is shorter than 4 days and you must visit two Disney parks in one day, I recommend combining a morning at Animal Kingdom and an afternoon at Hollywood Studios.

Other Things To Consider At Disney World

How Many Days Do You Need For Hollywood Studios?

You might also want to see or dine at some of the Disney World Resorts. We love visiting some of the deluxe resorts when close to Magic Kingdom such as the Grand Floridian and the Contemporary Resort. There are also lots of dining options to try across the resorts too, so this is something else to consider.

You might also want to consider a rest day too. A rest day is usually helpful if you have very young children in your family.

Disney World How Many Days Do You Need

The simple short answer when deciding how many days should you should spend at Disney is 7 days. A week is a pretty safe number when it comes to visiting Walt Disney World. This will give you plenty of time to explore all of the Walt Disney World theme parks, water parks and Disney Springs shopping area.

However, as we will discuss below in our opinion it will still be extremely difficult to see and do it all in seven days. But thats the beautiful thing about a Walt Disney World Vacation there is so much to see and do for everyone. You might not want or need to do it all. So keep reading to find out how to plan the best Disney trip possible.

      5-6 Park Days

You should plan on at least 5 park days, not including arrival and departure. Ideally, your trip will span 6 or 7 nights giving you ample time to explore the parks but also take advantage of the amenities at your resort and enjoy a relaxed, exploratory pace.

I love the afternoon nap! Whether or not you are a napper I love splitting up my day with a break at the hotel. While my husband naps I take a refreshing shower, charge my phone and myself.

Your first trip to Disney can be extremely overwhelming. It is important to have a plan, set priorities and not expect to do everything. The more time you have the easier it is to balance everything you want to see with the downtime you need from a vacation. It also allows you a little time to explore the other activities Disney has to offer.

Do You Want A Relaxation Day

Walt Disney World – How Many Days at Each Park?

The next question will be whether youd like a day or two off for relaxation. For my west coast clients, the time change can take its toll, especially on children. Having a day to adjust can make the rest of the trip a lot easier. Other families really enjoy a day or two off between park days. These days might just be pool and resort days, or they might be used for the water parks, visiting Disney Springs or any of the other fun activities that can be planned. Having this slower paced, laid back day here and there allows for a more relaxed vacation feel.

      A Week At Disney World

Great for anyone who has already been to Disney World.

A full week at Disney World allows you to enjoy all the parks pretty much but you might have to miss out on a few things unless you plan to hit the parks hard and really plan your days. 7 days allows you to have one full day at each park and then a further 3 days to focus on visiting your favorite parks and enjoying your favorite attractions too. Park hopping will probably be required to fully make the most of your 7 days at Disney World.

What Do You Do At Walt Disney World For 9

Well break this down by park too, but for the most part, it goes like this. By Day this is what your plan will generally look like. The park order can change depending on which day you start your Disney vacation.

    • Arrival day. Explore your Resort or Resort Hop for a Dinner Reservation. If youre getting in extra early you can always head to the parks. Which park should you go to on Arrival Day at Disney World? Magic Kingdom. No contest. There is nothing like getting your first dose of Disney at the Magic Kingdom. Cinderellas Castle, the cinnamon roll smells on Main Street, and Pirates of the Caribbean make this a great first day of vacation.
    • Magic Kingdom
    • Resort Day/ Pool Time and Disney Boardwalk
    • Departure Day. Every Disney Resort has checkout at 11 AM. That said, you can easily stash everything in your car or leave it at Bell Services while you explore the parks one last time, or head to Disney Springs for last-minute souvenir shopping.
    • At 12 days this schedule changes as follows. Day 9 is EPCOT , Day 10 is Resort Hopping, Day 11 is Hollywood Studios and Day 12 is Departure Day. Keep in mind that if you are attending any parties or special evening events you would naturally skip the park for that day- and only pay for your event ticket.

What Do You Do For 12 Days At Walt Disney World

At 12 days your Disney Vacation becomes a Vacation. You just simply have a little more time to make decisions, to do all the things youre excited about, and see more than just the basics at Walt Disney World. As Disney Season Passholders, we can tell you there is more to do than you will ever know. After years of visits, we still havent done it all. Give yourself the time to experience the entire Walt Disney World Resort.

At 12 days you can add another day for EPCOT and a second Hollywood Studios day that is only a half-day, with the other half of the day being on the Disney Boardwalk since its walking distance. You can also add a full lounge day at your resort, or head to a resort youre excited to see! We love having a day for Animal Kingdom Lodge or heading to a fancy breakfast at Topolinos Terrace at Disneys Riviera Resort. Or a nice dinner at Toledo at Coronado Springs. And we always try to fit in a boat ride to Fort Wilderness Campgrounds for some walking and exploring. With each Disney Park taking up at least one full day each, its in your best interest to cut yourself some slack and aim for 9-12 days.
