How Far Is Legoland From Disneyland
Thought I might due a one day trip to lego land, How far is it from Disney? Is it worth the trip for one day?
LEGOLAND is about 70 miles south of Anaheim, and the drive is just over an hour, but can be 90 minutes + in heavy traffic. One plus, most of the trip is using Carpool lanes.
LEGOLAND is a great place for kids, lots of interactive attractions.
We love it – especially for the ages your kids are. There are lots of fun rides and lots of hands on activities and play areas. It is really designed for the younger kids and is much quieter than other parks. I also am always really impressed with how clean the park is. Dpeending on when you are here, check Ralph’s grocery store, they were having a special of $10 of tickets I think.
Legoland Hotel Is On Property
Transportation to the Disney parks takes time. Whether you stay on property or you stay at an outside hotel. You are either on a bus and then walking for what feels like forever to get to the entrance, or you arrive in a car and have to take a tram and then the monorail or the ferry to the front, where again, you have to walk.
We stayed at the Legoland Hotel which is walking distance to the park. You walk out of the front doors and its literally a few minutes away from the front gate of Legoland. The convenience and time saved is everything when you travel with kids! Not having to board a bus or a ferry or a monorail and only having to walk across a parking lot, was amazing!

Overview Of Legoland Florida
LEGOLAND Florida is exactly what it sounds like, yet so much more! A place dedicated to everybody’s favorite brick, LEGOLAND Florida brings the world of LEGO to life like you could never imagine. You truly feel like you’re walking through lands of actual LEGO creations in a 150-acre interactive theme park full of unique attractions, experiences, dining, shopping and so much more.
The most important thing to note about LEGOLAND Florida is that it is designed for tadpoles up to age 12. What does this mean? Rides are geared toward the thrill level and interest of little ones, rather than adults. We wouldn’t recommend LEGOLAND for adults without kiddos unless you’re a huge LEGO fan.
LEGOLAND Florida is on the property of what used to be Cypress Gardens, and there is still an area dedicated to the former park. The botanical gardens are actually Mommy Frog’s favorite spot! Explore lush landscapes with huge trees, cool plants and a gorgeous gazebo for a quick getaway, or the perfect picnic location.
LEGOLAND Florida is divided into multiple lands inspired by different LEGO product lines and destinations: The Beginning, Fun Town, The LEGO Movie World, MINILAND USA, Duplo Valley, LEGO Kingdoms, Land of Adventure, LEGO City, Imagination Zone, LEGO Technic, LEGOLAND Water Park, Cypress Gardens, Heartlake City and LEGO Ninjago World.
What About Playing With Legos

Kids can check out Lego Mindstorms to start learning basic programming. There is also the Warner Bros. Game Zone with all the latest Lego video games, and then Water, Wheels, and Flight Zones for building sea creatures, things on wheels and things that fly. Kids could spend hours in here!
True Lego fans will not be disappointed with the theming at Legoland Florida. Everywhere you turn, you are amazed by another Lego masterpiece from R2D2 to Einstein made of Lego bricks. Dont just think of it as a theme park where it is all about the ridesthink of it as a playground for Lego fans.

Traveling By Train From Disneyland To Legoland
Consider taking the train from Anaheim to LEGOLAND. The drive along the sea is breathtaking, youll avoid traffic and the ride itself is an adventure for kids! Board the Metrolink at the Anaheim Station, about a mile from Disneyland. The one way trip will take a little over an hour due to stops along the way. Get off at the Oceanside Station and take a cab to LEGOLAND, which will cost around $20.
Food and drinks are allowed on the double decker train. Sit on the second level for the best views. Ticket prices vary per age. An adult one-way ticket costs $13. Three children ride free with a paid adult. Children age 6 and older are considered Youth and pay the same as an adult fare. Use the price finder to calculate your costs. Tips For Visiting Legoland Florida Water Park
The water park is located within the theme park but requires additional admission and separate tickets.
If youre planning to do BOTH the theme park and the water park AND plan to stay on property at LEGOLAND resort then I would plan for a 2-3 night stay in order to allow you to fully enjoy all of the experiences!
The water park has a lot to do and, like the theme park, has activities geared towards every age .
Be sure to bring along swim diapers for any younger ones who arent quite potty trained as well as deodorant for when you change back into your clothing!
Ive heard lots of people say they wear bathing suits under their clothes so its easy to change when transitioning from the theme park to water park but we had no issues using the changing areas at the water park entrance and were more comfortable wearing regular clothes rather than swimsuits during the theme park portion of our day.
Legoland Travel Guide Final Thoughts
I feel like LEGOLAND is the secret gem of theme parks in the Orlando area. We are avid Orlando visitors and had NEVER been before and ALL of our group LOVED it.
We had such a great time and plan to go back again in the future. If youre considering a theme park visit during your Florida travels, be sure to give LEGOLAND a shot! Its less intimating than many of the other theme park options and would be an excellent first theme park experience to help ease kids into the larger, more involved theme parks!
If youre visiting the west coast be sure to look into LEGOLAND California as well, including the new Sea Life LEGOLAND Aquarium! I hope these tips for visiting LEGOLAND Florida have helped you in your planning, help you save money and have encouraged you to check out LEGOLAND the next time youre planning a family vacation!

Use Points To Stay Near Legoland
If youre looking to use hotel points to stay near Legoland to keep costs down, there are a variety of options nearby including:
- Courtyard by Marriott Winter Haven: Category 3, from 17,500 Marriott points per night
- Holiday Inn Winter Haven: from 20,000 IHG Rewards Club points per night
- Hampton Inn Winter Haven: 30,000 Hilton Honors points per night
The Courtyard is the newest and closest off-site hotel option, less than a five-minute drive from the entrance to Legoland. Attractions At Legoland Florida
LEGO fans are loyal fans. Once you love LEGO, you love it for life. Even as a non-LEGO kid, I still really appreciate them as an adult and especially love the way LEGOS bond my kids together and provide a way for my husband to connect with them too!
From Star Wars scenes to a replica of real-life cities we all know and love there are incredible LEGO designs everywhere you look at LEGOLAND Florida.
You do not have to be hardcore about LEGOS or have seen any of the LEGO movies in order to appreciate the parks and attractions. Our family hasnt yet watched any of the films in the LEGO Movie franchise and we still even enjoyed the LEGO Movie World elements in the parks.
There are several shows and even a 4D movie you can enjoy. Fun music plays throughout the park, reminding you that Everything is Awesome! and there are tons of attractions for younger kids and older kids alike.
Truly, there is literally an attraction for everyone at LEGOLAND Florida. I was beyond impressed with the amount of rides but also the layout of the park. Its done in a way where there isnt a TON of walking and each area has multiple attractions with a variety of height allowances to make sure everyone in your party has SOMETHING they can enjoy!
Tips For Visiting Legoland Florida Theme Park
When the park first opens, after you scan your tickets, you will be directed to signage with various height markers. This is a really genius idea on LEGOLANDs part! You can go ahead and get your child measured and handed a specific wrist band that alerts the employees at the rides of their height.
You will also see a list of the rides and attractions listed under each height marker that will allow you to know upfront which rides your child can and cannot ride before you enter the park and open them up to potential disappointment if they were to try to ride something they wont be allowed to ride.
Also be sure to alert the employees at the gate of any celebrations. Everyone in our party was given a really cute first visit button. The cool thing about the button too is that it is NOT a pin! Doesnt go through the fabric or mess up any clothes or cause any pricks. It is a really unique design that sort of snaps to their top and truly stays put too!
LEGOLAND is a park you can do in one day and are able to fit in the majority of the attractions, even with our visit being shortened hours we still got everything done and didnt feel rushed!
We saved our shopping for the end of the day. The largest gift shop is located at the park exit and stays open an hour or so later than the theme park. They have TONS of great gift ideas as well as really cute merchandise.

Disneyland Vs Legoland: Choosing The Right Park For You
LEGOLAND: Tickets for one day in LEGOLAND California, not including admission to the water park and SEA LIFE Aquarium, start around $96 for adults and about $90 for kids. For admittance to all three, one-day tickets start at around $122 for adults and approximately $116 for kids.
Disneyland: Youll want at least two days here, and rates for a two-day ticket start at $225 for adults , and $210 for kids ages three through nine . However, consider upgrading to the Park Hopper ticket, which allows you to go from Disneyland to adjacent Disney California Adventure. Two-day Park Hopper tickets start at $280 for adults , and $265 for kids ages three through nine.
What You Get:
LEGOLAND: The park has 12 different areas, including two water parks along with the aquarium.
Disneyland: You get two parks in one at Disneyland. The original park has all the classic rides: Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, and It’s a Small World. California Adventure has new favorites like Incredicoaster and Soarin Over California.
Disneyland: There are quite a few rides aimed at young ones, but theres a reason adults without kids plan their vacations around a trip to the Happiest Place on Earth. Rides like Space Mountain and Indiana Jones Adventure can get pretty intense.
