Fishing At Walt Disney World

Fishing At Walt Disney World With Preschoolers

Fishing & Boating at Walt Disney World Resort With the Lorenzana Family

Theres more to Disney World than theme parks. For example, did you know that you and your family can go on a guided bass fishing excursion through Disney? I wasnt aware of this program until recently, when my family was invited to go fishing during our recent visit to Disney World. While Disney hosted my family for the fishing excursion, all opinions are my own. Fishing at Walt Disney World with preschoolers is a wonderful experience, and its one that I highly recommend for families of all ages.

How Fishing Helps The Outdoors

The Take Me Fishing initiative was started by the Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation , a non-profit organization whose mission is to increase participation in recreational angling and boating.

In a way, fishing is the outdoors sport that gives back. Did you know that licensing and tax on fishing gear goes towards funding conservation projects, fish stocking, improving docks and recreation areas, and improving water ways? As an outdoors lover, the fact that this has a direct, positive effect on protecting and restoring our aquatic resources is highly appealing to me.

I grew up in South Dakota, occasionally fishing the Missouri River with my dad.

Fast forward a few decades, and I have not really fished as an adult. However, seeing how thrilled my kids were to be out on that water, and the excitement when one of us caught a fish has re-ignited my interest in this awesome family outdoors activity!

The Main Street Mouse

We are all well aware of all the fun things that you can do inside the parks at Walt Disney World, but did you know about all the exciting things you can do at the resorts? Recently my family stayed at Fort Wilderness Resort and Campgrounds and participated in some new and fun activities that we never thought about doing at Walt Disney World, so I wanted to share one of them with you.

Did you know you could go fishing at Walt Disney World? We did cane fishing at Port Orleans a few years back and this past week we discovered fishing at Fort Wilderness. At Fort Wilderness you can bring your own fishing gear or if you are newbies like my family, they rent it to you and the prices are not bad at all. You can rent it by the half hour for $10 or the whole day for $16. The first day we tried it we opted for the half hour because we werent sure if the kids would like it, but guess what, they loved it, so the next day we opted to rent it for the whole day. They also provided worms or nightcrawlers for a small fee and for us those worms lasted two days. Whatever we didnt use the first day they stored in their refrigerator for us to use the next day at no additional fee.

Is It Worth It

A lot of people have experienced Disney World over and over. Our family has certainly done every single ride, many, many times. While we honestly never get tired of that, we also love experiencing new things! Its amazing to me that there was something I had barely even heard of for our family to experience together.

And if youre concerned about social distancing, this is a great way to have some peace and quiet, as well as distance, out on the water. Our guide was wearing a face covering, and there was plenty of space to distance on the boat. And with such small groups, it will be just your party on the boat anyways!

Book your trip and add something new to your Disney memories!

Thank you to Disney World and TakeMeFishing.org for inviting out family to experience fishing at Disney World.

Saltwater Fishing Charters Near Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World is the number one tourist attraction in Florida. Over 20 million people visit the Magic Kingdom every year. When planning a Disney World vacation, many visitors like to spend a day away from the theme parks and get out into nature. The Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge and Mosquito Lagoon offer the perfect place to experience some great fishing as well as having close encouters with a variety of wildlife. In spite of the scary sounding name, the Mosquito Lagoon is free from the biting insects during the daylight hours when we are fishing. For the anglers, the Lagoon system offers year round fishing for redfish , spotted seatrout, and black drum. Seasonal cacthes may include tarpon, jack crevalle, ladyfish, and snook. Because of the shallow protected waters, we can fish even when the weather is not optimal. There is no chance of getting seasick. Fishing charters are tailored to suit the clients skills, experience, and requests. From sight fishing with light tackle or fly gear for redfish to mixed bag fishing with shrimp or other live bait, there is something for everyone.

West Lake Toho, The Kissimmee Chain of Lakes, The Butler Chain of Lakes, and all of the other lakes I take my customers to are conveniently located within 15 miles of Disney World, Sea World, Universal Studios, and other Orlando / Kissimmee area theme parks. I offer FREE transportation to and from most Orlando / Kissimmee area hotels and resorts. This means, I will personally pick you up at your resort the morning of the trip, and bring you back when we’re done.

Disney World, here in Orlando, Florida, also offers Bass fishing Charters. However, their services are quite different from what I offer. While they do offer the use of Bass boats, many of their guided Bass fishing trips are done from pontoon boats. At Chuck’s Guide Service, thanks to my sponsors at Ranger Boats, Evinrude Outboards, and Toho Marine & Outdoors, you’re guaranteed to be fishing out of a model year Ranger Z520C powered by an Evinrude 250 G2. Feel free to take a look at my bass boat.

Disney World’s private lakes, from what I hear, are full of Bass. Recent reports, though, are just that. There are a lot of Largemouth Bass being caught at their lakes, but not many trophies . This is due, in part, to mismanagement of their catch and release policies and over stocking. Though, I cannot guarantee a trophy Bass, you will always have a chance of catching that once in a lifetime trophy while fishing a lake I take you to. You can see many of these trophy Bass on my , , or .

Interesting Fishing Fact: From June August 1956 in Disneyland, guests could fish from Huck Finns pier on Tom Sawyers Island. You would then bring the fish to Riverbelle Terrace to be cleaned and stored while you spent the day in the park! This was promptly ended when the latter part of the process didnt catch on and it created a fishy situation. Fishing can now only be found at Walt Disney World in Florida.

Walt Disney World has partnered with B.A.S.S. to provide guided fishing excursions and dock-side fishing in the various waterways around the property. All fishing excursions are catch and release only.
