Can Toddlers Go To Disney World
Yes, toddlers and babies CAN go to Disney World and they SHOULD! Disney is suitable for a 3 year old and a 103 year old!
Remember, Disney World grows with your child. Every age and stage is different. To see the magical experience your little ones enjoy and the joy in your toddler’s eyes when his or her favorite character or princess gives them a hug can’t be overstated. It is a wonderful and very special experience for all ages, but especially toddlers!
Know That Transportation Is Not Your Friend When You Have A Toddler
I hate to be the one to tell you this- because this is something that most people dont talk about because they dont have a crying 2 yr old in their lap.
But here it is- Transportation takes forever
I know, I know- but the buses can take 30 minutes, the boats too. Going to the Ticket and Transportation center if you drive is a total royal pain.
Even the skyliner can get backed up!
I knew someone who was planning to use the skyliner and it started to lightning so they directed her to the bus with her baby under a year, then it started raining while they were waiting for a bus, and all in all it took 2 hours to get back to the resort because of the weather and the buses!
Please give yourself some wiggle room if you use Disney World transportation.

If its Pocahontas youre looking for, youll find her at Animal Kingdom. This is another tricky location. Shes technically located on Discovery Island trails. Follow signs to Dinoland. Before you enter the bridge to Dinoland there is a trail on the right that leads up to her. This meet and greet is outside so try to plan it for early in the morning or later in the day when the heat isnt as bad.

Walt Disneys Carousel Of Progress
Location TomorrowlandHeight Requirement Any Height
The Carousel of Progress is one of our favorite all-time Disney World rides and its no problem to bring toddlers. This ride/show takes a look at an American family at the turn of the century, and follows them into our day.
There isnt much for kids to be interested in and they will probably end up sleeping during it. At least thats 21 minutes when you get a break. We recommend it as it gives everyone a chance to re-charge and cool down from the heat.

Show Them That Wearing A Mask Is Normal And Even Fun
Ok, so wearing a mask isnt normal and it would be a stretch for most of us to call it fun. But you know the same way you might put a big smile on and eat those brussels sprouts in front of your kiddo so they realize its not a bad thing, and they can do it, too? Same thing here. Weve touched on this already with letting them pick their mask design and having them practice at home, but we figured it deserved its own point too.
Cast Member with required face mask
If you think it will work, try enlisting an older sibling to help with encouraging the younger one to wear a mask. Or, go about it in a cute and fun way! Consider getting them a new Mickey plush to bring on the trip and buy orsew a little mask for their new Mickey! This can help normalize the idea of masks and make them less scary.
Take Advantage Of Fastpass+ Ahead Of Time
With the purchase of any Disney World ticket, you get the perk of FastPass+. FastPass+ allows you to select up to 3 fast passes for each day of your visit and you can do it 30 DAYS IN ADVANCE!! . If youre not sure what a FastPass is, it means you get a spot in a one hour window for a ride or attraction of your choice. You arrive at the ride during that time window and get to join a MUCH shorter line, cutting your wait time by a TON. It is SO SO worth it with impatient little ones.
The best way to take full advantage of this is to grab your FastPass+ picks as soon as possible once you enter into that 30 day or 60 day window.

Make Your Stay More Magical
Here are tips to make sure your trip is as magical as can be for your little ones:
Rent a Stroller Even if your kids are past the stroller age, plan to rent a stroller near the Main Entrances to the Disney theme parks. When your little ones eventually hit the snooze button, you can stroll around and enjoy a leisurely lunch while the kids stroller-nap.
Visit the Baby Care Center Need sunscreen, diapers or other family essentials? Visit a Baby Care Center! Its the perfect stop for those with infants, toddlers and preschoolers in need of a place to rest, relax or snack in our 4 theme parkseach one with a private room for nursing mothers and a waiting room for the rest of the family.

Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park
Our water parks have something that makes them unlike anything else on earth: they’re drenched in Disney magic! Here, even the water itself is something special.
When you visit Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park, you’re not simply riding and sliding, you’re immersed in a fantastic story in a far-off place that transforms you from a brave thrill seeker to a relaxed chill seekerand everything in between. Because here at Disney water parks, there’s magic in every drop.
Creating a ski resort after a rare Florida blizzard is one thing. But after it melted in the warm sunshine, the slopes became slushy, the moguls became magical and Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park was born.
It’s all here at Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park, the polar opposite of other water parks!
Handling Snacks And Drinks
Not only is Disney food pricey, but waiting in a long line with a hungry 2-year-old is unnecessarily stressful. Stash snacks in your day bag so she can steadily munch throughout the day. Disney World and Disneyland both allows guests to bring in outside food as long as it doesn’t need to be heated and isn’t in glass containers. Bring cheese sticks, squeezable yogurt and baby food pouches, dried fruit and small bags of cereal and crackers as well as a water bottle and your child’s favorite cup. A toddler who’s familiar with Disney characters might love visiting with them while she eats. Many park restaurants offer character dining contact guest services for help choosing an experience and making a reservation.

You Can Ride Attractions You Want To Ride Too
Walt Disney World also offers the Rider Switch option, and I highly recommend taking advantage of it once or twice if visiting Disney World with toddlers.
For rides that have height restrictions that you may want to enjoy but are not appropriate for a toddler, like Space Mountain in Magic Kingdom, Tower of Terror in Hollywood Studios, or Expedition Everest in Animal Kingdom, you can take advantage of Rider Switch.
As long as you have another adult in your party on your trip to Disney, that adult stays with the non-rider while the other enjoys the attraction. Then, when the first adult returns, you switch spots and the returning adult stays with the toddler or baby while the other one can enjoy the attraction without having to wait in the original line.
Rider Switch is a great way for one adult to keep the kids busy while the other adult enjoys the attraction, and then switch.
Our Animal Kingdom Tips + Faves
We only got to spend one evening at Animal Kingdom so I wish I had more tips or suggestions than I do for this one but here were our faves, or ones we missed but wished we didnt!
- Pandora: This land was SO cool and Im saying that after never even seeing Avatar! Arlo loved the Navi River Journey ride because of all the beautiful lights and colors. While this is not a toddler-friendly ride, Jeff said Avatar Flight of Passage was the coolest ride hed ever been on. He literally CRIED!
- Kilimanjaro Safaris: A favorite of both Jeff and mine from our childhood, and a total hit if your toddler loves animals!
- Triceratop Spin: A dino version of Dumbo, one of Arlos favorite rides!
- Festival of the Lion King: Only 30 minutes so great for little ones, filled with lots of color, dancing and of course, Lion King tunes!!!
- Finding Nemo The Musical: Arlo would have FLIPPED for this. We got to the park too late to see it, but there are showtimes throughout the day!

What Part Of Disney World Is Best For Toddlers
When I am asked which Disney parks are best for toddlers, the answer would be all of them. But at Walt Disney World, I would recommend Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom for toddlers.
Truth be told, Epcot is a great place for stroller walking because the walking areas are wider and kids can nap while parents enjoy parts of the World Showcase. We have enjoyed quite a few quiet walks around Epcot. And there are definitely rides for toddlers in Epcot.
But for characters, parades, and most rides, Magic Kingdom will offer the most activities for a two year old. This would be closely followed by Animal Kingdom for the animals, which toddlers love, and several rides that would be suitable for toddlers. There is also a petting zoo in Animal Kingdom at Rafiki’s Planet Watch.
Do Your Research & Get Toddlers Prepared For The Trip
As noted, toddlers can be unpredictable. That being said, there is quite a bit you can do pre-trip to get them ready for Disney.
- Brush up on which Disney rides your toddler will be tall enough for on your vacation. This list of Magic Kingdom rides that do not have a height requirement will be safe for everyone!
- Watch YouTube videos of the rides you think toddlers will want to go on. Young children will be less stressed out or worried if they have an idea what to expect ahead of time.
- Read Disney-themed books and watch age appropriate Disney films or Disney Junior programs to get toddlers familiar with some of the characters. I have this post with Disney themed book suggestions for toddlers.
- Create a countdown calendar that will count down the days until your vacation.
- Choose some Disney outfits for kids that feature their favorite characters .
Toddler Tip #1: Find out from your toddler what their top three must-do things are for the trip. Is it waving hi to a certain princess or eating a churro? Put those things at the top of your vacation list and make sure they happen!
