Disney World Wheelchair Front Of Line

Ecv Rules For Disney World Rides & Attractions

GAC Pass at Walt Disney World – Front of the Line Pass?

Guests can usually stay in their ECVs for theater type shows, and in most attraction queues. For some ride queues, Disney requires guests using ECVs to transfer into a manual wheelchair before entering the queue. The cast members at the attraction will provide you with a manual wheelchair free of charge at or near the entrance. Remember that the cast members are not permitted to push you through the queue even if youve transferred to a manual wheelchair.

ECVs are not permitted on the majority of ride cars. If a ride permits the use of manual wheelchairs on the ride cars, youll have the option to transfer into a manual wheelchair provided free of charge by a cast member at the attraction. On some rides youll be required to transfer from your ECV or manual wheelchair to a ride seat. Well let you know the requirements of each attraction in the Rides and Attractions section of this website.

How Do I Get My Wheelchair Or Ecv After The Ride

When youve transferred directly from your chair into a ride car: The Disney cast members will then move the chair nearby, or to the disembarking area if its different from the loading area. If youre unable to step off the ride car and walk to your chair or you cant stand and wait for someone to get it for you after disembarking from the ride car, tell the cast member when boarding the ride. Tell them also if you need a moving walkway to be slowed or stopped . Theyll bring your wheelchair or ECV right to you so that you can transfer from the ride car into your chair .

If you parked your wheelchair or ECV and walked: When the ride is done, your seat will be where you left it if thats where the ride lets off, or it will have been moved to the disembarking area if its different from the loading area.

Even if youll be disembarking in the same area you started from, you may find that your chair has been moved. Sometimes the cast members move your chair to make room for other chairs to park. It should be in the same general area it was originally placed.

What Is Das Advance & Advance Selections

Guests that pre-register get the added bonus of being able to pre-select up to 2 attractions to visit for each day of their trip.

Heres how it works:

  • When you pre-select an attraction, youll be provided a 1-hour return window to ride that attraction.
  • When your return time opens up, youll proceed to the attraction and the person with the DAS will scan their ticket or MagicBand first.
  • These selections are valid only on the date and time period chosen. They will expire if not used.

These pre-selected attractions are in addition to the same day attractions they can select.

Important note: Guests who do not pre-register for DAS will not be eligible to receive the DAS Advance selections. In addition, only guests that were included in the Pre-Selection attractions will be allowed to join the DAS recipient. You cant add somebody later to those attractions, so make sure your guest list is complete when making your DAS Advance Selections.

Returning guest?

If you are a returning guest that with a valid DAS , you can make your Advanced Selection by chatting with a Cast Member.

Disney Springs Area Watercraft

Disney Cruise Line Motorcoach Wheelchair Lift

The third watercraft route covers the area around Disney Springs the lake resorts of Saratoga Springs and Old Key West and Port Orleans French Quarter and Port Orleans Riverside Resort on the Sassagoula River. These launches are split into two routes.

One route runs between Port Orleans French Quarter and Riverside to the dock at Disney Springs Marketplace. The second route runs between Old Key West Resort and the dock at Disney Springs Marketplace. A third route runs between the Marketplace launch and the West Side launch.

The launches on all of these routes are open air pontoon boats with canopies. All these pontoon boats can accommodate up to two wheelchairs or ECVs. There are portable transition ramps to allow you to board on and off the boat. The travel time for any of these routes is 15 to 20 minutes in each direction.

Pro Tip: There are also paths to allow you to reach Disney Springs from the Saratoga Springs main resort. One goes around the east end of the lake near the Marketplace bus depot. The other goes from the through the golf course and enters Disney Springs at West Side. Old Key West also has a path that goes through the golf course to Disney Springs West Side.

Walt Disney World Attraction Accessibility

Methods of accessibility vary from attraction to attraction within the parks. The Guidebook for Guests with Disabilities, park guide maps, and the Guest Services filter on My Disney Experience app use symbols to indicate boarding procedures for each attraction. In addition, you can talk to cast members at attraction entrances for help with accessing the attractions.

Certain attractions require you to transfer from wheelchairs to ride a system either by yourself or with the assistance of a member of your party. Disney World cast members are not permitted to physically assist guests in transferring from their wheelchairs.

Auxiliary Entrance Limitations: Some attractions have auxiliary entrances for those with disabilities. These are intended to offer guests in wheelchairs or with service animals a more convenient or safer entrance to the attraction. Auxiliary entrances are not intended to bypass waiting lines. Guests with disabilities and up to five members of their party may use these entrances. The rest of the party should use the main entrance.

Parade Route and Show Areas: Some Parade routes or show areas have designated viewing areas for Guests with disabilities. These areas are filled on a first come, first served basis. Due to guest demand, viewing spaces cannot be reserved or guaranteed. Parties larger than six will be asked to separate and reunite after the show. Guest Relations can provide information on show times and other special events on the day of each visit.

What Documentation Is Needed For Das

The person requesting DAS needs to be present and you must have your tickets or your Magic Bands to complete the process. Allow about 10 to 15 minutes to complete the process. Guest Relations cast members are well versed and will walk you through the DAS process.

You do not need to have a doctors note or even reveal the details about you or the individual’s disabilities. You do need to describe the accommodations needed to fully enjoy the park. The more details you provide about your needs, the better DAS will work for you. This is a custom program that will be tailored to meet your specific situation. Your stated needs can range from the need for a quiet area to wait in lieu of standing in line, a pass to bring a stroller right to the loading area of a ride or other specific needs your family may have.

Tips For Using A Wheelchair At Disneyland

Overall, our friend had an amazing day using a wheelchair at Disneyland. I mean, she had us frogs there to hop along to help her maximize her time, guide her toward gentle rides she could enjoy and set the perfect pace to her day. On top of that, everyone at Disneyland was helpful and kind. They never rushed her and encouraged her to take her time getting in and out of rides. Her safety and dignity were of the utmost importance to the cast members. That made a huge difference in the whole experience and made for special memories for everyone.

She used MaxPass along with DAS to accomplish everything she wanted to do. She scheduled shows and indoor meals during the heat of the day to keep cool, and we all took advantage of the USB ports on the ECV to keep our phones fully juiced! We frogs got to experience things weve never seen when rolling with her , and we got to experience the stretching chamber in reverse! It was hoppin fun for all!

How The Das Card Works

Lets use the Jungle Cruise at WDW as an example of how this works. Because I am confined to a wheelchair, my wife and I can walk up to the attractions disability entrance at any point during the day and request a return time. Based on the current wait time for the attraction, the Disney cast member will give us a paper slip with a designated time. We can return to the disability entrance at that time, or any time thereafter, and get right on the ride.

A guest with a DAS card can do the same thing. The card tells cast members that the guest to whom the card is issued is unable to stand in the queue line and needs a return time. The guest and his or her family can get return times for nearly every attraction in the park, but only one return pass can be held at any given time. That means the party must use its current return pass before they can be issued another one.

Please note that arrangements are different for Florida and California guests. Guests at Floridas Walt Disney World go straight to the attractions to get return times. Guests at Californias Disney Land must visit Guest Services kiosks throughout the park to get return times.

Is Magic Kingdom Good For A 2 Year Old

Magic Kingdom is a good park for all ages. This definitely isn’t true of every Disney park. While this post focuses mostly on rides, the shows and character greetings also make the park ideal for kids of all ages. If they’re old enough that the question is worth asking, they can have a great time at Magic Kingdom.

Disney World Resort Arrivals By Minnie Vans

Note: Minnie Van service has not returned to Walt Disney World Resort since the 2020 closure and reopening.

Starting in 2019, guests arriving to Orlando International Airport can request transport to their Walt Disney World Resorts by Minnie Van. These passenger vehicles are driven by cast members, but the service is administered by Lyft. Transport from MCO to your Resort is $155 each way and can be booked up to six months in advance.

If you require a handicapped accessible Minnie Van, which can accommodate up to four passengers, you will call a dedicated number instead of using the Lyft app. Call 407-828-3500 starting at six months out to be sure an accessible van is reserved for you.

How Does Das Work With Disney Genie

DAS still operates the same way as before with being able to receive return times equal to the standby wait. You do not need to purchase Genie+ or individual selections to utilize DAS. Any ride with a standby wait time is eligible for DAS return times. With attractions using virtual queues, all members must have joined the virtual queue first. Once your boarding group is called, cast members will direct you on using DAS.

Note that nearly all attractions are available for advance selections except for those attractions using the individual Lightning Lane. Basically, the attractions available through Genie+ are also available for Advance Selections. The remaining two attractions per park still use DAS, but for day-of selection only. Here are the rides that are only available to book the day of your visit and are not available ahead of time:

    • Magic Kingdom: Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Space Mountain
    • EPCOT: Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Frozen Ever After
    • Hollywood Studios:Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway
    • Animal Kingdom: Avatar Flight of Passage, Expedition Everest

All attractions still offer return times with DAS. Unlike Disney Genie+, which currently only allows a ride to be selected once per day, there is no limit to return times for the same attraction.

Use A Crowd Calendar To Plan Your Park Days

Disney changes line policy for disabled guests

No matter what time of year you visit, there will be crowds at Disney World.

It is the worlds #1 vacation destination, so there are always thousands of people at the theme parks. The key to having the best possible vacation experience is toavoid these crowds as much as possible!

Luckily, some wise folks have figured out crowd patterns for you. I regularly use a free crowd calendar that shows recommended parks to visit and parks to avoid for each day of the year, such as this one published by Undercover Tourist.

My goal on every trip is to visit only recommended parks each day. This is particularly important at Magic Kingdom, the smallest and most popular park.

For example, Magic Kingdom is particularly crowded on Mondays and Saturdays. These are the most common days of the week for folks to start their vacations, and most folks want to visit the Magic Kingdom first. So I try to always avoid MK on these days of the week!

Here is an example of how powerful the crowd calendars are. Against my better judgment, we went to Disney World over Christmas about five years ago to celebrate my birthday . Christmas is likely the busiest day of the whole year at Disney World.

Using the crowd calendar as our guide, we visited the recommended park, Animal Kingdom, on Christmas Day and were shocked to discover a practically empty park! We rode all the attractions with little wait and roamed freely around the park on the busiest day of the year.
