Is Disney Going Back To Normal In 2022
It depends what people mean by normal when they ask this question. Some things will never be the way they were and thats often because they were improved for a better. But usually when people ask about things being normal there are a few things theyre wondering about. Obviously I dont have any insider information or a crystal ball, but I can present the information thats been given to the public and some of my own personal speculation.
Masks and social distancing. I think a lot of this will be gone by 2022. My prediction? Social distancing will be eliminated before masks. The distancing is a bigger factor affecting what Disney can and cannot offer so theyll want to try and get rid of it. Masks will probably be optional for some time. But the hope is by 2022 neither of these things are required. Disney has already loosened the mask policy by allowing them to be removed for outdoor photos. I base these guesses off of a quote from Disney CEO Bob Chapek, who said in an earnings call in February 2022 that do we also believe that we will be in the same state of six-foot social distancing and mask wearing in 22? Absolutely not.
Do we also believe that we will be in the same state of six-foot social distancing and mask wearing in 22? Absolutely not.

What Are The Deposit/cancellation Rules For Reservations
Depending on the type of reservation that you make, the rules for deposits, changes, and cancellation are a little bit different. Here is what you can expect:
Room Only Reservation
When you book your room reservation you are required to make a deposit payment equal to one night’s room rate with the balance due at check in.
You have up to 6 days before your trip to make changes or to cancel your reservation. There are no penalties if you do this before this time. Your deposit will be refunded in full if you cancel.
When you book a package reservation the deposit for this type of reservation is $200 with the balance due 30 days prior to your trip.
You have up to 30 days before your trip to cancel or make any changes without penalty.
If you decide to cancel or make changes between 2 and 29 days before your trip, you will be charged a $200 change fee. If you cancel on the day before your trip, you will lose your entire vacation payment. Obviously, if at the last minute you cannot make your trip, your best bet is to pay the $200 fee and push the vacation out.
Book With Confidence Flexible Cancellation Policy At Walt Disney World Set To End Next Week
As a result of COVID-19 related travel issues, Walt Disney World Resort adopted a Book with Confidence flexible cancellation policy that began last year. As of May 1st, 2021, that policy is ending.
Under this flexible policy, guests could Book with Confidence knowing that they would not be penalized for needing to change or cancel their resort stays.
For guest stays booked on or after May 1st, 2021, the Book with Confidence policy ends and the standard Walt Disney World® Resort Cancellation Policy will return. That policy is listed below:

During the closures, Disney was automatically canceling and refunding all hotel reservations. Now that the parks are set to reopen in July, these automatic cancellations may no longer be happening, and guests could need to selectively cancel their reservations.

Disney World Vacation Package Rules
1. Payment and Booking for Disney World Vacation Packages
When you book a package, youll have to put a deposit of $200 down within 3 days of booking, or immediately if youre booking on Disneys website.
You must pay the remainder 30 days or more before your arrival. If youre booking your package within that 30 days of your arrival, youll have to pay the entire amount when you book it.

Any vacation package that is at least 31 days or more before your check in date can be modified with no penalty or fee from Disney. However there may be fees by third party hotels and suppliers. Disney will give you your money back, minus their fees, travel insurance premiums, and any other amounts owed.
For changes made 30 days or less before your arrival date, there may be a $50 fee per package if your modification results in a change in your package price. If your new package price is higher, youll be responsible for that charge as well.
Changes made 30 days or less before your arrival date may also cause change fees assessed by third party vendors such as hotels or other suppliers.
For changes made 30 days or less to your flights, youll be responsible for any increase jn airfare your new flights require, and any penalties the airline charges for changing your flight.
Please keep in mind that some airlines, hotels and suppliers do not permit changes in certain situations. Check with Disney for specifics.

Change Fees And Changes To Reservations Made Prior To Guest Arrival
- Changes to Reservation Changes to reservation, including but not limited to travel dates, length of stay or hotel accommodations, are subject to availability at the time the change is made. Guest is responsible for paying any increase in price resulting from the change. In addition, changes made 30 days or less prior to Guest arrival are also subject to a change fee of $50.00 per package plus any change fees assessed by third party hotels or other suppliers. If air transportation has been ticketed, Guest will be responsible for any increase in airfare as well as the change fee assessed by the airline.
- If changes are made to the package including, but not limited to, changes to travel dates, package is subject to the Terms and Conditions applicable to packages at the time the change to the reservation is made and, in the case of changes to travel dates, pricing applicable to the new travel dates.
- Land portions of the reservation cannot be canceled without also canceling the air portion of the reservation booked through Disney. Airlines/hotels/suppliers do not permit changes in certain situations. All existing travel documents must be returned to Disney via overnight delivery service and revised travel documents will be delivered to Guest via express service, both at Guests expense.
- Disney reserves the right to restrict changes to any reservation.
Canceling Disney Dining Reservations
The easiest way to do this is through My Disney Experience. Each dining reservation listed under your plans has a link next to it to cancel the reservation. Simply follow the prompts and the dining reservation is cancelled.
While Disney discouraged calling them directly regarding dining reservations, you can still cancel that way. Especially if you plan to call to cancel your trip anyway, the Cast Member can take care of cancelling all of your dining reservations.

Book Directly With Disney
Pros: Generally the most flexible with regard to changes, the largest selection of room categories and resorts, has the option to book both Room-Only and Vacation PackagesCons: Discounts arent always automatically added and sometimes the same room can be booked by another method at a lower price
One of the most common ways to book a Disney World trip is by booking it directly with Disney.
In general, booking directly with Disney will give you the most flexibility and security, however, it may not be the cheapest.
Disney often has discounts available, but if youre booking directly with them, they arent automatically applied.
Instead, youll need to confirm that the correct Special Offer button is toggled ON and that youre logged in so that you can see all available discounts:
Also, if multiple discounts are available dont forget to try them to ensure youre getting the best deal for your trip.
What about after youve already booked?
If a discount comes out after youve booked, you may still be able to apply it. However, this isnt automatic either.
Instead, youll need to modify your existing reservation to add the new discount .
This isnt difficult to do but applying discounts can be extremely time sensitive since there are often limited numbers of rooms eligible to be discounted.
Make sure you review our post on How to Apply A Discount for step-by-step instructions on how it works.
How Do I Cancel My Hotel On My Disney Experience
You can modify your reservation by going to My Reservations, which will bring up a link to Modify Reservation.. Please call 934-7639 if you cannot update or modify your reservation online. The call must be made by a parent or guardian if the guest is under 18 years old. There may be a change fee involved.

How Do I Reschedule My Disney World Tickets
You can change the date on your theme park tickets prior to arrival by going to the My Tickets tab in the mobile app. Select Change Tickets and follow the on-screen directions. You will be shown options to change the ticket type, dates, and number of days. If there is a price difference between your previous selection and new one, youll be prompted to pay the difference at check out.
What Other Cancelations Should You Be Aware Of
Once your hotel reservations are squared away, you will want to make sure you cancel any other Disney World reservations that would be associated with a no-show fee. This includes Advance Dining Reservations, which ask for a Credit Card guarantee upon booking. In those situations, guests will be charged $10 per guest for a no-show or for cancelations made within 1 day prior to the reservation.
If you made any additional special non-dining reservations, then you should cancel those as well at the time you cancel your vacation. This includes Savis Workshop in Star Wars: Galaxys Edge, which charges the full product price if you are a no-show .

Other Hotels And Dvc Rentals
Each hotel has its own cancellation policy, but all seem to be fairly understanding during the previous hurricanes. DVC rental agencies are a different story. They do not have hurricane policies. Some offer in house insurance, but most recommend getting outside insurance anytime you decide to use DVC rental agencies.
Deposit And Payment Procedures
- For reservations made 31 days or more prior to guest arrival, a deposit of $200 per reservation will be due and must be received by Walt Disney Travel Co., Inc. within 3 days of booking the reservation or the reservation will automatically be cancelled.
