Disney Vacation Club Points
DVC members are also affected by the closures to the Disney parks and hotels. Almost all Disney Vacation Club properties have been closed since March 24, 2020, including:
- Disneys Vero Beach
- Aulani, A Disney Resort and Spa
- Disneys Hilton Head Island Resort
- All DVC properties in Walt Disney World and Disneyland
Disney is in close contact with the authorities in these locations and monitoring the situation.
What about your DVC Points?
If you are booked at a Disney Vacation Club Resort in Walt Disney World or a Disney Beach Resort during the closure period, you can get your DVC points back.
Guests are given the option to modify or cancel their Disney Vacation Club Resort reservation.
If no action is taken and the reservation falls during the closure period, the DVC points will be automatically credited back into their account within 7 days of their original arrival date.
Disney also recently shared this statement:
As we have shared, Disney Vacation Club has lifted the close-in reservation cancellation restrictions and will return any of your points back as vacation points or reservation points without placing them into holding.
In the meantime, all points banking rules remain in place. While we understand the banking policy might create some frustration, please realize that this is in place to ensure that the membership as a whole avoids future inventory constraints.

Latest Disney World Closure News
Weve been closely monitoring the situation and the Disney parks ever since they were forced to close, and its something that changes on a daily basis. This is one of the fastest moving situations weve ever seen face the Disney theme parks and therefore requires close attention.
In a move unlike anything that has ever happened in the history of Disney theme parks, Walt Disney World and all the Disney Parks and Resorts worldwide are now closed over this outbreak. Here are the latest updates on how everything is progressing.
Deposit And Payment Procedures
- For reservations made 31 days or more prior to guest arrival, a deposit of $200 per reservation will be due and must be received by Walt Disney Travel Co., Inc. within 3 days of booking the reservation or the reservation will automatically be cancelled. The total price of travel protection plan is also due at the time the plan is requested. For reservations that include air transportation, the total price of airline tickets may be due at the time of booking. For reservations that include runDisney race registrations, the cost of such race registrations is due at the time of booking and is non-refundable.

Disney Dining Reservation Cancellation Policy
The Disney dining reservation cancellation policy is much more forgiving than any of the other Disney World cancellation policy. Essentially, this is to allow people on their vacation to make last minute changes to their plans if necessary.
Remember when you made your Disney dining reservation and they asked for credit card information? This is where that comes into play. If you dont cancel your reservation within the allotted time frame, your credit card on file is automatically charged a no show fee of $10.
Mot dining reservations must be cancelled by 11:59pm the day before the reservation in order to avoid the Disney dining reservation cancellation fee. Always double check to see if your restaurant has a slightly different time frame for cancellation.
There are a few dining reservations that require payment in full up front. Cinderellas Royal Table, Hoop Dee Doo Revue, and Spirit of Aloha all fall into this category. For these restaurants, if you do not cancel in time, you lose the full payment. However, if you do cancel within the appropriate time frame, you get a full refund.
Walt Disney Worlds 50th Anniversary Celebrations 2022
The biggest change to the Walt Disney World 2022 lineup is that Disney Worlds Most Magical Celebration will be happening ALL YEAR LONG. This will include special merchandise, special snacks, special shows, and more. Construction projects for new rides and restaurants will also begin to complete in 2022, allowing the potential of new attractions as well to add to your Disney Must-Do List. Some of the major projects to keep an eye out for, whether it be available as Advanced Dining Reservations for the restaurants or as Lightning Lane Selections, here are the big-ticket items.

Room Location And Information
- Adjacent rooms, connecting rooms or specific room location and types of rooms or bedding are on a request basis only and are subject to availability at the time of check-in. These requests for specific room type or location may result in additional charges to be paid directly to the hotel. Disney owned and operated resort hotels and Disney Vacation Club resorts are smoke free environments. Smoking is allowed in designated outdoor smoking locations only. A room recovery fee will be charged for smoking in guest rooms, on balconies or on patios.
- Please be advised that at Disney owned and operated hotels, notwithstanding your use of a sign on your door, a request by you to forgo housekeeping services or any other request made by you, the hotel and its staff reserve the right to enter your room for any purpose including, but not limited to, performing maintenance and repairs or checking on the safety and security of guests and property. The hotel staff will give reasonable notice prior to entry by knocking and announcing the intent to enter the room.
Is Disney Going Back To Normal In 2022
It depends what people mean by normal when they ask this question. Some things will never be the way they were and thats often because they were improved for a better. But usually when people ask about things being normal there are a few things theyre wondering about. Obviously I dont have any insider information or a crystal ball, but I can present the information thats been given to the public and some of my own personal speculation.
Masks and social distancing. I think a lot of this will be gone by 2022. My prediction? Social distancing will be eliminated before masks. The distancing is a bigger factor affecting what Disney can and cannot offer so theyll want to try and get rid of it. Masks will probably be optional for some time. But the hope is by 2022 neither of these things are required. Disney has already loosened the mask policy by allowing them to be removed for outdoor photos. I base these guesses off of a quote from Disney CEO Bob Chapek, who said in an earnings call in February 2022 that do we also believe that we will be in the same state of six-foot social distancing and mask wearing in 22? Absolutely not.
Do we also believe that we will be in the same state of six-foot social distancing and mask wearing in 22? Absolutely not.

Should You Rent A Car For Your Disney Vacation In 2022
Weve talked about the pros and cons of Driving to Walt Disney World before, and still stand by those realities. Flexibility is key, especially with the Magical Express retiring at the end of December 2021. In 2022, all guests will have to figure out transportation to and from the Orlando International Airport, so be prepared for that extra expense if you choose to fly. Its easy to just Uber from the airport and depend on Disney Transportation during your stay. This is one of our favorite ways to stay in the Disney bubble on vacation. If you are driving be sure to take note of the Disney Resort Fees and the Disney Parking Fees.
What Is The Disney Cancellation Policy
As per usual, there is no easy answer when it comes to Disney. The answer to this really depends on a few different factors. Well take a look at the basic Disney World cancellation policies and then discuss extenuating circumstances.
The main difference in the Disney cancellation policy comes in the form of the type of Disney reservation you have: a room only reservation or a Disney vacation package.

How Long Will You Stay
We always recommend staying on vacation as long as possible. Obviously. But since everyone has a real life to get back to be sure to check out our post on How Many Days Should You Stay at Disney. This will give you a good idea of what you can fit into your vacation without feeling rushed. And give you some insight on what you may want to skip if you need a shorter vacation. We typically recommend about 9-12 days to really make the most of a Disney Vacation.
Walt Disney World Cancellation Policies
Under normal conditions, Resort Packages would need to be canceled outside of 30-days prior to arrival for a full refund. Due to the pandemic, Disney World is waiving cancellation fees and penalties through June 30th. This will likely be extended if Disney World continues to remain closed.
Agency Exclusive Offers from Magical Vacations Travel, have a cancellation policy of 5-days prior to arrival for a full refund on the room, even if the reservation is paid in full.
Room-Only reservations can be cancelled up to 5-days prior to arrival for a full refund.
Walt Disney World Ticket Orders – tickets are generally non-fundable once purchased. However, tickets with unused days and date-specific tickets with a valid use period that falls within the closure period can be used through December 15, 2020. They can also be saved and used towards the cost of a ticket on a future visit to Walt Disney World.
Its worth noting that not one of my clients lost any money during this entire pandemic for having to change or cancel their reservations. Disney has been very understanding, its really nice to see.
So now is a great time to plan your visit to Walt Disney World. Bookings are way up for fall travel in particular and many of the Agency Exclusive Offers are beginning to sell out.
With such flexible deposit and cancellation policies, theres no reason to wait! View the Current Offers page for exclusive discounts throughout 2020 and get started today.

Disney in your Day
Of course I have to mention my own website after all the time and effort that has gone into it! I created Disney in your Day 8 years ago and there is lots of good content here. This page youre on is great for 2022 information, but you can also head to the Disney World planning section for details on resorts, theme parks, dining, and more.
Disney World website
Of course Disney is the official source and they have lots of great info for planning. I personally like the fact that they have menus for all of the restaurants so you can figure out the best places you want to eat!
Disney Food Blog ebooks
Speaking of food, Disney Food Blogs ebooks are my go-to resource for anything restaurant or food related. They have guides to restaurants, snacks, food festivals, holiday snacks, and more. I love having them in an ebook form because it makes everything much easier to find and learn about this way.
Disney Tourist Blog
This is my favorite Disney blog if you want some really in-depth, thoughtful looks on a number of Disney topics. Tom is very on top of things and provides the latest information with commentary, but he is very careful with rumors and only shares facts and makes it clear when he is just speculating or making a prediction.
If you want a really in-depth analytical look at things like wait times and crowds paired with a good dose of sarcasm, Josh at EasyWDW is your man. His day to day theme park touring posts are very useful too.
