I Had The Opposite Experience On Disney World’s Ferry

After taking the monorail to Epcot and spending some time in the theme park, I decided to head back to Magic Kingdom via Disney World’s water transportation.

There was a ferry waiting as I approached the dock, and it left shortly after I boarded. I spent the trip on the top deck, and loved how open and airy the ship was. I could stand far away from other parkgoers and simply enjoy the view.

Traveling From Epcot To Hollywood Studios

Epcot and Hollywood Studios are the closest together of any park and can easily be done in the same way. From the International Gateway of Epcot, you can even walk to Hollywood Studios, although its a fairly long walk, about 25 minutes.

You can also walk from the gateway to a hotel and take the boat or hop on the Skyliner, transferring at the Caribbean Beach Resort. A boat also connects the two parks.

Transportation Between Resorts And Disney Parks

Transportation Options that Will and Will Not be Available ...

Traveling to Disneyworld next May for the first time in 20 plus years. We will be attending a Princess breakfast at Akershus. Is there transportation from the resorts directly to the various parks other than the Magic Kingdom? I wasn’t sure if we had to take the bus to the Magic Kingdom and then switch to a bus for Epcot. Also how early do the buses start picking up guests? Thanks for any info!

All the resorts have transportation to all of the parks and Downtown Disney. For POR this would be by bus everywhere with the option of a boat to Downtown Disney. It will be operational so you can get there before opening and runs continuously throughout the day. Your wait should never be greater than 10-20 minutes.

Disney Resort

From POR take the Epcot Bus

If your Breakfast is before 8:00, there will be Character Breakfast Buses running Always ask the Character Breakfast Bus Drivers which Parks or Resorts they are heading to, there will be more than 1 bus

Here is a bit of info about POR

Thanks for the replies……….Party Pa I have been reading your posts for several months. You have a lot of great advice!

Complete Guide To Using Uber At Walt Disney World

We talk about Uber a lot on this blog, and thats because it works very well at Disney World. with several months of daily Uber rides around the resort, and with it becoming a huge part of our shorter trips, we thought it might be a good time to share what weve learned. Heres your guide to Uber at Walt Disney World.

How To Beat The Crowds At Park Close

After the nighttime entertainment ends and crowds leave in droves, there will be long, long..long lines at the bus stops. To avoid this, consider 1 of these options:

  • Take a taxi or Uber/Lyft back to your resort
  • Use a Minnie Van
  • Position yourself so youre one of the first to leave the park and one of the first to get to your bus stop
  • View from outside the park so youre not caught in the crowds at all. This mainly works at Magic Kingdom, where you can view fireworks from one of the beaches at the monorail resorts. It doesnt work as well at the other nighttime shows.

Understanding The Low Efficiency Rating For Disney World Transportation System Buses

Disney World transportation system buses ranked low in efficiency and overall experience due to a variety of reasons. How long we had to stand at the stop waiting for the next bus was one reason, but loading times had a big impact on the overall experience factor. For instance, the rising number of ECVs in use throughout the parks can quickly throw a wrench in estimated travel times. Each scooter requires 4-7 minutes to load. This is important to note for a variety of reasons. If youre traveling with an ECV or a passenger of one, you will be loaded before other guests waiting at the stop, almost assuring you a seat on the arriving bus. However, youll need to account for additional loading time in your travel plans.

If four to seven minutes doesnt seem like much of an adjustment to your time schedule, consider the impact of other passengers with wheelchairs or ECVs.

Buses are equipped to hold a limited number of units. If several passengers riding scooters are in front of you in line, you may be asked to wait for the next bus. That could add an additional 20 minutes or more to your travel plans.

If youre a foot passenger, be advised that ECVs usually take the place of three to four seats. A similar situation holds true if a lot of parents are traveling with larger strollers. Even when folded, these devices consume space, limiting the number of standing passengers the bus can hold.

Taxis And Ride Hailing Services

A taxi fare between the furthest points on Disney World property should rarely exceed $20 plus tip.

When using taxis on Disney property, use only the ones colored yellow that have meters! They have various names on the side , but are all operated by Mears Transport, which has an official relationship with Disney.

We discussed Ride Hailing Services above as a method to get to Disney World, but they are an even better option for getting around WDW.

General Advice For Disneyland California

Disneyland Resort itself is quite compact, and theres no real reason to take a taxi or Lyft anywhere from one part of Disneyland to another. You can walk from one end to the other in less than 15 minutes, and thats if you stroll. You may want to use a taxi or Lyft to travel between Disneyland and the airport or another attraction like Knotts Berry Farm or Universal Studios Hollywood, though we recommend checking Ride Guru for a cost estimate depending on the airport or attraction, the taxi fares can be very high. If you have small children, do keep in mind that taxis and on-demand ride services rarely carry car seats, and if they do theres no guarantee theyll be the right size. If you plan to travel a bunch in Southern California with children, we recommend bringing your own car seats .

Traveling Between Disney Springs Hotels

Disney Springs is made up of official Disney hotels and partner hotels, the latter of which have separate transportation. They may have shuttles to the parks and Disney Springs but dont use the same timetables.

There is boat transportation to the official Disney Springs hotels but its currently not operating. They usually run to Port Orleans , Old Key West , and Saratoga Springs resorts .

Theres also a water taxi that connects one side of the entertainment district to the other. Its also an easy walk to Saratoga Springs.

Traveling From The Magic Kingdom To Animal Kingdom

The farthest distance between two parks is the kingdoms: Magic and Animal. At minimum, it will take 30 minutes to get between them by Disney transportation.

The easiest way is to walk to any Magic Kingdom area resort hotel and take the bus to the Animal Kingdom. Because of the location, it can be difficult to leave during the day or park hop.

Whats A Tourist To Do

Not that these Disney guests will be stranded not by a long shot. Even as WDW said in their statement, Vacationers have more options to choose from than ever for transportation, including ride-share services that save time and offer more flexibility to go where they want, when they want.

Uber and Lyft hadnt even been invented when DME started and theyre popular options nowadays. And, of course, taxis or renting a car have always been viable possibilities.

Before DME started in 2005, Mears provided ongoing transportation to and from WDW. Make a reservation, go to the designated meeting place, and either a shuttle bus or a full-sized motor coach brought you to your hotel. The bus driver loaded and unloaded your luggage, and after you checked into your hotel, bell services could bring your stuff to your room, or you could bring it yourself . Reverse the steps for when you were going home.

In response to Disneys decision, Mears spokesperson Roger Chapin told Spectrum News the following:

Walt Disney made us aware of their decision. While we are disappointed Disney will no longer offer this service, we intend to continue offering transportation services between the airport and all area theme parks and hotels to meet the demand of our visitors now and in the future.

So it sounds as if that will come back/continue.

The Monorail Was Too Hot And Crowded For Me To Enjoy

Not only did it take a long time to travel between the two theme parks as a result of technical issues that day, but I also felt pretty uncomfortable inside the train.

A lack of air conditioning made it feel stuffy, and being around so many people in an enclosed space made me nervous about COVID-19. I’m fully vaccinated and wore two masks, but not everyone on the monorail kept their face coverings above their noses.
