Disney World Resorts Ranked By Price

Rooms At The Value Resorts

Ranking Disney World Value Resorts

Pop Century Resort is entirely newly refurbished rooms. All-Star Movies is now the same, and it is expected that Music and Sports will be next.

Currently, Art of Animation is not expected to get refurbished rooms in the near future. Its current rooms are somewhere between the other old and new rooms in quality.

New value room

Rooms are the factor we weight most in comparing the value resorts . Some people dont like the new feel of the refurbished rooms.

We get that theyre a step in the direction of a clean and modern aesthetic. While we dont care much for that among the deluxe and moderate resorts, we find it to be an improvement over the old value rooms.

Port Orleans Resort Riverside

Disneys Port Orleans Resort Riverside reflects a southern antebellum along the Mississippi River.

Built in 1992, the resort initially opened the Alligator Bayou section, and later added the Magnolia Bend section a short time after.

Each section has 1,024 guest rooms, with Alligator Bayous featuring rustic, weathered lodges and Magnolia Bend styled with buildings to mimic the grand manor homes of southern plantations.

Some notable features of Port Orleans Resort Riverside include the Riverside Mill Food Court , Boatwrights Dining Hall , the Ol Man Island pool, and 5 smaller leisure pools scattered about the property.

Guests can take buses to/from the theme parks, or take the Sassagoula River Cruise boat to Disney Springs .

Bottom Line:

Port Orleans Riversides theming is spectacular, particularly if you are an adult.

There are quiet and scenic pathways stretching through the bayou wilderness along the banks of the Sassagoula River.

You really feel like you are in a Louisiana port city instead of inside Disney World.

The manicured grounds with the mansions as a backdrop are also a sight to behold.

We also love the riverboat access to Disney Springs.

We dont recommend this resort for small children. However for couples, adults, and possibly teenagers both Port Orleans-Riverside resorts are a fantastic option.

Disneys Caribbean Beach Resort

Caribbean Beach Resort might have the most internal stops of any hotel , but it also has access to the Skyliner to get to Disneys Hollywood Studios and EPCOT. The rest of the transportation relies on that bus.

Wilderness Lodge is primarily bus, but it does have access to a boat to Magic Kingdom. Boat to the park beats boat to Disney Springs!

Art of Animation and Pop Century share a Skyliner station that can get busy but not as busy as the gondola systems hub at Caribbean Beach. Buses pick up the other routes.

Port Orleans French Quarter

August 2020 at Walt Disney World

Earning the winning spot on our Moderate Resorts list is Port Orleans French Quarter. A whopping 97 % of our readers recommend this resort! With the jazz music playing faintly in the background, Port Orleans French Quarter is themed after the heart of New Orleans.

Many of you noted your preference to this resort due to its smaller size. With just one bus stop and the fewest number of rooms in the Moderate category, French Quarter has a cozy feel. Room options include Standard, Garden View, River Water View, Pool View, and King Rooms with prices ranging from $246-$388 per night. This resort as well as its sister resort Port Orleans Riverside offer a scenic boat ride down the Sassagoula River to Disney Springs, making it a great place to stay if youre planning on frequently enjoying the shopping and dining district.

Be sure to try the Sassagoula Floatworks Food Factory which has tons of New-Orleans inspired dishes to try.

Taking the number two slot and sprawling across 700 acres, Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground offers the Cabins at Fort Wilderness. The Cabins are recommended by 96 % of our readers with a rating of 8.68.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Value Resorts in Walt Disney World Ranked

2020 Standard Room Rates: $593 – $973

Polynesian, as our second choice around the monorail, comes in at the #5 spot.

Theres a lot we love about Polynesian. The dining options are good, with Ohana being a favorite for many families and Kona Cafe being our favorite breakfast spot on property. Trader Sams Grog Grotto and Trader Sams Tiki Terrace are arguably the two best spots to grab a drink at Walt Disney World.

The location along the monorail is obviously a huge selling point, though youre multiple stops away from the park either direction . Boat access to and from Magic Kingdom is another good perk.

While the theming at the resort generally is almost on par with Animal Kingdom Lodge and Wilderness Lodge, were really not fans of the rooms.

I think its a tad harsh to call them lifeless, but its really the best word I have for how I feel about these rooms. They dont speak to me. They just seem to be minimalism gone astray. You can look for yourself and decide how you feel about them, though.

The pool is fantastic, and a far more fun and themed space than the other two pools around the monorail. If youre not depressed by the rooms, I could see the pool being enough for you to put this hotel at the top of your monorail loop list.

With an accessible location , the other big selling points for Polynesianrestaurants, bars, and resort-wide themingare accessible without booking a stay at the hotel.

Choosing Your Walt Disney World Hotel

Almost 90% of TouringPlans users stay at a Disney hotel during their trips. Beyond the convenience and amenities, users say they enjoy being in the Disney bubble the special magic and peace of mind associated with staying inside Walt Disney World.

One family sums it up like this:

I feel more a part of everything and less like a visitor.

Consider a Disney Hotel First

Weve stayed at over 100 hotels in and around Walt Disney World hotel research is one of our core areas of work. We think most families first choice should be an on-site hotel at Walt Disney World. The slightly higher cost is generally more than offset by these benefits:

Disney World Hotel Categories

Disney groups its resorts into five main categories:

  • Value Resorts have the lowest rates, along with the smallest rooms and amenities.
  • Moderate Resorts are a step up from the Values in room quality, amenities, and cost.
  • Deluxe Resorts are Disneys top-of-the-line hotels, with extensive themeing, luxurious rooms, and superior on-site dining, recreation, and services.
  • Deluxe Villa Resorts are part of the Disney Vacation Club timeshare, these are studio, 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom suites with kitchens. Most are attached to a Deluxe resort, and many equal or surpass Deluxe resorts in quality. They can also be a better value.
  • Fort Wilderness Campground offers upscale tent, RV, and cabin camping.

Spend Your Savings On Something Else

A hotel is just a place to put your head between theme parks, dinners, bars, shows, and any other Disney experience you can think of. Why not save $200 per night on the resort and spend that $200 elsewhere?

Staying at a value resort doesnt have to mean your entire trip has to be value-focused. For the most part, we stay at value resorts because we spend so little time at our resort during trips, so wed rather have that money for all the other great things at Disney World.

$200 per night is dinner for two at a signature restaurant. You can take a tour . You can mini-golf at Fantasia gardens. You can buy more merchandise. Heck you might even be able to add a day or two to your trip!

What Restrictions Are In Place At Disney

The Best & Worst of Walt Disney World Value Resorts

While a face mask is not required for walking around the parks outside anymore, masks are currently required indoors except when you are actively eating or drinking.

To enter the resorts, both a park reservation and a valid theme park admission ticket for the same park on the same date are required. A hotel reservation does not guarantee theme park access.

Best Overall: Disneys Riviera Resort

Disneys Riviera Resort

Disney Worlds newest hotel has luxury amenities, buzzworthy dining, and easy access to the new Skyliner gondola transportation system.

  • Two pools and a splash pad

  • Four restaurants

  • Some rooms with only Murphy beds

  • Less Disney feel

Inspired by Walt Disneys vacations to the South of France, Disneys Riviera Resort is the newest Walt Disney World hotel that opened towards the end of 2019. The hotels luxury feel starts the moment you walk into the gleaming white lobby with its view of the lake beyond and extends to the furthest corners of the resorts outdoor spaces, where youll find gorgeous inlaid murals of scenes from Disney movies like “Tangled.”But overall, the resort feels more like a luxury hotel than a Disney-themed one.

The smallest rooms are Tower Studios which feature pull-down queen Murphy beds and mini-kitchenettes, and the largest are three-bedroom suites with full kitchens and in-room washers and dryers. Three restaurants range from fine character dining at Topolinos Terrace, a rooftop restaurant that has views of the Hollywood Studios fireworks when theyre happening, to quick service at Primo Piatto and Bar Riva, the poolside bar serving small plates. By day, Le Petite Café is a coffee shop by night it becomes a cocktail lounge. Because Riviera has a Skyliner stop, this hotel has especially quick access to Epcot and Hollywood Studios on the new aerial gondola system.

Value Resorts At Walt Disney World

If youre just looking for the basics, a Value Resort may be for you! Value Resorts have smaller rooms and oversized, somewhat garish décor. But they are clean and convenient and cover all the basics a family needs on vacation. Value Resorts offer a food court and pool, but no water slide or hot tub.

Transportation to and from Value Resorts used to be bus service only, but the launch of the Skyliner changed all that for the better! The Skyliner connects Pop Century Resort and Art of Animation Resort to both EPCOT and Disneys Hollywood Studios.

However, this convenience comes with an added price tag, as rooms at these two resorts typically cost more than staying at the All Star Value Resorts.

Disneys Art of Animation Resort is also the newest and has mostly suites, a bigger food court and common areas, and therefore has a higher rate. For the latest on Disney resort prices, .

Port Orleans French Quarter Recreation

Ranking Disney Vacation Club Home Resorts at Walt Disney World | Our Favorite DVC Home Resorts

Port Orleans French Quarter has inventive and exciting recreation options, like a pool complex that that is a whopping size of 225,00 gallons and a 95 foot sea-serpent slide. The Doubloon Lagoon is so large, that is also has a smaller kiddie area, smaller water slide and a hot tub. We love the theming at this lagoon, with water shooting alligators that play lovely jazz music while youre splashing around. There are also other favorites like a paved walking or jogging trail, Movies Under the Stars and more!

  • Huge pool complex with multiple slides, hot tub and kids splash area
  • Arcade

The Cabins At Fort Wilderness

The Cabins at Fort Wilderness is a unique Disney resort experience that is unlike any other on property. Although set up like a deluxe villa resort stay, the Fort Wilderness cabins have come in as a Disney moderate resort. The only reason this resort ranks in at #5, is that we believe it should be in a different resort category!

The Cabins at Fort Wilderness create a very unique camping experience allowing you and 5 other guests to share a large cabin in the woods! This experience is rustic, and outdoorsy while hiding the fact that Magic Kingdom is right around the corner from it. This resort covers over 700 acres of land, with 409 fully-furnished cabins. The Cabins at Fort Wilderness layout comes with with full kitchens, flat screen TVs and plenty of space.

A pro and a con of this resort is that it is so large. You are going to feel isolated from your cabin neighbors, but you are also going to have to walk rather far to catch a bus to head into the parks. There is a boat taxi that will take you into Magic Kingdom, but for any other park, you must find one of the multiple stops.
