Typhoon Lagoon’s Wave Pool Pushes Out 6
At Typhoon Lagoon’s Surf Pool, a loud horn signals the start of each new wave cycle, during which the water is pushed into 6-foot-tall waves every 90 seconds.
Even if guests can’t sign up for the private surf lessons, the pool is still a popular attraction throughout the day due to its steady stream of waves.

Food And Drink At Blizzard Beach
Food and Drink options are more limited at Blizzard Beach than at Typhoon Lagoon. There is one main quick service restaurant, three smaller quick service stands, two snack / ice cream stands, and two bars. There are also two Joffreys Coffee stands. One is next to Lottawatta Lodge near the lazy river. The other is at the north end of Melt-Away Bay.
All the food options at Blizzard Beach are quick service restaurants for those on a Disney dining plan or smaller stands that dont take the dining plan. There are no table service restaurants. Several restaurants and bars are seasonal and will be closed outside of summer. Well refer to those that are not seasonal as year-round even though the park itself is not open year-round.
One final note, there are beverage refill stations throughout the park, but these do not work with Disney hotel mugs. Instead, you either need to purchase a new mug for $11.99 or reactivate an old mug for $8.50 . The mugs work at both water parks and your one day covers use at both parks.
Walt Disney World Water Parks
Disney’sBlizzard Bech Water ParkWater Parks at Disney World have come a long way. Thenewest water park in “the world” is Disney’sBlizzard Bech Water Park. Themed after a ski resort, this offers the largestnumber of water “thrill rides” of the threewater parks. Of special terror is Summit Plummet . The160ft high mountain sends guests on a body slide straightdown….at nearly 65 miles per hour!! I REFUSED to goon this .Other rides include a bob-sled ride, a slalom ride, andthe infamous “family ride”. I don’t know whose”family” this was…but up to 6 people get intoa big tube and fly down this flume . Scary..but fun.
Disney’sTyphoon Lagoon Water ParkAnothergreat water park is Disney’sTyphoon Lagoon Water Park. This features a couple of healthybody slides, a very nice and relaxing inner tube creekride that runs the perimeter of the park, and the bigWave Pool . Every few minutes this pool self generates6 foot waves and douses everyone in it’s wake. Also ofnote here is the diving pool. Guests are invited to sporta scuba mask, and swim across the surface of a pool loadedwith tropical fish and plant life, oh..and yes, a sharkor two . Since I’m a lousy swimmer, Iavoid this…but those who consciously avoid swimmingwith sharks can view the action in an underground viewingarea.

Do Walt Disney World Value Resorts Have Water Slides
One thing you will NOT see at the Value Resorts are Water Slides. The Disney World Value Resorts in Orlando are a wonderful place to stay if you are on a budget. Truth be told, kids seem to like these a little better than the Moderate and Deluxe Resorts. Displaying colorful and playful Characters that tower above your make the Value Resorts appealing to the smaller children. The size of the pools and the other fun activities will completely make up for it and Value Resorts are wonderful places to stay.
Blizzard Beach Ride Touring
Remember, youre typically looking at 5 to 15 minute waits at Blizzard Beach. During midday on nice, summer days or spring break season, youll get up to 30 minutes. The most efficient way to visit the attractions is by proceeding counter-clockwise around the park and hitting them roughly in geographic order.
Heres what the standard recommended order would look like:
But if you start your rides at the peak of the day from 11AM to 2PM, head up the Green Slopes and consider starting with Teamboat Springs if the Summit Plummer and Slush Gusher lines are long. Then come back for those two as crowds thin out into the afternoon. After youre done with the rides, sit back and enjoy the play areas, wave pool, and lazy river.

Water Park And Sports Add On To Theme Park Tickets
If you are purchasing Disney world theme park tickets, a $70 Water Park and Sports add on that includes water park access is available. If your plan was just to put standard tickets and then purchase a single-day water park ticket, this option will probably make more sense. That $70 is per ticket, not per day, and good for the entire length of the ticket.
Unlike the single-day tickets, this add-on allows you a fixed number of visits to included activities. You get one access for each day of your ticket length, but the visits dont have to be one-per-day.
So a five-day ticket with the add on gets five visits to included activities, but you could use all five in one day or one each day or anything in between.
So, what activities are included? Well, always check the specific add-on terms when you purchase because they can change, but generally: Blizzard Beach water park, Typhoon Lagoon water park, NBA Experience, Oak Trail golf course greens fees, Fantasia Gardens Mini-Golf after 4PM, Winter Summerland Mini-Golf after 4PM.

Walt Disney World’s Water Parks Won’t Reopen Until 2021
Disney World posted to its website today that it plans to open either Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon on March 7, 2021. The resort did not specify which water park would return and noted that the reopening is subject to government approval.
“We may adjust our proposed reopening date, and if that happens, we will let Guests know what to expect in a future update,” the Disney World website said.
Disney’s Florida theme parks continue to operate at reduce capacity due to the need for safe physical distancing during the pandemic. The theme parks reopened in mid-July after closing in March. Disney’s water parks typically operate on reduced schedules during the fall and winter months, and with sharply reduced travel to Florida due to domestic and international travel restrictions, it’s not surprising that Disney would choose to wait until spring before bringing back its water parks, which are much more weather dependent that the theme parks.
However, Disney’s competitors in Central Florida have reopened their water parks, with Volcano Bay at Universal Orlando and Aquatica at SeaWorld Orlando both welcoming back guests this summer. However, both parks have announced that they will be closed on select days during the upcoming months.
Chlorine doesn’t kill anything in the air. And even the Dells shut down their water parks earlier than usual.
