Pop Century Grounds & Theming
The theme of Pop Century is pop culture from the 1950s through 1990s. Each section of buildings is themed to a decade.
Pop Century comprises 11 buildings and three pools. The main building is Classic Hall. Thats where youll find the Everything Pop! store and food court, lobby, concierge, but stops, and arcade. Directly behind Classic Hall is the main poolthe Hippy Dippy Poolin between the two 60s-themed buildings .
North of the 60s buildings are buildings 1, 2, and 3, themed to the 50s and with the Bowling Pool between them. South of the 60s are buildings 6 and 10 themed to the 70s. And south of those buildings are 7 and 980s themedand 890s themed. Those three sit around the Computer Pool. All three pools have laundry rooms near them.
West of the entire resortso straight out back and past the 60s buildingsis Hourglass Lake, which you can cross to get to Art of Animation.
Checking In And Checking Out
Now more than ever, Disney strongly encourages guests to check-in onlineor by using the My Disney Experience app. You can still check-in at the front desk, but try to avoid it.
- When checking-in: If you check-in online or via the app, you should receive a notification that your room is ready via text message or from My Disney Experience. You will then use your MagicBand or My Disney Experiences digital key feature to unlock your door.
- When checking-out: Guests will automatically be checked out of their rooms. If you have unresolved charges to your hotel folio, youll need to visit the front desk.
You can also chat virtually with resort Cast Members through My Disney Experience. Of course, you can also use the phone in your room for further assistance.
If youd like to request a later checkout than the standard 11 a.m., just call and ask. Its not guaranteed, but we were able to checkout at 12:30 p.m.
Note: Sometimes you wont receive a room-ready notification. We actually had to call well after the check-in time to see if our room was ready. Thankfully, we were at Magic Kingdom, so we had something to do. But, always keep an eye on your app and push notifications.
Despite staying at a WDW resort during an ongoing pandemic, Pop Century still felt like a magical Disney hotel. Yes, its different, but its also what you make of it.
Whether it be pre- or post-pandemic, have you stayed at Pop Century? What did you think? Let me know in the comments!
Pop Century Pools And Activities
Here are some pictures of the pools. First, the Hippy Dippy Pool between the 60s buildings.
And the Bowling Pool by the 50s buildings.
And finally the Computer Pool in the 80s and 90s area.
Pop has a standard value resort lineup of activities. The list doesnt run deep, but it would fill an afternoon.
We dont often highlight fitness opportunities around the resorts, but Hourglass lake between Pop Century and Art of Animation is a great route to run or walk. Its a 1.2 mile loop with some great views. Along the way, youll see signs with fun facts about the different decades.

Complimentary Transportation To And From Pop Century
Guests staying at Pop Century and other Disney World resort hotels are able to use a variety of complimentary Disney transportation offerings. Buses to the theme parks and Disney Springs pick up outside of Classic Hall.
However, with its soaring aerial views and spacious gondolas, our favorite way to get around when staying at Pop Century is the Disney Skyliner. Pop Century shares a Skyliner station on Generation Gap Bridge with another value resort, Disneys Art of Animation. Once onboard at the Pop Century Skyliner station, youll be whisked away to Disneys Caribbean Beach Resort, with the choice to continue to either Disneys Hollywood Studios or Epcot, as well as the Riviera Resort.

Pop Century Resort Overview
Taking a trip through the last half century of American pop culture is what lies at the cornerstone of Disney’s Pop Century resort. As one of Disney’s ‘value’ resorts, Pop Century has offerings similar to other resorts in its category in terms of room size and amenities, and general layout.
The theme at this resort covers the 1950s – 1990s, and each section represents a different decade with iconic images ranging from Big Wheels to bowling pins, 8 track tapes, and Rubik’s Cubes, among many others. There are a total of ten buildings at the resort, each with four floors . The main building is called “Classic Hall” and is where the check in desk, gift shop, food court and arcade are located.
There are three pools at the resort, with the Hippy Dippy pool being the largest among them. Pools are also located in the 90s area and the 50s area . The food court at Pop Century is called “Everything Pop,” and it serves an assortment of food ranging from baked goods to pasta and pizza and grilled specialties.
Rooms at the Pop Century are consistent with Disney’s other value resorts. A typcial room is 260-square feet with either 1 Queen-size bed plus 1 Queen-size pull down bed or 1 King bed. Preferred rooms are located closer to Classic Hall and are available for an additional charge.

Transportation At Pop Century Resort
Like all Disney hotels, you can get to the hotel from MCO for free via Disneys Magical Express . To get to any of the four theme parks, Disney Springs, Typhoon Lagoon, or Blizzard Beach, youll rely on a combination of Disney bus transportation and the Disney Skyliner .
To Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and the two water parks, youll be relying strictly on buses. You can check approximate bus wait times for your hotel in the My Disney Experience app and they are also posted at all the resort bus stops in Disney World.
Travel times to the parks are, approximately:
Pop Century to/from Magic Kingdom 15-20 minutes
Pop Century to/from Animal Kingdom 10 minutes
Epcot and Hollywood Studios arent too far either, but between bus load times and wait times its usually going to make sense to take the Skyliner to those parks .
When the Skyliner is running, bus frequency to those parks is reduced to once per hour. Generally this isnt a huge deal, but if you wanted to rope drop Test Track at Epcot, you might have to wake up extra early or take an Uber.
While relying on bus transportation isnt ideal, its always going to be a part of a Walt Disney World Resort vacation, no matter where you stay.

Disney Pop Century Rooms
Disneys Pop Century Resort has earned a respectable 4.0 on TripAdvisor. Like most of the other value resorts, Pop Century hotel rooms are on the smaller side a petite 260 square feet so we wouldnt recommend them for large families or groups. And while you wont find too many room types , you are able to choose a closer, preferred room or one with a view of one of the pools.
While the outsides of the hotel buildings take their inspiration from the 1950s to 1960s, Disney Pop Century Resort rooms feature modern, clean-lined furniture with a hint of mid-century modern, bright primary colors, and Disney takes on pop art. Best of all, Pop Century bathrooms are divided with a pocket door separating the sink from the toilet and shower, making it easy to avoid early-morning traffic jams when getting ready for the day.
In general, youll find the following Pop Century room amenities in both standard and preferred rooms: a hairdryer, iron, ironing board, mini-refrigerator, coffee maker, in-room safe, telephone with voicemail, and free Wi-Fi.
Pop Century Standard Room
- Comes with 1 king bed or 1 queen bed & 1 queen-sized table bed
