Star Wars At Disney World: Everything To See And Do At The Orlando Theme Park

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser opens at Walt Disney World

ByDirk Libbeypublished 16 May 21

When the Walt Disney Company bought Lucasfilm in 2012 it came with the promise of a massive expansion of the galaxy far, far away. We’ve seen that expansion take place in film, and on television, and perhaps most impressively, in the theme parks. Of all the various corners of Disney’s empire that are represented at Walt Disney World, none are quite as impressive as what has been done with Star Wars. Not only does the franchise have its own land inside one of the Orlando parks, it’s one of the largest and most immersive spaces Disney has ever attempted.

While the amount of Star Wars stuff that can be done at Walt Disney World is massive, it’s basically all contained inside a simple theme park. If you want to experience Star Wars at Disney World, there’s really only one place to go, Disney’s Hollywood Studios. You wouldn’t expect to find much related to Star Wars at a place like Disney’s Animal Kingdom or Epcot, the theme doesn’t quite fit. And while Disneyland itself is where you find all things Star Wars in California, including some elements in Tomorrowland, its sister park in Florida, Magic Kingdom, doesn’t have the same attractions. Having said that, there’s enough Star Wars to be found at Hollywood Studios that you could easily spend an entire day doing nothing else. Here’s a rundown of all things Star Wars found at Disney World.

You Might Want To Buckle Up Because Disney World’s Brand

Curious about what its like to check in? Weve got the answers to all your questions, from the characters youll spy on your ship to the out-of-this-world Disney World food youll find only here. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge At Walt Disney World Attractions

Of course, the star attractions of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Walt Disney World are the rides. Being one of the pilots on the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run is basically a life-changing experience. But Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance toadally rocked my world in the best way possible. You can’t visit Galaxy’s Edge without experiencing these epic attractions!

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run

Ready to ride the fastest ship in the galaxy? Not so fast! Before you board, you’ll walk through a full-size replica of the Millennium Falcon. This is one queue you don’t want to skip! Can you imagine climbing through the hatch and walking through the hallways before you finally arrive to take a seat inside the cockpit? I’m getting goosebumps just thinking about it! Try not to get too distracted because there is a mission. Space pirate Hondo Ohnaka of “Clone Wars” and “Star Wars Rebels” fame has cut a deal with Chewbacca for use of the Falcon. He will lead you on a secret mission to bring back the loot as you hurl through hyperspace.

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run uses real-time video technology that will respond to the way you use the cockpit controls. Here’s the TLDR: You’ll see the real-time results of your mission, so make it count! With the cockpit allowing six people, you will be matched with another party. If you have a larger group, you’ll be split up. The FastPass+ line is currently unavailable, but the Single Rider line has recently returned.

Disney World Vs Disneyland: How Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Is Different At Each Theme Park

ByDirk Libbeypublished 16 April 21

When Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge was first announced, it was a huge deal. It was an entire land dedicated to Star Wars. It was one of the largest expansions that a Disney theme park had ever seen, and even more, both Disneyland Resort in California and Walt Disney World in Florida were getting the new land, making it that much easier for guests to explore the galaxy far, far, away. We were told that the two lands would have all the same stuff, so everybody could visit whichever land was easiest for them. And yet.

While it’s certainly true that both versions of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge have Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run and Rise of the Resistance, and each one has a place to build a lightsaber or a droid, the truth is that these two lands aren’t exactly identical. To be sure, the differences are minor and aren’t likely to drastically impact your trip, but there are differences. Take a look.

Disney Is Serving A Star Wars Cocktail On Its Wish Cruise That Costs More Than A Pre

Disney is set to serve a $5,000 Star Wars cocktail on the Wish Cruise. Yes, it is expensive, hides no magical potions, and omits an accompanying light-saber. A jolly good time is a given but one that will cost you. Disneys immersive Star Wars experience is where you will get to devour the Kaiburr Crystal drink probably only once, considering the staggering price, on the fantastic two-day adventure aboard the Galactic Starcruiser. According to Comic Book, the $5000 drink comes in a hefty carrier complete with mechanical doors and a smoke effect before you grab a glass that appears to be a size similar to a shot glass. To add to the mystique, the contents are not revealed, meaning there is a chance you might not even like what you had for a hefty sum.

The most expensive drink in the galaxy. The Star Wars Hyperspace Lounge on the Disney Wish has a $5,000 Kaiburr Crystal drink.

Ashley Carter

Ashley Carter shared the Kaiburr Crystal drink video on and wrote, The most expensive drink in the galaxy. The Star Wars Hyperspace Lounge on the Disney Wish has a $5,000 Kaiburr Crystal drink. As expected, the response was both a shaken and stirred Twitter. One user lamented, This is ridiculous and another example of how out-of-touch Disney is becoming. Another user questioned, o what is actually in it? Does it give you Force powers or something?

Speaking of absurd why spend $5,000 on a cocktail when you can get a pre owned Rolex Air King for the same price.

ORLANDO, Fla. Carina Ja had a skeptical look on her face as she glanced around the lobby of her Walt Disney World hotel.

Checking in had been a cinch. But staffers were now bombarding her with a bizarre greeting as part of a role-playing game, the parameters of which were not entirely clear. Suddenly, a siren sounded, red lights flashed and Stormtroopers appeared with blaster rifles brandished.

Ms. Jas side-eye turned to a smile. Thats actually kind of perfect, she said. But I still dont know if Disney is going to pull this off. Its easy to get Star Wars wrong, as weve seen with their last three movies.

Ouch. An uncompromising Star Wars fan is she exactly the type of person Disney is targeting with its latest Florida attraction, one that reflects a push by the company to create premium offerings that appeal to guests who want a more intimate experience: more high-end personalization, less waiting in line with the sweaty masses.

Characters Of Star Wars: Galaxys Edge At Walt Disney World

One of the things I love about the land is meeting some of the colorful characters and exotic creatures hiding out and making deals in Black Spire Outpost ! Besides this green frog, you’ll see aliens, droids and humanoids. You may also spot some familiar faces, including Chewbacca, Kylo Ren and Rey! I also enjoy running into Vi Moradi. Watch out for her, because she keeps a low profile! The Resistance spy has blue hair and wears an orange jacket. Most of the characters can be spotted at the speeder garage across from Droid Depot, while Kylo Ren and his stormtroopers interrogate guests by their TIE Echelon near the Milk Stand.

But what really brings the land to life are the Batuu residents the cast members. They are dressed as villagers, Resistance members and First Order soldiers. They’ve been trained to interact with guests, and each person has a backstory. So, don’t be shy to chat with them. You’ll learn all about their life on Batuu! While they’re in character, they may be confused if you ask questions like, “How do you get to Tower of Terror?” Instead, ask them where they live, why they’re in Black Spire Outpost or what they think of the Resistance and the First Order showing up.

Before you go, brush up on the language of Batuu! You’ll hear the residents use these common phrases:

    • “Bright suns” = “Good morning”
    • “Only the ancients know” = “I don’t know”
    • “Til the Spire” or “May the Spires keep you” = “Goodbye”

    Additional Tips And Information

Where to Shop: Savis Workshop, Toydarian Toymaker, Dok-ondars Den of Antiquities, Creature Stall and Black Spire Outfitters

Where to Eat: Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo, Ogas Cantina and Ronto Roasters. Dont forget to try the Kat Sakas Kettle popcorn.

The Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance ride has opened! The Walt Disney Company has said that Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is their most ambitious project yet. I personally loved the ride, its definitely the most progressive Disney theme park attraction. The Disney Imagineers have worked hard to create one of the best rides in theme park history!

Only Walt Disney World’s Galaxy’s Edge Is Getting The Galactic Starcruiser

Ok, so this one isn’t a current difference, but it is on the way, and when it gets here it’s going to be huge. Only Walt Disney World is getting the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, a new location that is equal parts hotel and theme park in its own right. The spot will see guests take on the roles of travelers aboard a luxury starcruiser, being able to take advantage of various amenities and activities over the course of a couple of days. One of those activities will be a shore excursion to the planet Batuu.

While it’s unclear what difference the Galactic Starcruiser will play for those who aren’t actually staying there, it will likely be a very big difference for those who are, and its presence will certainly be felt simply by being visible. It will likely make Galaxy’s Edge feel very different at Walt Disney World since there won’t be a corresponding location at Disneyland.

Unless you are desperate for a shot of rum in your Blue Milk , these differences between the two lands are unlikely to really make you have a different experience. At the same time, each of these differences are very noticeable. If you go to Galaxy’s Edge at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World then, much like Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom, they will feel similar, but they will also feel strangely different, like you stepped into a parallel universe and found yourself in a slightly different version of a place you thought you knew so well.

What Is Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser

Disney opens second immersive Star Wars: Galaxy

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, a fully themed hotel, will arrive in 2022 , and it promises to be even more revolutionary than everything else Disney has been doing with its crown-jewel property. Check out the full details of this next-level immersive experience here. You can also check out a sample itinerary of the experience on our article here.

Live Your Own Star Wars Story

For an added level of immersion, guests can turn their smartphones into personal datapads through the Play Disney Parks app. With it, you can access hidden features in the park – with the ability to interact with droids, scan for information and translate foreign languages.

The next time you return to the park your profile will be remembered. Youll be able to take on more difficult tasks, earn more credits, and fall deeper into the lore of Black Spire Outpost.

The Color Scheme Is Different At Both Theme Parks

While both theme parks are supposed to be representing the same place– a planet called Batuu — at the same time — a spot in the Star Wars timeline between The Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker — they don’t actually look exactly the same. The colors used at Disney’s Hollywood Studios pop a bit more, while at Disneyland the stone that makes up the exterior of Black Spire Outpost are more muted. More than likely this was done to help the land stand out more in the wildly different climates of Southern California and Central Florida.

Yet that’s not all, even very specific choices, like say, the look of the podracer engine being used to cook meat at Ronto Roasters, isn’t the same in both spots. Disneyland’s engine, like the rest of the land, is a more pale blue, like the engine has been sitting out in the sun for a long time. The coloring at Hollywood Studios is much darker. And that’s not all, they’re technically not even the same engine, as the Aurebesh symbol on the two engines is not the same.

Located in the middle of Hollywood Studios is a Star Wars-themed stage show that runs at various times throughout the day. This live-action adventure has heroes and villains including Kylo Ren, Chewbacca, BB-8, Darth Maul, Darth Vader, and Rey taking the stage as they bring scenes from the beloved movies to life.

Thanks to the shows centralized location, youll get glimpses of it throughout the day even if youre not stopping to watch the whole thing.

What Are Star Wars: Galaxys Edges Rides

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens at Walt Disney World l GMA

There are two rides in Star Wars: Galaxys Edge, although both are so detailed and immersive, they will probably end up feeling like twice that many once guests have worked their way through their long queues and involved ride experiences.

First up, in Batuus central spaceport, is Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, which will make countless childrens dreams come true by allowing them to climb aboard the most famous starship in movie history and take her out for a spin. Groups of six sit in the Millennium Falcons cockpit, filling three different jobs pilots, gunners, and engineers while a powerful computer system renders the landscape through the viewports around them in real time, reacting to guests active controls. Yes, this may make Smugglers Run a motion simulator, like the pre-existent Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, but this is clearly next-generation stuff 200 buttons, switches, and toggles are at riders service, and how well they employ them will inform how well they do on their mission .

And as exciting as these attractions sound, its actually what comes both before and after the ride experiences that we should take special note of: neither ride will feature a traditional marquee or sign , and neither will follow the timeless exit-through-retail mantra that has served the themed industry for so long.

In ways both big and small, Disney is really working hard to make Galaxys Edge as seamless and immersive as is humanly possible.
