Annual Pass is the general term for Disney World tickets that last for 366 days versus those that last for a certain number of gate entrances or entitlements.

There are actually 4 different types of Annual Passes available , and they all have slightly different eligibility requirements, blockout dates, and of course, prices.

Sorcerer Pass Blockout Dates

The Sorcerer Pass has availability almost every day of the year. The only dates that are blocked out are the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday periods. Other than that you can make a reservation any day of the year.

How To Use The Annual Pass Blockout Calendar

Using either the Walt Disney World website or the My Disney Experience app, go to Make Theme Park Reservations, then under View Current Availability choose Annual Pass.

On the next screen, select which annual pass type you are using and then choose the park you want to make a reservation for. This will show you the available dates and which dates are blocked out.

When you look at the calendar, if a date has a line slashed through it, that means those dates are blocked out for your annual pass type. If you see a green dot underneath the number, that means park pass reservations are available for that date. Again, yellow stars signify bonus reservations available.

The lockout dates themselves will not change throughout the year, but park pass availability will change so check regularly.

The Pixie Dust Pass has the most blockout dates, followed by the Pirate Pass, and then the Sorcerer Pass. Lets take a closer look:

            Transportation From The Orlando Airport

If you are arriving in Orlando by plane, you need to figure out a way to get from the airport to your hotel. Your options will depend on whether or not you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel or not.

Staying On-Site: If you are staying at a Disney World hotel, your options are limited compared to what they once were. Disneys Magical Express has been discontinued which means Disney no longer offers a free shuttle service to the resorts.

As a replacement, you can take the Mears Connect Shuttle from the airport, but it isnt free. For One-Way transportation, it costs $16 per adult and $13.50 per child. For Round Trip service it is $32 per adult and $27 per child.

If that doesnt interest you, you can use one of the transportation suggestions for staying off-site listed below.

Staying Off-Site: This one is more complicated and it depends what your plans are for your trip. You can rent a car, take a taxi, or use a ride-sharing program like Uber or Lyft. Obviously, these all cost money and are not ideal if you are on a strict budget.

            • Taxis are by far the more expensive choice and will cost around $50-$60 each way plus tip depending on where you are going.
            • Uber is a much cheaper option and will cost between $25-$30 each way.

Some off-site hotels offer free shuttle service to and from the Orlando International Airport, so make sure to ask when booking your room.

Should I Get A Disney Annual Pass Can I Upgrade My Disney Tickets

Disney World raises annual pass price

            Heres the deal

In the end, only you can assess the intersection of your love for Disney World, your ability to travel there, your financial situation and make that decision. Once annual pass sales resume, there is one alternate option to purchasing an annual pass right out of the gate. If you have a Disney trip planned you can upgrade to an annual pass while you are there before your ticket entitlement runs out. Basically, this means before the last day. Complimentary tickets, special event tickets and waterpark tickets are not eligible for upgrades.

Just keep in mind that if you wait to upgrade and pass sales are paused during your vacation, you wont be able to upgrade.

The Right Disneyland Paris Annual Pass For You

In this section, we are going to look deeper at all 4 Disneyland Paris Annual Passes. We are going to discuss the major perks of that particular Annual Pass, how many days you need to visit to make the Annual Pass worth it, and if/when you should consider upgrading to the next level.

In our opinion, a Disneyland Paris Annual Pass is only worth it when it saves you money and allows you to visit the parks on the dates you want to do. Just because an Infinity Annual Pass is cheaper than buying separate day tickets doesnt mean its the right choice to make.

The most common number of days people spend at Disneyland Paris is between 3 to 4 days. If you visit the parks for 3 days, twice a year, this could cost you between 402-624 in park tickets alone, so you could save up to 125 by buying the top-level Infinity Annual Pass, and up to 255 if you bought the Magic Plus.

Expiration Dates On The Theme Park Tickets Are As Follows:

Ticket Length Valid Use Period1-Day Only the start date selected2-Day Any 2 days within 4 days beginning on the start date 3-Day Any 3 days within 5 days beginning on the start date 4-Day Any 4 days within 7 days beginning on the start date 5-Day Any 5 days within 8 days beginning on the start date 6-Day Any 6 days within 9 days beginning on the start date 7-Day Any 7 days within 10 days beginning on the start date 8-Day Any 8 days within 12 days beginning on the start date 9-Day Any 9 days within 13 days beginning on the start date 10-Day Any 10 days within 14 days beginning on the start date

Value dates under the new system are only midweek dates in the off season that dont fall on or near a holiday. All of spring break and summer is Regular or Peak. All of the week around Thanksgiving and several weeks around Christmas and New Years Day is Peak. The week between Christmas and New Years is Holiday. Weekends are all either Regular or Peak, so the longest stretch of Value dates you can get in a row is 5 days. Also, keep in mind that the per-day price of your tickets is based on all of the valid days, so even if you plan to go into the parks on 5 Value days in March, a 5-Day tickets per-day price will be based on averaging the price for all 8 valid days , which will necessarily include some Regular or Peak days.

Disney has put a YouTube video online to help explain the changes.

Cost For One Day At Disney World

If you dont want to go to Walt Disney World for your whole vacation in Orlando, you can visit for just one day and the price will be significantly cheaper. How much does it cost for one day?

            • Park Tickets A one-day park ticket costs between $109-$159 depending on what time of the year you go. Lets split the difference down the middle.
            • Food This is very subjective and depends on how much you eat and where. If you are going for one day you probably will be only eating at quick service restaurants and snacks . Over a full day you have to figure $40-$50 per person).
            • Parking If you are only going to Walt Disney World for one day, you likely are taking a car to get there. In that case, you need to account for the parking fees at the theme parks.

When you add up park tickets, food and parking, going to Walt Disney World for one day in 2022 costs between $180 $200 per person.

Walt Disney World Annual Pass Renewal Discount

Renewing your annual pass usually comes with a discount of about 15%. For the Incredi-Pass, the renewal price is around $1,176 .

In most cases, it will make sense to seize the renewal discount, especially given the frequency of price increases. That said, if your schedule allows you to push your trips a few months each year, you might forgo the renewal and get a new annual pass. This requires thorough planning, though maybe not any more than is required to ensure you get value out of your annual pass.

Sales of most Annual Passes are currently paused as Walt Disney World manages capacity limits. Florida residents are still able to purchase the Pixie Dust Pass with the most blockout dates.

Upon the COVID-19 closures of Walt Disney World and Disneyland , Disney paused its various Annual Passholder programs. Earlier in August, Disneyland announced a totally revamped Magic Key program, with special perks for California residents.

And Disney World? It took a little longer to get the official announcement, but Disney did tease us with a promise that wed get the goods before the 50th anniversary celebration on Oct. 1.
