Cost Of Scooter Rental At Disney World

Renting A Mobility Scooter At Walt Disney World

Scooter Rental and Disney World

We are visiting Walt Disney World for the 6th time very soon, and this is the second time that I have had to rent a mobility scooter. Unfortunately, I cannot manage the walking distance like I used to. Its not just walking around the parks, but there is lots of standing around waiting for a parade or show to start, as well as waiting in lines. There is also the walk from the car to the front gate , as well as walking around resorts, and Disney Springs. Ive even heard a joke that Epcot stands for Every Person Comes Out Tired, because of the amount of walking involved!

You can rent a mobility scooter inside the parks at Walt Disney World which costs $50 for the day, plus a $20 refundable deposit.

You can also rent an ECV at the Walt Disney World Water Parks, and Disney Springs for $50, but with a $100 refundable deposit.

Up to date prices and information can always be found on the Walt Disney World website.

Renting at the parks on the day is great if it is a last-minute decision as it was for me one year when I just couldnt manage another day in pain. I could only use the ECV within the park I wasnt able to take it to another park although you can just produce your rental receipt at another park, and just pay a deposit again. Bear in mind too, that there are only a finite number of scooters at each park, so if theyre all rented out, you are out of luck. The cost of the rental is also high compared with an offsite company.

Any Ecv Safety Tips I Should Keep In Mind

All ECVs have a speed dial. Position it at a slow speed when boarding or exiting any type of transportation. Youll have a lot more control.

If you have a fear of driving your ECV on to or off of any transportation, ALL types of ECVs have a safety neutral lever located under the seat that enables the drive wheels to be disconnected. This enables the scooter to be manually pushed and maneuvered.

The important thing to consider with ECVs is to practice driving them as much as you can if you are unfamiliar. They are only motorized chairs and not race cars. You can injure yourself or others if you are not careful.

Disney ECVs have a weight limit of 450 pounds. Disney wheelchairs have weight limit of 350 pounds. These vehicles are only designed for one person.

Note this information is subject to change without notice. Call WDW directly or visit their web pages to confirm before your visit.

Do You Suggest Taking An Ecv Rental With You To The Parks Or Do You Rent From Disney

If you are going to park-hop, consider taking your own since the parks can run out of rental units early in the day. If the hassle of transporting a scooter seems too much, or if you believe youll be comfortable walking between park entrances and Disney transportation, you might want to rent one at the park.

Wheelchair Scooter & Electric Conveyance Vehicle Faqs

When youre planning how to navigate Walt Disney World with a mobility challenge, the use of a wheelchair, scooter, or Electric Conveyance Vehicle may ease your mind.

But if youve never used one of these vehicles, or if youve never rented them for use at Disney World before, you may have questions.

What If Your Wheelchair Is Taken Or Moved While You Are Riding An Attraction Any Good Anti

Cast members sometimes move chairs and strollers while you are on the ride. Simply ask where it was moved to.

You may want to hang something noticeable and unappealing on the chair. That way someone is less likely to make the honest mistake of grabbing the wrong one and might just think for that split second before making the dishonest mistake.

Most but not all offer FREE insurance against damage. There is no coverage for theft, so it is important to remove the ECV key when you get off your scooter.

Renting Direct From Disney

Scooters , wheelchairs, and stroller rentals are available at each of the Walt Disney World theme parks.

Disney World does not offer scooter or wheelchair reservations and they often sell out. Rentals are first come, first served.

Disney hotels do not rent scooters but wheelchairs are available. Wheelchairs can be rented for the length of your stay.

If you intend to park hop, note that ECVs may not be removed from the park where they were rented.

If leaving one theme park and visiting another , present your rental receipt with your deposit to secure another ECV, if available.

Scooters, wheelchairs, and strollers will cost more at Disney so I recommend using a third party provider like ScooterBug or Buena Vista Rentals.

If you are unable to wait in the traditional queue for an attraction, you may obtain a Disability Access Service Card .

This is not a front-of-the-line pass but it allows you to wait in an area that is more comfortable for you.

First, obtain DAS Card at Guest Relations, located at each Disney theme park.

When you want to get in line for an attraction, show the card to the Cast Member posted outside the attraction.

He or she will assign you a time to return to the attraction. Your return time is based on the posted wait.

When your time rolls around, youll be permitted to use a special entrance with minimal wait.

You will be permitted to bring a small number of guests with you so you can all enjoy the attraction together.

Customer Testimonials

I have rented a scooter from your company four times while at Disney World. I had a problem with it at Hollywood Studios and you had someone there in less than 15 mins. I was given a new scooter and was on my way! Your company is the best. I have been stopped by people in Disney several times to ask me where I got the scooter – people really loved it. I have recommended you to all my friends and family who travel to Florida.– Dawn Ashbrook

Rented a scooter and it was at my hotel when I arrived. It was clean and in good repair. It did hold a charge all day long as it was charged allnight. It was so nice having it at the hotel, and all the Disney buses were accessible, and the drivers very helpful. I did not have to worry about getting to the parks when they opened to secure my transportation and was able to use it at Downtown Disney also. I highly recommend renting from this company.– Jayne Rahe

Just want to let you know how pleased we were with your service. The scooter was waiting at our hotel on check-in. There was a problem with the battery while we were at Epcot and after calling about it we had a new scooter delivered to us within 15 minutes! I would certainly recommend Buena Vista Scooters to anyone who needs mobility help. Thanks again.– James Gralewski

Can I Rent Ecvs Wheelchairs Or Scooters From Third Party Vendors Outside Of Disney World

Yes! In 2019 Disney made some changes regarding which vendors can drop off and pick up rentals without the guest being present.

Disney has selected specific wheelchair/ECV/scooter rental companies as featured vendors. This means these companies are the ONLY companies allowed to drop off rentals at the front desk/bell stand of a Disney resort for them to be held for guests.

Guests using these companies are also allowed to return their rentals to their resorts front desk when they check out.

Vendors that are not on the featured list will have to arrange specific meeting times with their customers and deliver the rental in person. Likewise, when the rental is completed, the guest must make arrangements to deliver the scooter to the company. Disney will no longer provide a courtesy hold/storage for vendors not on the featured list.

The current list of featured vendors includes:

Buena Vista Scooter RentalsBest Price Scooters and StrollersApple ScooterScooterBug

These vendors will continue to leave/pick up rental scooters with Disney resorts Bell Services so guests do not need to be present for drop off and pick up.

Renting A Wheelchair Or Motorized Scooter Off

There are several companies in Orlando that will deliver a wheelchair or mobility scooter to your hotel. The benefits of renting off-site include weekly rental rates, access to the wheelchair or mobility scooter at all times during your vacation and not having to rely on availability of wheelchairs and ECVs at the parks.

Things To Consider Before You Leave Home

Renting A Scooter at Walt Disney World!!

Knowing what your plans are in advance will definitely ease some of the stress of using a wheelchair or mobility scooter in an unfamiliar place. Consider the following when you decide the best way to acquire and use a wheelchair or scooter in Orlando.

    • Will you be using complimentary theme park transportation or renting a car?
    • Are you going to “park hop” or stick to one park per day?
    • Do you plan to rent from the parks or have one delivered to your hotel?
    • Are you going on rides that will require you to transfer from your wheelchair?

Will There Be A Scooter Or Wheelchair Available To Rent

The scooters are very popular and you do need to get to the parks early in the morning or you do run the considerable risk that they will not have any left to rent. Wheelchairs are usually available but the scooters supply often does not meet the demand.

If it is essential that you need a wheelchair or scooter for your visit you may want to think about renting from an outside company.

The outside rental companies generally offer considerable savings and will deliver the scooter to your hotel or vacation home. You do need to consider the difficulties of transporting the scooter so you need to talk to the rental company about this.

Things You Need To Know About Wheelchair And Ecv Rentals At Disney World

Dont let mobility challenges hold you back from enjoying the most magical place on earth! Disney World has you covered with rentals for both wheelchairs and ECVs available. As you begin to plan your vacation, however, here are a few things you need to know about renting a wheelchair or ECV at Disney World.

    1 Where Renting is Available

Guests can rent wheelchairs from all four Disney World theme parks , the two water parks , as well as at Disney Springs. ECV rentals are available at all four theme parks and at Disney Springs but are not available at the water parks. Wheelchair/ECV rental areas are located at the front of each park, so you will have the ability to rent and be on your way! If you require a wheelchair/EVC rental while staying at a Disney Resort outside of the locations mentioned above, Disney recommends looking into an outside vendor such as Buena Vista Scooter Rentals.

2 Daily vs. Length of Stay

For wheelchair rentals, Disney offers two options, which are Daily Rentals and Length of Stay Rentals. Unfortunately, for ECV rentals, only daily rentals are available. Here is a breakdown of the two wheelchair rental options below:

    3 How Much to Budget

Be sure to put the line item of wheelchair/ECV rental on that budget spreadsheet so youll have no surprises upon arrival to the parks. Heres a rundown of prices for both wheelchairs and ECVs as of October 016:

    • ECVs
    • Theme Parks: $70 daily
    • Disney Springs: $50
