Avoiding Early Park Closures Due To After

Animator Eric Goldberg Watches His Creations Come To Life | Disney Enchantment | Walt Disney World

One other thing to be aware of is any separately ticketed events that may be scheduled even during the best times to visit. Here are the most common causes of early park closure:

These after-hours parties can cause the park to close earlier than usual. If you look forward to an evening at Disneyland with all the nighttime entertainment, then avoid visiting these days unless you have a party ticket. Otherwise, your fun may be cut short, and you may not get the most out of your visit for your money. Since park hours are generally released only up to six weeks in advance, keep an eye out for news of parties and note any upcoming dates to avoid . You can look to our linked posts for upcoming events or for guidance on predicting the next season’s shenanigans.

Ta-da! There it is the best time to visit Disneyland in 2022 and 2023! Don’t froget that you can purchase discount Disneyland tickets from your favorite frogs! Ribbit!

Thats a complicated question that depends on your preferences as far as cost, location, convenience and more. We really cant make that decision for you, but here is some information that may help:

How To Outsmart Crowds

Whatever time of year you decide to visit Disney World, you can avoid crowds and long wait times for top attractions if you plan your trip well.

It pays to be an early riser when visiting Disney World. For starters, the parks get more and more crowded as the day goes on, and if you arrive at opening time, you will be able to go on your favorite ride or attraction without any line. Your best battle plan is to arrive early in the parks and spend a few hours going on as many rides and attractions as you can.

Around lunchtime, when the parks are hitting their peak crowds, consider heading back to your hotel for a bite to eat and some downtime. You can return to the parks in the late afternoon when many families are waning and starting to leave the parks for dinner.

The best way to outsmart crowds, though, is to accurately predict the crowd size for the day of your visit and plan accordingly using these strategies for dealing with different crowds. The Touring Plans’ Disney World Crowd Calendar is a great resource for getting a gauge on what to expect for the crowd sizes on every day of the year.

Update After Disney World Reopening

The Cheapest Month to Visit Disney World in 2020

Take about a crazy world that we are living in right now. Trying to figure out when to go to Disney World is always hard, but the last couple of years have been the hardest ones in the history of Walt Disney World. Since Disney World closed in March 2020, everything has completely changed when trying to plan your vacation.

If you are reading this post you fall into one of two categories:

  • Comfortable traveling and want to visit Disney World ASAP
  • Still on the cautious side and waiting to see what happens

No matter which category you are in, I dont blame you and understand how you feel. Either way, there are multiple factors making this hard to do at the moment. Potential travel restrictions, unemployment, and the economic situation all play a role.

Walt Disney World reopened in July 2020, but I have to say from my own experience there in the many times since they have really done an excellent job in making it the safest environment you could hope for, considering the situation.

Even though there are many changes that factor into your vacation right now, weve really had a great time in these past couple of years and have found the Disney Cast Members going above and beyond to try to make the best guest experience possible right now.

In some ways when Disney World first reopened, it was the best time to visit in a long time because of the much lower crowds than in normal years. That has come to a screeching halt and crowds are back almost to normal levels.

Disney World is a truly magical place, making it one of the most popular holiday destinations in the world. However, there is nothing magical about what it costs to plan a trip here. Fortunately, there are many ways to make a Disney visit much more affordable. Here’s the ultimate guide to planning a cheap Disney World vacation!

There Are Other Things To Consider

Yesyour budget is a big part of planning your trip. But other factors matter, too. How will crowd levels impact your trip? Will your kids need to miss school? Will you need to miss work ? What will the weather be like?

It probably goes without saying, but the cheapest times are the cheapest times for a reasontheyre not as desirable as other times of the year. This could be because the weather is bad, or because most families have conflicts like school, or for some other reason.

Is It Possible To See Disney World On A Budget

If you really wanted to, you could also do Disney World on a budget. That said, its not like youd be savings tons of money. Sure you can cut down on food and hotel costs, but if youre going all the way to Disney World, you might as well spend. I personally recommend saving money while youre at home so you can spend it while youre in Disney. Think about it. Every time you decide not to eat out at home or to not buy something, you can use that money during your Disney World vacation.

Best Time of Year to Visit

Because of the large number of international visitors, there’s really no off season at Disney, but during the winter months, usually mid-January through March, crowds are smaller , and the weather can be mild . The crowds also thin from mid-September until the week before Thanksgiving, and in May, before Memorial Day weekend. Summer is when the masses throng to the parks. It’s also very humid and hot, Hot, HOT. If you can skip a summer visit, you also won’t have to worry much about the possibility of a hurricane or an electrical storm .

Best Days to Visit

The busiest days at all parks are generally Saturday and Sunday. Seven-day guests usually arrive and depart on one of these days, so fewer of them turn the turnstiles but weekends are when locals and Florida commuters come to play. Beyond that: Monday, Thursday, and Saturday are pretty frantic in the Magic Kingdom Tuesday and Friday are hectic at Epcot Sunday and Wednesday are crazy at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday are a zoo at the Animal Kingdom. Periods around major holidays also attract throngs — mid-December through the first weekend in January is busy beyond belief. Crowds tend to thin later in the day, so if you’re going to visit during the busy season and have included the Park Hopper option on your ticket, you’ll bump into fewer guests the later you visit. This also applies to the water parks.

Your Hotel Choice Matters Too

You might think that prices will fluctuate the same across all Walt Disney World hotels, but thats incorrect. Heres a look at prices , weighted by the average price for 2022 at Yacht Club, Wilderness Lodge, Port Orleans Riverside, and All Star Movies :

For the most part, the pattern is what youd expectrise from January into March / April , drop a bit heading into summer, drop again once school starts, and then raise heading into the holiday season, peaking at the end of the year.

But theres one big spot where hotels diverge. In summer, All Star Movies prices go up, while other hotel prices go down. The most obvious explanation for this is probably the correct onethat athletic teams and families with kids in school and on a budget drive up demand in the summer, when kids are out of school, at All Star Movies.

Conversely, guests with more money tend to be more flexible in their travel dates, and thus avoid late summer like the plague.

What Is The Best Disney World Park

This is another subjective question. Magic Kingdom has Cinderellas Castle and some of the most iconic rides and attractions. Hollywood Studios used to be a bit boring but with the addition of Star Wars Galaxys Edge and Toy Story Land, its now one the better themed parks. I personally love Animal Kingdom for the safari ride and the Avatar Flight of Passage ride. Many Americans love Epcot as its sort of a tour of the world without ever having to leave America.

How Long To Stay At Disney World

Four full days is our minimum for a trip to Disney as it allows us to have a day in each of the main parks.

If you are visiting Disney as part of a longer trip around Florida, you could choose just one or two parks to visit, but they all are very different. Its impossible for us to pick and doing more than one park in a day would be exhausting.

So even if you are planning a trip to Disney World on a budget, try to allow four full days if you can.

Six or seven full days would be even better as it allows you to revisit some of the parks, have a rest day, or visit the two water parks.

On our last trip, we stayed for six nights with five full park days and wished wed had an extra day for a rest/water park day in the middle.

On our previous trip where we stayed off-site in a cheap motel we had 10 nightssix days in the main parks plus two days in the Disney water parks and one day at Disney Springs and Disneys Winter Summerland mini-golf.

That was a bit much for me, but Simon the Disney fanatic loved it.

You might also want to allow a day or two to visit Universal Studios which is home to the wonderful Wizarding World of Harry Potter .

Disney Costs Staying On

Disney World Increases Ticket PricesâHere Are The Cheapest ...

In November 2018, we stayed on-site in Disneys cheapest resort, All Star Music, for six nights including five full days in the main parks.

Other than some granola bars we brought with us, we ate all our meals in the Disney parks and also indulged in a couple of alcoholic drinks a day .

We spent a total of $2449 for two people which is $204 per person per day, nearly double what we spent staying off-site.

Heres how our on-site Disney World budget for two breaks down per person per day:

  • Hotel and Tickets $139.50
  • Alcohol $17
  • Gifts and Souvenirs $9

The cost of the hotel and tickets was a package we booked direct from the Disney website for six nights which included a discount on tickets.

Transport is free for resort guests so we didnt rent a car. Note that from 2022, Disneys Magical Express bus from the airport will no longer be available, so transport to the parks will be an additional cost .

We booked our trip seven weeks in advance and had to pay a $200 deposit initially and the balance one month before.

I go into greater detail about the costs of different aspects of a Disney trip below.

Understand The Three Different Ticket Types

Now you might be wondering which type of Disney World ticket is the best for your trip.

There are three main types of Disney World tickets:

  • 1 Park Per Day Ticket just like it sounds: you can get into one theme park each day
  • Park Hopper Ticket allows you to visit multiple theme parks each day
  • Park Hopper Plus Ticket visit multiple parks each day and visit the Disney Water Parks, etc.

1 Park Per Day Tickets are the cheapest but might not give you as much value as other tickets.

How To Save Money At Disney World On Food

  • Split Meals portions are HUGE at WDW. As a couple, at table service restaurants we often split an appetizer, one entree, plus a dessert. And were more than satisfied. When we do quick service, we simply order one plate and share it.
  • Eat your big meal at lunch quick service prices dont change much, but table service restaurants can be significantly cheaper. Be Our Guest is a great example of this its kind of a hybrid at lunch and full service at dinner. And, yes, we still split that cheaper meal, too.
  • Choose character breakfasts if you want to hang out with your favorite Disney pals, start your day with them. Prices are much cheaper For instance the Crystal Palace breakfast is $27 for adults lunch is $30 for adults and dinner is $42 for adults . Which means 2 adults + 2 children could save $40. And thats just one meal.
  • Go grocery shopping or order Amazon Fresh if you drive, I highly suggest finding the nearest Publix and getting a few essentials. If youre not, then order a few things from and it will seriously help your budget.
  • Take snacks into the park Disney World is great about letting families bring in drinks and snacks so take advantage of it. We usually bring in 2-3 small snacks each, which keeps us fueled up all day
  • Go when the dining plan is free Usually in the fall, Disney offers a free dining plan promo. By all means take it! Its like free food, so you can save up to 30% on your trip with just that one incentive.
