Discovery Cove Animal Trek Review
After the Dolphin Encounter and Shark Swim, it was time to enjoy the new Animal Trek private tour.
We were told that Animal Trek is very similar to the Trainer for a Day program that you can get at SeaWorld, only its condensed into about 30 minutes.
In 2022, the cost of Animal Trek is $79 and added to the base of your Discovery Cove day ticket price.
The only thing that I wish was different about Animal Trek is that it was right after being soaking wet all morning! For a tour that offers so many photo opportunities, we were feeling pretty un-photogenic, with wet clothes, knotted hair and no makeup. So if you care about getting Christmas-card perfect photos of the kiddos with a sloth, then make sure you have time to get yourself pretty beforehand.
Note: In 2022, the Swimming with Sharks and Animal Trek experiences are offered at the same time. So you no longer can do both in one day.
On our Animal Trek tour we saw:
- Birds in the Aviary
- Ant Eater
As is with everything at Discovery Cove, animal encounters cant be guaranteed. If the animal doesnt want to do an interaction, they arent going to force them. So just keep that in mind.
In the Aviary, we had a private time scheduled to be surrounded by the birds and feeding them. The bird feeding experience is available to all Discovery Cove guests free of charge. However, the Animal Trek tour blocks off the Aviary room for just the tour participants for a small amount of time so its less crowded.

Swimming With Dolphins At Disney World
ByEmma J Martin | Submitted On August 02, 2009
Not a lot of people know this, but you can meet Disney World’s dolphins at their big aquarium in Epcot. It’s similar to many other swimming with dolphins encounters that you can do in Florida, but the experience is more like wading with dolphins, so if you aren’t a great swimmer you don’t have to worry.
Disney’s dolphin encounter program is called “Dolphins in Depth.” It is one of their Epcot backstage tours. I signed up to do it when I was at Disney World in January. In addition to a half hour spent in the water with the dolphins, the Disney cast members took us on a tour of the backstage areas of the Aquarium, where we learned a lot about the dolphins and other aquatic life in the Aquarium.
These are very small groups too. Disney allows a maximum of 8 people on these Dolphin in Depth tours, so you have some good quality time with the dolphins. On the tour that I did, there were only five of us so it was even better.
It was a pretty amazing and unforgettable experience and I’m really glad I had the opportunity to do it at Disney World.
If you want to go on the dolphin backstage tour too, you can find out more about it, including how to book and what kind of discounts may be available in my Disney dolphin swim review.

Buy Your Ticket In Advance
As it is a park with a different theme, there is a limited number of visitors per day.
The total number of visitors can reach 1,300, but only 200 can swim with the dolphins, which is usually what people are looking for in this park.
As everything is scheduled, you need to schedule a day to visit the park at the time of purchase.
Therefore, be sure to guarantee your discounted park ticket.
We hope again that this post has helped you in your research for your trip to Disney or Orlando.

Where Can You Swim With Dolphins In Clearwater Florida
Clearwater boasts stunning beaches and is a popular destination for boating, fishing, diving, and of course dolphins. The waters off of Clearwater are home to many Atlantic Bottlenose dolphins. If you take one of the many tour boats, you will likely see the beautiful mammals frolicking in their natural habitat.
Although there arent any programs or venues in Clearwater that offer the experience of swimming with dolphins, there are many opportunities to get close and observe the marine mammals.
Professional Discovery Cove Photography
However, personal photography on tours is limited, if not outright banned. So you might not have the opportunity to take as many photos as youd think.
BUT, there is always a professional photographer there to capture photos and videos for you.
What isnt great, though, is the price of having to buy the photos and videos. But, they are once in a lifetime memories.
If you purchase the Photo Package beforehand, the cost is $229. This includes all images from your Swim with Dolphins interaction. As well as video.
The photos that you see in my review of the swimming with dolphins, sharks and many of the Animal Trek Experience are all the photos that came with the Photo Package.
The BIG problem with the Photo Package and I do mean big problem is that the video is only supplied on a DVD . In todays technology era, this is just unheard of.
Another problem with the PhotoKey part of Discovery Coves photo package is that there is no flash drive. The photos can be accessed by a website for instant download, which is great. But, again, in todays technological era it would be nice to have images on a flash drive to use on several devices or share with friends.

How to Swim With the Dolphins in Epcot
Dolphins are playful, intelligent creatures and swimming with them can be an unforgettable experience. Walt Disney World has created a safe environment where you can learn about dolphins and swim with them under the supervision of a trainer. The three-hour tour will offer you a chance to experience dolphins up close with no prior training required.
Book a tour with the Dolphins in Depth exhibit. You can pay over the phone with a credit card. The price is $194 per person as of March 2011. Disney recommends booking several weeks in advance.
Go to the Seas with Nemo & Friends Pavilion. From the entrance of Epcot walk right. At the first turn off, take another right and walk until you arrive at the Seas with Nemo and Friends Pavilion.
Enter the Dolphins in Depth attraction in the Special Programs area within the Seas with Nemo & Friends Pavilion.
Take the three-hour tour of the Dolphins in Depth attraction.
Tell the dolphin trainers that you would like to get in the water with the dolphins at the end of the tour. The exhibit has an area where you can change into your bathing suit in privacy. Under their supervision, you will have a chance to swim and take pictures with the dolphins.
Arriving At Discovery Cove
No turnstiles or lines, in the park you really think you are arriving at a resort reception.
There are several counters where you can check in.
With the number of your booking receipt and an identity document, the attendant will print a plastic badge for each person in your group, containing photo and personal data.
You will need to wear your badge throughout the day, there is also a map of the park on the back.
It will also have the time of your swim with the dolphins and whether or not you can drink alcohol for those over 21 years of age.
Arrive early as this ensures you’ll be swimming with the dolphins first thing in the morning.
When you leave the lobby you will find photographers who will take a picture of you and if you buy the photo pack, it will be included.
Depending on what time your swim is, you can either have breakfast straight away or go change and then eat.
The locker room is very complete, offering everything you need during your visit.
You can choose a neoprene jumpsuit or a vest of the same material as your outfit for nothing, the kit with mask and snorkel for diving is also available, along with the sunscreen proper for swimming with the animals.
After changing your clothes, you can leave your stuff in the lockers next to the locker rooms.
The employee who will be near these lockers will give you a key with a number, so you can find the locker number, leave your belongings, lock it and go enjoy the park.
