Can I Bring A Backpack Into Disney World

Strollers And Mobility Devices

What to pack for Walt Disney World in 2021!

There are a few options when it comes to strollers: rent one inside the park, rent one via a local stroller provider, or simply bring your own. Disney does allow guests to bring their own strollers.

If you plan on bringing your own stroller to the park, be aware that strollers exceeding 31 in width and 52 in length are strictly prohibited. Stroller wagons are also prohibited, as are any type of trailer-like object that is pushed, pulled, or towed.

Manual or electrically-powered mobility devices are allowed into Disney parks, so long as they are for a single rider, operate at a walking speed, have at least 3 wheels, and do not exceed 36 in width and 52 in length.

Where Is Security Screening Located

The new security screening machines are located in several places throughout Walt Disney World. Here is where you will be screened:

Does Disney Allow You To Bring Your Park Bag On Rides

Yes! Unlike Universal Orlando, Disney guests are allowed to take their day bags and personal items on all the rides. This is awesome, in that you dont have to worry about stowing your gear before every ride!

Depending on the type of ride, you will either be able to stow your belongings in the large open area near your feet or inside a mesh pouch attached to the seat directly in front of you.

We also came across a few rides, like Soarin, where your items needed to be stored in proximity to you, but not on the actual ride.

External Pockets & Organization

Not only are inside pockets important but outside pockets too. This is usually where we carry our water bottles. I also like to have my lip gloss, sunglasses case and hand cream in a small outside pocket so it is easier to get a hold of when needed. These are things I am not too concerned about if someone were to sneak their little hands into.

Can You Bring Animals Into Disney World

Only service animals are allowed into the theme parks, Disney Springs, water parks, and on Disney Transportation. For limited time dogs that are not service animals are permitted at select Disney Resorts as part of a pet-friendly pilot program. The rules of that program can be found here. While at those specific resorts the dogs are limited to the room and designated pet relief areas. Not all rooms in the resort are designated as pet friendly so that guests such as myself with allergies to dogs do not have to come in contact with them.

What Bags Can You Bring Into Disney World

What’s in my Kid’s Disney Park Bag

You can bring any style bag into Disney parks, however, they must be no bigger than 24 long by 15 wide by 18 high. Most people bring backpacks or purses. Personally, I wouldnt want to bring something that big into the parks. When we go I try and bring as small a bag as I can so that I am not lugging a heavy bag around all day. I do enough of that carrying all of the souvenirs that I buylol. I like a manageable size that I can have what I need and a little room if I need it.

On our last trip, I used my Lounge Fly bag and it was the perfect size for my wallet, phone, personal needs and even had room to stash my Minnie Ears once they gave me a headache. I know that families with small children will need bigger bags but for us that works really well being that my daughter was willing to carry her own Lounge Fly bag with her necessities.

Best Disney Tote & Sling Bags

It doesnt look like much, but a tote or drawstring bag is a great minimalist way to pack. We have been on countless vacations, including 7 Disney vacations using only a drawstring bag.

Using the Merchandise delivery service, we do not need extra bags just to carry our purchases. This is a great way to reduce the size of the bags we are carrying around.

Ive Heard Disney Checks Bags Before Entering The Parks Can I Still Bring Stuff Into The Parks

Yes! Security was tightened at the theme parks after 9/11, and one of the most visible examples is the security personnel who check bags, parcels, and strollers that are brought in. You can still bring essentially everything you brought before, but leave the pocket knives at home.

Disney allows guests to bring in food and drinks, so you should not encounter any issues if you want to carry in water bottles , light snacks, or even small packed meals. The biggest restriction on carry-in food and drinks is that they can not be in glass containers . Note: If you plan to bring a cooler for your snacks and drinks, it can be no larger than 24 long x 15 wide x 18 high.

To make the security checks a more convenient and contactless experience, Disney implemented new contactless security screening devices at all four parks and Disney Springs in 2020. Now, instead of having a security member check every bag, guests pass through metal detectors and, if one of the detectors goes off, you may be asked to open your bag for security to look through, or you may be waved down with a metal wand.

If you are going through security with a stroller, you may be asked to enter to the side of the metal detectors and will likely need to empty the underseat or pocket storage compartments as well. Feel free to speak to security personnel if you have questions.

The storage space underneath your seat on Soarin Around the World at Epcot can be quite small so if your bag doesnt quite fit dont worry as the Cast Members will ask you to leave it on the floor in front of you. Once you are secure in your seat and before the ride starts the cast members will then move your bag to the side where you will be able to collect it once you have finished the ride.

Best Mom Backpack For Disney

DISNEY WORLD PACKING | What to Bring & What Not to Bring

Moms have different backpack needs than anyone else. Moms have to think of everything possible that their kids need during the day and pack that into one bag.

The following backpacks I have listed are excellent for those Moms and Dads with babies and toddlers who will be changing diapers, hauling bottles and wipes, and an extra change of clothes, and so on.

I have included Disney-themed diaper backpacks and a non-Disney-themed diaper backpack. Here are the best Mom backpacks for Disney.

Taking Bags On Disney World Roller Coaster Rides

Rides like Space Mountain, Expedition Everest and Rock n Roller Coaster all have mesh type bags attached to the front part of your seat where you can store your bits and pieces so unlike Universal you really dont need to worry about the constant use of lockers.

You can find our Best Disney World Roller Coasters here.

Disney Rides With Other Places To Store Your Bag

Weve stated above that you can keep with your bags with you on 99% of rides at Disney World so what about the 1% of rides that you cant? The best example of this is Kali River Rapids, where it is guaranteed that if you ride you will get soaked!

And since most, if not all of us who travel to Disney World have smartphones/cameras/ other objects we would rather not get wet and ruined we suggest that you use the lockers at the outside of the ride.

They are completely free and easy to use and the extra time spent storing your valuables is nothing compared to the cost of replacing them for water damage! Some people have suggested that you wrap items like phones inside or under a poncho. However, for peace of mind using a locker is the recommended option especially due to the super soaking nature of this ride.

You can also buy a waterproof cover for your phone/ camera and leave the rest of your bags in a locker while you ride.

I bought this bag to use on my frequent trips to Disney. The large inner pocket is great for carrying a water bottle . The multiple small pockets both outside and inside the bag make it easy to stash phones and wallets. It even held up during a rainy Halloween party. The only downside is that it can be annoying to deal with digging through the larger pockets if its not well organized in advance.

Can You Bring Your Own Food Into Disney World

Another yes! Guests are allowed to bring food, snacks, and beverages into Disney parks.

The only items that are prohibited are glass containers and alcohol.

Being able to bring food and your own water bottles into Disney is perhaps the main reason to consider bringing along a backpack to serve as a day bag.

It is amazing how hungry the kids get while walking long distances in the parks! Also, munching on snacks is a great way to fight off boredom while waiting in long lines.

For these reasons, having homemade snack mixes and other snacks readily accessible is an absolute lifesaver!
