Dads 2019 Wdw Crowd Calendars
Special Events like Halloween at WDW are really fun Photo by Judd Helms
The biggest thing that separates Walt Disney World from other theme parks is the incredible events that Disney puts on.
From the January 1 celebration of the New Year all the way through Christmas at WDW, theres almost always something special going on.
Dads favorite time to visit WDW is during the Christmas season. I absolutely love the Christmas season at WDW. Its truly the most wonderful time of the year.
But there are other great events to check out during the year. Here are the biggies.
- EPCOTs Flower and Garden and Food and Wine Festivals
- Sounds Like Summer Concerts
- Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party
Disney events are really, really special.

Weather may not be a big factor when you are choosing the best time to visit Disney World. There are a few things you should know.
Orlando , is in the smack dab middle of the state of Florida. Duh Dad. Tell us something we cant see on any map.
OK, did you know this. Orlando has tornadoes, hurricanes, droughts, famine, pestilence, fire and brimstone, people turning to dust in the streets
Oops, sorry. Back to Orlando.
Florida can have some funky weather and Orlando is kind of in the middle of all the funk. Weve experienced freezing cold and foot burning heat on our trips. The humidity can be brutal.

Busiest Times Of The Year
So when are the busiest times of year in Disney World? Again, follow the kids.
The busiest time to visit is when kids are out of school during holidays or Spring and Summer breaks. Parents are generally more hesitant to have their kids skip school, and therefore have no choice but to schedule a trip during that time.
The busiest holidays in Disney World are Easter, the 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. The crowds usually start coming in 3-4 days before those holidays begin, and stay for 2-3 days after, or at least through the weekend, before returning home Sunday or Monday.
Of these, the absolute busiest you will see the Magic Kingdom and the other theme parks are the weeks of Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. Those should be avoided at all costs in our opinion as there are always wall-to-wall people and the parks often fill to capacity.
In 2022, the busiest day of the year at EPCOT will be October 1st, which is the official day of the parks 40th Anniversary.
Lastly, if you go to the parks on the day a new attraction is opening, that also will be extremely busy and we recommend skipping that park and coming back the next day instead.
Busiest Days Of The Week At Disney World
What about the busiest days of the week at Disney World? Are there certain days which are always better to visit the parks no matter what time of year you go?
Out of all the days of the week, Saturday is usually the busiest in the theme parks.
In general, the Disney theme parks are more crowded on weekends than on weekdays. This is because during the week the majority of visitors are there on vacation. However, the Florida locals also come to the parks more on the weekends when school and work are out, therefore filling the parks more.
Weekends are also a great time for visitors because it means taking off fewer days from work. If a family is coming for 5 days, you can be sure 2 of those days will be Saturday and Sunday. Many holidays are part of a long weekend, attracting both locals and out-of-town visitors.

Things To Keep In Mind For July:
- Weather has always been a factor when planning Disney World trips, but the temps and humidity in July can be particularly brutal.
- Storms will also likely be a factor, so we highly recommend you plan mid-day breaks from the sun and rain during your trip.
- In 2021, the Flower and Garden Festival ended in July and the Food & Wine Festival started. Dates for 2022 have not been released.

The Surprising Best Times To Visit Disney World
Most of us know the obviousweekends are busier than weekdays at any Disney theme park, and the week between Christmas and New Years is considered to be a sugar-induced holiday haze of teeming masses and long lines. Surprisingly, according to new data gathered by SAP Digital Consumer Insight, Sundays in the summer are the quietest at the park and Thanksgiving week is actually busier than the week after Christmas. Youll also generally find more people at the parks mid-week during the summer months than on the weekends.
Data gathered by SAP Digital Consumer Insight
According to Jonathan Becher, head of SAP Digital and chief digital officer, the information was “gathered from research conducted using the new SAP Digital Consumer Insight data service which unlocks demographic information based on anonymized and aggregated mobile data.” These SAP tools capture mobile moments in and around specific locations. Essentially, by looking at mobile phone and device usage in specific areas, they were able to determine how busy the parks were at any given time. Below are their findings from the SAP analysis, which reviewed foot traffic to Disney World in Orlando during August 2016 and other key holidays in the past year:
While the Christmas / New Years week is thought to be the most crowded, the Thanksgiving crowds are three times larger. July 4th is the busiest day of the summer.
Sundays are your best bet to avoid traffic, as there is a 40% reduction in people over Wednesday.

Questions About Disney Resort Accommodations Vacation Packages & Discounts
When will new Disney resort discounts become available?
We wish we knew! The resort and vacation package discounts are somewhat unpredictable. Only Disney knows when the next ones will come out. We have no crystal ball we cant predict what Disney may decide to do.
However, you can get a general idea of the historical trends. To assist you in planning future trips for which discounts have not yet been released, check out our chart of release dates for the deepest discounts .
In addition, here are some general observations about future discount availability:
When offered, room only discounts for the general public, Annual Passholders and Florida residents are usually relatively last-minute. Dont expect to get a big discount way in advance typically the discounts are released 2-4 months in advance. Sometimes the discounts are restricted to certain resorts or room types.
Vacation package discounts are sometimes released a little earlier, but seldom more than 6 months in advance.
Naturally, Disney only offers discounts on its resorts when it has a significant number of rooms to fill. Therefore the most popular dates and resorts are typically not discounted.
Some additional observations:
When will next years Disney resort room rates or vacation package prices be released?
Is it possible to use more than one discount for the same Disney resort reservation?

The Best Times To Visit Disney World In 2023
For many Disney fans, anytime is the right time to visit Disney World. Since central Florida typically has sunny, warm weather year-round, its hard to find a better vacation spot.
it can be hard to figure out when the best time to actual visit it.
Maybe too hard!
Between the great offerings, the fun festivals and the new attractions- it can get a little overwhelming.
AND with the new 50th celebrations, theres even more pressure to visit the parks. Between the marketing, the FOMO, and a bunch of new things, its any wonder that Disney World isnt busting at the seems with attendance.
While these are my opinions based on a lifetime of Disney Travel, I do think that you can have a magical vacation no matter what time of year you travel BUT their are some optimal times you want to check out Disney World for lower crowds, more fun, and better on your Budget Disney trip!

First Things First Can You Be Flexible Or Does Vacation Time Stand In Your Way
Most families need to schedule vacation times around the kids school schedule but that means parks are jam packed with other families in the same boat and break time typically is in the summer when Florida temps are at their peak.
If you can be more flexible with your schedule, you can hit the parks when crowds and temps are a little lower.
There are also crowd calendars available to give you a better idea of the crowd seasons at the parks, that touch on specific days.
But we can predict some weeks and months that will be better than others and we can tell those by availability, and if things are sold out.
Like strollers. Strollers get booked up and sell out all the time! Its a big reason why I like using Kingdom Strollers You can always grab a stroller from the store if you needed too but its best to have things planned by reserving strollers ahead of time.
After all, youre likely spendin 50+ dollars an hour to be at Disney between travel expenses, Resort fees, park tickets, food, and extra amenities. Those hidden Disney World expenses really add up!
How Accurate Are Our Predictions
We offer the most accurate Disney Crowd predictions available, if we do say so ourselves.
We are completely transparent about our prediction success rate. The top of the Crowd Calendar always gives a summary of how well our prediction matches the actual observed crowds on the previous day. We also publish a monthly article on our blog at touringplans.com/blog with a summary of how our predictions fared during the previous month. And we periodically tweak our analysis to keep our numbers on track.
Overall, were incredibly accurate, and if weve had a bad day, we let you know, and let you know what went wrong.

Arrive Early For The New Extra Magic Half Hour
One of the easiest ways to make sure you get the most out of your day no matter which Disney park you plan to visit is to arrive early and stay late when possible! This will also allow you to take an afternoon break at your hotel if need be. Disney recently made changes to the extra magic hour program, switching it to an extra magic half hour at every Disney World park for on-site Disney resort guests. Were huge fans of this as we felt morning extra magic hours always created some of the busiest days at Disney World. We feel like crowds will be a little bit more spread out as you wont have everyone heading to the same park on the same morning.
So one of the easiest ways to take advantage of your time in Disney is to arrive early in the morning and get in a half hour before other park guests. This will also take some of the pressure off of making sure you picked the best Disney park for that day! Its important to note that this new early entry can also be a huge help for guests who plan to park hop as you will want to get the most out of your day.
Be sure to check back with us as we continue to update the best days to visit each Disney World theme park!
Weeks Im Not So Keen On
Weeks 11-23 all have moderate crowd levels, with different prices and weather. I dont particularly recommend moderate-crowd weeks for first time visitors, but with good plans they are quite manageable if you have to pick one, and are fine for returning visitors.
I present them in two groups. Weeks 11 to 17 are outside the heat and humidity of summer, while weeks 18 through 23 are during the summer.
The first group is in order of least to most crowded, and weeks with similar crowd forecasts are sorted by price.
The 6 moderate crowd summer weeks that follow are in calendar order, as on average weather is better earlier in the summer.
- 18: 5/30/20
- 22: 7/25/20
- 23: 8/1/20
Weeks 24-32 have one thing in common: they occur during the peak of the hurricane season.Hurricanes are rare and even more rarely affect a Disney World vacation, but for first-timers who may never return, why not just avoid the risk? For returning visitors, though, the low-crowd weeks that can be found among this group can be wonderful times to visit, and many of them traditionally see what can be a great deal, Free Dining.
These peak hurricane season weeks are ranked in order of first crowd levels, and within the same crowd level prices.
Week 24 has some of the lowest crowds of the year
- 24: 9/12/20
Weeks 25 has slightly higher crowds
- 25: 9/19/20
and Week 26 just a bit higher
- 26: 8/29/20
Weeks 27-29 have slightly higher crowds, but still in my low class, and are sorted by price.
- 27: 8/22/20

Disney World In The Off
To make efficient use of your time, use the MyMagic+ planning system to manage your time and schedule your priority rides and attractions with FastPass+ to chop your wait time considerably.
This attendance chart offers a good overview of when Disney World is at its least and most crowded. In a nutshell, the low season correlates with times when school is in session and there is no major federal holiday.
Go To The Parks In The Rain
When it starts raining in Disney World, thousands of families immediately start running for the exits and make their way back to their hotel. While that may be tempting considering the crazy downpours that are common in Central Florida, waiting the storm out and staying in the park is one of the best ways to beat the crowds.
Thunderstorms in Florida dont last very long and usually will bring the sun back out a short time later. What you should do is find the nearest show to where you are, go in, and by the time its over, the storm is already likely to have passed by. Now you have a good portion of guests who have gone home and lower wait times on the rides.
