More Perks Of Staying At A Disney World Resort
Besides the free Magical Express airport shuttle and the free Disney bus system, Disney World gives several other nice services to resort guests.
- Guests at Disney World resorts are entitled to Extra Magic Hours: every day, guests can beat the crowds at one theme park by entering an hour early, or staying for later evening hours. The excellent water parks, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach, offer morning Extra Magic Hours too.
- If the theme parks are overcrowded, Disney resort guests have never turned away.
- Purchases made in the theme parks can be delivered to a guest’s resort.
- Disney resort guests can buy the Dining Option that can be added to the Magic Your Way base tickets for admission to the theme parks. The Dining Option is generally considered a good deal.
Another good feature for families is that the main pools at the Disney Resorts are lifeguarded.
How Do You Get The Disney Discount If You Already Booked A Trip
Another common question that upcoming Disney World Guests ask this: If Disney releases a hotel or vacation package discount after you have already booked a trip, can you still get the discount?
The answer is, yes! As long as the discount is valid for your resort hotel, length of stay, and travel dates and as long as there is availability you can apply a Disney discount to your trip. You can do this by calling the Walt Disney Travel Company directly. Or, as we highly recommend, your travel agent can take care of applying the discount to your reservation for you.
Make Sure To Have A Break And Dont Worry About Doing Everything
Contrary to what you might believe, Disney vacations can be exhausting! Youregetting up early every day to run around the parks from morning to night and trying to fit everything in! But please dont push yourself too hard, especially during your first time at Disney! Thats the worst way to turn your dream vacation into a nightmare.
Make sure to schedule breaks either during the middle of the day or have a full break day in between your park days. This will ensure you and your family dont get burnt out during your trip. Use these breaks to take a nap or relax at the pool. It will feel good to get off your feet for a little bit and not be constantly moving. Youll thank us later!
Also, dont worry about doing absolutely everything at Disney World. Disney really has so much to offer, it would be impossible to fit it all into one trip. Instead, plan your must-do attractions and food ahead of time. Figure out what rides you have to do and the ones you could live with missing. This way you get to do everything you want to do, and then you might have some extra time for the other things!
I have been going to Disney for years, and I still havent even done everything! Dont sweat it and just enjoy your time at the most magical place on earth!

Worst Disney Deluxe Resorts
Disneys Riviera Resort
Disneys Riviera Resort is the newest of all of the Disney World resorts, and its minimalistic yet elegant design portrays that. In its design, Disney definitely took its guests requests into consideration, particularly in terms of transportation and the range of room options.
The transportation situation at Disneys Riviera Resort is fantastic. With the new Skyliner, guests of this Disney World resort can easily travel to both Hollywood Studios and Epcot.
Disneys Riviera Resort also offers a very wide range of room options. While you rent a cozy tower studio for two adults, you can also stay in a three-bedroom villa that sleeps up to twelve people ! Basically, no matter the size of your group, this Disney World resort will have a room for you.
The reason that Disneys Riviera Resort made it onto the worst section of this list of Disney World resorts is that the theming is not nearly as pervasive as it is at other WDW resorts. While its supposed to bring up images of the European Riviera and the Côte DAzur, it simply doesnt.
Disneys Wilderness Lodge
Disneys Wilderness Lodge is a beautiful property that celebrates the beauty of American nature and wilderness. As a guest of this Disney World resort, youll be able to hike, jog, fish, swim, and have a campfire! Basically, you can do anything you would do in one of the U.S. great national parks.

Dozens of Disney’s most popular attractions are now equipped with the FastPass+ system, which essentially holds your spot in line, leaving you free to explore other parts of the park. You can pick which attractions you want to use the pass for before you even leave home, then proceed there during your assigned time slot to leapfrog nearly to the front of the line. There are a set number of FastPasses per ride per dayand they do run outso you’ll do well to get one for a ride on your must-do list as soon as you arrive at the park.

Buy Your Theme Park Tickets
Its possible that you may end up spending more on park tickets than on your hotel room, so the decision about which tickets to buy is an important one.
We recommend you review all your options well in advance so you have time to think about which package makes sense for your budget and duration of stay.
Where to Buy your Disney Theme Park Tickets
As a general rule, always purchase tickets through an authorized seller/reseller and buy your tickets well in advance of your departure. This will lock in the current rate of ticket prices and shield you from the inevitable price hikes which occur at least once every year. Unused tickets do not expire, so there is really no downside to buying your tickets well in advance, assuming you are committed to going to Disney World in the foreseeable future.
Your Disney Travel Agent can also purchase tickets for you. The Vacationeer can help you with that!
Buy your Theme Park Tickets Early
As far as pricing advantages go, the longer the duration of your park tickets, the less each ticket costs per day. As Disney states, the longer you play, the less you pay per day.
Single-day tickets are pricey , whereas multi-day tickets become much cheaper by the day. After 3 days, the cost of additional days substantially decreases with each additional day.
Whatever you do, dont wait to buy tickets at the gate, and never buy your tickets via eBay, Craigslist, or another unauthorized reseller.

Disneys Polynesian Village Resort
One of two Disney World hotels dating back to the theme park resort’s opening day 50 years ago, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is a guest favorite, loved for its Polynesian-inspired design and proximity to Magic Kingdom Park. The Polynesian Village Resort has great dining options: Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto serves up tiki drinks with a touch of Disney magic, Dole Whips are available at Pineapple Lanai, and guests rave about the breakfast and dinner at ‘Ohana. Visiting the theme parks is easy thanks to the Deluxe hotel’s monorail stop, and you can even spot the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the beach. Recent additions include overwater bungalows and new “Moana”-themed guest rooms.

Since you can upgrade a Magic Your Way ticket and get the same multi-day discount, it pays to buy conservatively and add more days, if necessary. Note, too, that Magic Your Way tickets only get you into one of the four parks per day. The $54 Park Hopper add-on, which allows you to visit multiple parks each day, is worthwhile for many visitorsespecially those who have only a few days in Orlando and want to cover as much ground as possible.

If planning a trip to Walt Disney World with a large group, it is not necessary to stay off of Disney property and miss out on benefits of staying at a Disney resort. Disney Hotels: Are They The Best Value For Your Vacation Budget
When youre making your Disney vacation budget, you might wonder whether or not its worth it to stay at one of Disneys beautiful on-property resorts. Theres no denying its more expensive, but staying on property will save you money on transportation and gives you perks you wont get anywhere else.
So, lets break it down: The Wyndham Bonnet Creek Resort is right next to Disney World in Orlando, and I found a rate for $121 per night. Disneys own Pop Century Resort is $164 per night. At first glance, staying at the Wyndham looks like a savings of $43 per night.
However, Disney offers free shuttle transportation to and from all of the parks. Wyndham charges $7 per person for this service, which would be $28 per day for a family of four. If youre flying, Disney also offers free transportation to and from the Orlando airport. This saves about $70 in Uber costs.
The other major benefit to staying at a Disney hotel is the ability to book your dining reservations and FastPasses early. And you guys, FastPasses are everything. Theyre free, and youre guaranteed three per day with any park ticket. FastPasses are a huge time-saver because they let you go right to the front of the line at whatever attraction you want!
The 1 Exception To Use Magic Hours
Disney just announce that if you are in a Deluxe hotel room or a Disney Deluxe villa there will be extra magic hours at night for only those guests. This will drastically reduce the number of guest that can attend. And, if you follow my first tip and book a Davids Vacation Club Rental, you will be staying in a Disney Deluxe villa and get access to this benefit.

Buy Merchandise Before You Arrive
If your kids want a costume or a plush doll of their favorite character, purchase it before you head out to the parks. Youll always pay at least three times as much as the parks as you would Amazon or Wal Mart. However, if you are going to purchase at the parks try giving your kids a Disney Gift Card. You can set the balance before hand and let them know that once its gone, its gone.
Why Staying On Disney World Property Matters
First of all, staying at a Disney World Resort hotel means that you have access to Early Theme Park Entry as well as Extended Evening Hours if youre staying at a Deluxe Resort. Youll also get free transportation from your Resort to and from the theme parks.

Should You Consider An Off
Yes! While we often advocate for staying onsite at a Disney World vacation, there are many benefits to staying offsite. In fact, you can often save so much money by choosing to stay off-property instead of at a Disney-owned resort.

Use Mobile Ordering To Skip Food Lines
Rides and shows arent the only places where Disney has created a way to skip the line its true for most food orders, too. While mobile ordering was a suggestion prior to the pandemic, it has become virtually the only way to order at many Disney World counter service restaurants now. That may change when pandemic restrictions are lifted, but there really is no better time to familiarize yourself with ordering food with the My Disney Experience app.
Pretty much all quick-service restaurants offer whats called mobile ordering through the My Disney Experience app.
The process is simple: When youre starting to get hungry, load up your My Disney Experience app, order food at the quick-service restaurant of choice and then pick up the food at the counter when its ready. You order and pay in the app and never have to wait in line for your Dole Whip from Aloha Isle, barbecue from Regal Eagle Smokehouse, hot dogs from Caseys Corner or breakfast wraps from Ronto Roasters.
These days, you are wise to order well in advance of when you actually hope to sit down with food. Expect hefty delays to order food on busy park days.
