Learning About Genie+ And Lightning Lanes
Lightning Lanes are Disneys new skip the line system for Walt Disney World rides, having replaced the old FastPass+ system.
At each park, most or all of the rides have Lightning Lanes, and they can be broken into two groups. Most of the Lightning Lanes are included in Genie+. Guests who pay for Genie+ will be able to select one Lightning Lane slot at a time, and theyll visit these throughout the day.
Each park also has two individual Lightning Lanes. These individual Lightning Lanes are not a part of Genie+. To access these, guests buy specific timeslots for these rides.

Which Disney Park Is Expected To Be The Least Crowded In 2022
Theres no sure answer, but our best guess is Epcot if theres not a festival happening. This is because Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios are the smallest of the four parks, they typically fill up the fastest. Animal Kingdom is the largest park, so in theory, it should take longer to hit capacity each day. However, its also a staple park for families, especially with the addition of the Avatar Tree of Life section and ride.
Most families visiting the Disney parks probably will not start with Epcot, so if youre looking for a more relaxed day, this park may be your best bet. Again, remember that there really isnt a dead park, and crowds are usually inevitable no matter which park you attend. Disney has also done a great job plugging many of the dead times of year at EPCOT with the four amazing festivals that they have.

Peak Season At Disney World
Crowds will be the worst during school holidays, such as summer vacation, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and spring break, but you can make your life easier by locking in ride times and dining experiences with the My Disney Experience app. This app lets you choose your FastPass+ attractions and dining experiences with ease, even when the crowds are large.
In 2016, Disney introduced a surge pricing model for theme park tickets that follows its long-established practice for hotel room prices, which means that hotel and ticket prices are less expensive during slower periods, such as January and September. However, the pricing is done on a day to day basis, so you may find that Thanksgiving Day is more expensive than a Saturday in July, depending on past attendance records.
What Are The Off Seasons For Disney World
Honestly, I cannot say that there are off seasons at Walt Disney World.
Keep in mind that this is the top tourist destination in the world, which means people are always planning a vacation here despite the time of year.
What I will say is that January to early March tends to be the least crowded time at Disney World?

Most Important Tip For First Visits During Covid
If your first time visit to Disney World coincides with continued capacity restrictions across the four parks, it is critical that you check the reservation calendar for availability before making either Disney resort reservations or purchasing theme park tickets.
Due to the COVID-19 virus, Disney World has reduced park capacity. In order to ensure that this attendance cap isnt exceeded, guests are required to book their place within a park by making a theme park reservation.
Reservations are made through the My Disney Experience app or on the Disney World website. If you omit this step before booking, you may find that there is no availability for you on certain days of your travel.
Currently, park reservations are required through 2022, and can be checked before booking by visiting the theme park reservation availability calendar. Once you purchase your theme park tickets, its a good idea to immediately make your park reservations to avoid getting shut out on any of your dates.

Things To Keep In Mind For April:
- The Easter holiday happens this month, which also means heavy crowds at Walt Disney World.
- The Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival transforms Epcot into an array of color. Make sure you set aside some time to check out the topiaries there.
- Storms will also likely be a factor so we highly recommend you plan mid-day breaks from the sun and rain during your trip.

Best Month To Visit Disney World
So when is the best month to go to Disney World? We believe its September! You simply wont find lower crowds and better deals then traveling to Disney World in September. Most families have already had their kids go back to schools which is the main factor behind the low crowds. On top of this we also love the fall events and the popular EPCOT Foot and Wine festival which takes place at EPCOT.
November Start Of Peak Season For Disney
This month has great weather, great events and good crowds overall. Just avoid Thanksgiving week if crowds arent your thing, those are some of the worst days to go to Disney World. Guests can also still visit the popular EPCOT Food and Wine Festival.
My best month to visit Disney World if trying to visit for special events!

Considering A Walt Disney World Airbnb
One thing budget travelers will need to consider is renting an Airbnb near Walt Disney World. Airbnb is a service that allows people to rent out their apartment like a hotel room. But near Walt Disney World, its more common to see apartments, condos, or vacation homes that are rented out exclusively to vacationers.
Airbnb rentals tend to have good price, and youll have the space of an apartment, usually including a full kitchen. This makes an Airbnb a great savings option if youre willing to cook some meals or pack lunches.
The biggest downside of an Airbnb is transportation. Youll need to either drive or rely on Uber to get to Walt Disney World. As Disney hotels now charge for parking, drivers may find great value in Airbnb rentals that include parking. Those who rely on Uber can find rentals that are a $10 Uber ride from the parks, which means youll spend an extra $20-$25 per day on transportation.
Spring At Disney World
Okay, this is my absolute favorite time of year to go! While I like to try to avoid the spring break waves of crowds, parts of March, April, and even into May are pretty perfect. Especially towards the beginning of March youll get crisp mornings, warm afternoons, and cool nights with relatively low humidity. It rains a bit, but not terribly more than other times of the year in Florida.

June Best Summer Month To Go To Disney World
It pains me to put June last. My birthday is in June and I genuinely enjoy being at Disney and wearing that color-coded birthday pin that prompts everyone to aggressively shout Happy Birthday! at you. The end of June feels like the busiest time at Walt Disney World as far as crowds due to summer vacation starting. It is also very hot in June and can be rather unbearable.
Special Events And Festivals
Besides the holidays, there are plenty of special events and festivals to keep track of when planning your visit.
Here is a list of all 2021 Disney World Special Events to consider:
- Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend: Jan 5 Jan 9, 2022
- Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary: Oct 1, 2021 March 2023
- Epcot International Festival of the Holidays: TBD
- Disney Very Merriest After Hours: TBD
If you are going from August December, Disneys Magic Kingdom runs 2 special hard-ticketed events, Disney After Hours Boo Bash and Disney Very Merry After Hours that are very popular with guests.
- TIP: If you are not going to either of these events, then we suggest you avoid the Magic Kingdom those days as park hours for regular guests will be much shorter than normal.
If it always seems like there is a festival going on in EPCOT, thats because there basically is. There are 4 yearly EPCOT Festivals, Food and Wine, Flower and Garden, Festival of the Arts, and Festival of the Holidays that run pretty much straight from the end of August through May.
In 2022, the festivals are also likely to be in June, July, and August, which means there isnt a month without one of them going on all year.
In 2022 and 2023, the biggest event is going to be the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World. This will be a celebration lasting 18 months and includes big upgrades to some rides as well as completely new attractions.

Is Disney World Back To Normal
Lookwere done with the question of is Disney World back to normal? It isnt back to what it was before, but with a few exceptions, its a normal theme park experience.
The Disney Dining Plan has not yet returned. Character greetings are only sort ofreturning. The indoor mask requirement is still around. A few hotels havent reopened. But for the most part the parks are a mix of things fully back to normal and things that are probably the new normal .
