Best Resorts Near Walt Disney World

What Is The Best Disney Resort For Families

Marriott Village Lake Buena Vista – Best Affordable Hotels Near Walt Disney World (Review & Tour)

It really depends on what is most important for your family. If your children are animal lovers, the Animal Kingdom Lodge is a good option. If your kids spend a large amount of time in the pool, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort Riverside and Disney’s Beach Club, both have 3.5-acre mini water parks.

I am partial to the Riviera since most of the rooms are suites with plenty of room for the whole family, as well as lovely pools, a character breakfast, and the Skyliner, which will make for easy transportation around the park.

Disneys Old Key West Resort

If you want a laid back trip, you will absolutely get that at Disneys Old Key West Resort inspired by the romance and relaxation of the Florida Keys. The palm trees, beautiful pools and peaceful common spaces will make you feel at ease. This is a great place for down time and to unwind when youre away from the parks.

Families looking for a hotel that appeals to multiple generations should try Disneys Beach Club Resort . This deluxe-level hotel has one of the best pools at Walt Disney World, Stormalong Bay, a sandy-bottom pool with three different lagoon areas, a waterslide, and a shipwreck. Disneys Beach Club is inspired by 19th century New England beach cottages, and older generations will appreciate the one- and two-bedroom home-away-from-home vacation villas.

What Restrictions Are In Place At Disney

While a face mask is not required for walking around the parks outside anymore, masks are currently required indoors except when you are actively eating or drinking.

To enter the resorts, both a park reservation and a valid theme park admission ticket for the same park on the same date are required. A hotel reservation does not guarantee theme park access.

Art Of Animation Resort

Fans of animation will love this resorts themed areas, including those based on:

  • Finding Nemo
  • The Lion King
  • The Little Mermaid.

The good news is that its a value resort, meaning that stays arent as expensive. However, that doesnt mean it isnt one of the greatest places to stay in Disney World! There are still many amenities, including pools, jogging trails, movies under the stars, and more.

Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress Hotel Review

Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress is a hotel near Walt Disney World just outside of Disney Springs. This review covers our stay at this resort, with room photos, a look at the grounds and features of the resort, pros & cons of the hotel, and various thoughts about staying at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress during a Walt Disney World or Orlando vacation.

First, a bit of background is in order for those of you unfamiliar with this hotel. As the name might suggest, the hotel is located in Grand Cypress, which is sort of like Bonnet Creek in that its a resort complex that encompasses multiple properties. In the case of Grand Cypress, theres the Hyatt, the Villas at Grand Cypress , a tennis club, and approximately 70-gajillion holes of golf . Its a quiet, lush area located about 5 minutes from Disney Springs.

The Hyatt Regency is truly a resort complex, and occupies 21 acres within Grand Cypress. A couple of years ago, the hotel completed a $54 million overhaul, with more since spent bringing total renovations to $75 million. This seems like an astronomical sum for a single hotel to meand additional changes are plannedbut I guess hotels and conventions are big business in Orlando. Regardless, all of the money dumped into this Hyatt shows.

Lets take a look at everything the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress offers that make it a top notch destination resort

Okay, maybe not tigers, but there is a parrot that greets guests in the atrium.

Best Overall: Disneys Riviera Resort

Disneys Riviera Resort

Disney Worlds newest hotel has luxury amenities, buzzworthy dining, and easy access to the new Skyliner gondola transportation system.

  • Two pools and a splash pad

  • Four restaurants

  • Some rooms with only Murphy beds

  • Less Disney feel

Inspired by Walt Disneys vacations to the South of France, Disneys Riviera Resort is the newest Walt Disney World hotel that opened towards the end of 2019. The hotels luxury feel starts the moment you walk into the gleaming white lobby with its view of the lake beyond and extends to the furthest corners of the resorts outdoor spaces, where youll find gorgeous inlaid murals of scenes from Disney movies like “Tangled.”But overall, the resort feels more like a luxury hotel than a Disney-themed one.

The smallest rooms are Tower Studios which feature pull-down queen Murphy beds and mini-kitchenettes, and the largest are three-bedroom suites with full kitchens and in-room washers and dryers. Three restaurants range from fine character dining at Topolinos Terrace, a rooftop restaurant that has views of the Hollywood Studios fireworks when theyre happening, to quick service at Primo Piatto and Bar Riva, the poolside bar serving small plates. By day, Le Petite Café is a coffee shop by night it becomes a cocktail lounge. Because Riviera has a Skyliner stop, this hotel has especially quick access to Epcot and Hollywood Studios on the new aerial gondola system.

Disney Deluxe Resort Benefits And Amenities

Transportation

Aside from the luxury of the resorts themselves, distance to parks and ease in transportation is a huge benefit of the Disney deluxe resorts. A majority of them are significantly closer to one or more of the Disney parks than value or moderate resort hotels. Also, there’s a variety of transportation options, including boats, monorails and the new Disney Skyliner.

Disney’s Contemporary, Polynesian and Grand Floridian Resorts are all just a monorail ride away from Magic Kingdom. The Contemporary offers a short walking path to Magic Kingdom and the Grand Floridian has a new walking bridge, as well. The Polynesian, Grand Floridian and Disney’s Wilderness Lodge also offer boat access to Magic Kingdom. Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts and Disney’s BoardWalk Inn are within walking distance to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Guests staying on the BoardWalk can also make the quick walk to the EPCOT Skyliner transportation hub for a magical flight to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is the closest deluxe hotel to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. All Walt Disney World Resort hotels offer bus service around the property. Keep in mind that your favorite park may play a part in which resort you pick!

Dining

Each of the Disney deluxe resorts has a little market that allows you to purchase essentials, from toothpaste to a pint of ice cream. These small stores are a great place to stock up on snacks.

Disneys Polynesian Resort Village

Top 10 Off

Another Disney Deluxe Resort accessible by monorail, and boat, Disneys Polynesian Resort shares the same walking path at Disneys Grand Floridian Resort and Shades of Green. You are able to see this resort directly across the lagoon from the Magic Kingdom entrance. The Polynesian Resort features villa bungalows along with the water and tiki lamps near the pool. This island-style resort features elements from Disneys Moana and the Polynesian Islands. And is also home to Kona Cafe, and Ohana Restaurant, featuring the world-famous Hawaiian Bread Pudding. We love this resort for the beaches and Dole Whip at Pineapple Lanai. To access the walking path just head to the first floor. Go past Captain Cooks, the resorts quick-service restaurant, and out the side door. From here youll see a pathway leading towards the Grand Floridian. Continue walking past the Grand Floridian once you reach it, and Magic Kingdom is your next stop.

  • Walking time: ~20-25 minutes to Magic Kingdom

Disney’s Closest Beach Destinations Discovered

Each year, an impressive 75 million people visit Orlando to experience the Most Magical Place on Earth. Walt Disney World, the most visited vacation resort in the world, consists of four theme parks, two water parks, 300 dining outlets, a slew of Disney hotels, and countless shops and attractions so needless to say, conquering it all from your home base Disney area hotel is all but downright impossible! Rather, when youre ready to press pause on the action-packed theme park excitement, consider tacking on an overnight stay or a day trip to a beach escape to round out your trip to the sunshine state.

Though landlocked in Central Florida, Orlando is well-positioned to reach a number of the states best beaches within a few hours. So once youve had your fill of spinning teacups, character breakfasts, and hour-long lines, trade in your Mickey Mouse ears for flip flops and head to the shore.

Lake Louisa State Park

Located thirty minutes from Orlando, the Lake Louisa State Park is an idyllic location boasting plenty of natural landscapes. The campsites sit between Lake Dixie and Lake Hammond and feature 30-amp and 50-amp hookups, and some of the sites are large enough for RVs up to 50 feet.

On-site are also two bathhouses, a small pavilion, and two fishing piers. There are three fully accessible camping sites at this park, each with level concrete pads. These accessible sites also have sidewalks to the bathhouse, and visitors with a disability certificate or individuals over the age of 65 enjoy a 50% discount on their family campsite fee.

There are seven miles of paved roads at this park perfect for walking or bicycling, and youll find many rental bikes available. There are also luxury campsites, otherwise called Glamping, at Lake Louisa, or you can choose a primitive style site.

Guests can also take advantage of a primitive equestrian camp where you can bring your horse along and keep them at one of the five paddocks. Lake Louisa State Park is open all year from 8 a.m. until sunset, and camping starts at $24 per night plus taxes and fees.

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort Riverside

Best for: Families, couples

On-site amenities: 5 pools including a water park and a catch-and-release fishing hole, food court

Pros: The hotel has a romantic, picturesque vibe, especially when you opt for a horse-drawn carriage ride around the property. There is also a food court with a vast array of options.

Cons: The resort is large and sprawling, so it is easy to get off course. It also takes longer to navigate to the parks since the main transportation option is the bus.

While Disney’s Port Orleans Resort French Quarter celebrates New Orleans proper, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort Riverside is an ode to the rural Louisiana Bayou.

All the rooms still have a bit of N’awlins flair, but we suggest upgrading to one of their Royal Guest Rooms, which includes more opulent furnishings and tributes to Tiana from “Princess and the Frog,” alongside other classic Disney princesses.

COVID-19 procedures are available here. This hotel is temporarily closed.
