Best Value Resort For Adults Pop Century
Im actually just going to discuss all the value resorts in one section here because they have a clear set of trade-offs relative to the other two categories of hotels.
As the lowest cost option at Disney World, the value resorts have the highest proportion of kids. They also host kids participating in sporting competitions throughout the year, so youll sometimes have a wildly disproportionate kids to adults ratio.
Weve stayed at all of the value resorts multiple times as adults only. Id be lying if I said we never felt a little awkward or annoyed navigating the sea of kids, but we also still return to these resorts if the price is right.
Besides that, the most important thing adults need to know about the value resorts is that they have limited dining and drinking options. All have only a cafeteria and pool bar.
This is a limitation, sure, but its also an opportunity. Do your dining and nightlife somewhere else and youll hardly ever be at your hotel, which makes any of the other downsides sort of fade away.
A room at Pop Century
Pop Century is one of our go-to resorts when we visit Disney World, and its our favorite value resort. Adults should find the nostalgic theming appealing, which is a nice departure from the fairly childish appeal of the other value resorts.
The rooms are among the newest at Walt Disney World and are very functional. Youll also be sitting on a Skyliner station, which gives you easy access to Epcot and Hollywood Studios.
Shades Of Green Resort
Three words: EXTRA MAGIC HOURS!!!
The great thing about Shades of Green is you get to make use of extra magic hours the same way you would if you were staying on Disney property. As far as transportation goes, Shades of Green is within walking distance of Disneys Polynesian Resort, where you can easily board the monorail and get to your destination that way!
They also offer buses from the resort to the Disney Parks, including the Disney water parks, Disney Springs, and the Ticket and Transportation Center . These buses leave either every half hour or every hour, depending on the daily bus schedule. You can check the bus schedule here.
Disneys Saratoga Springs Resort And Spa
The recently renovated Saratoga Springs is one of only two Disney World resorts to have a spa that is run by Disney. Although a large amount of the renovation work has been completed it will be ongoing in 2021.
So if you decide to stay here make sure you check how your vacation may be impacted by this.
If you are looking for Disney-theming, this probably isnt the place for you. However, the advantages still outweigh this and make it one of our picks for the best place to stay at Disney World in 2021.
One huge advantage is the proximity to Disney Springs. This area has seen a lot of changes since its Downtown Disney days.
There are so many great dining choices in this area, you will not be short of places to eat, or nightlife to entertain you.
Saratoga Springs Resort is also known for its treehouse villas that sleep up to 9 guests, an unusual occupancy.
The treehouse villas really do make you feel as though you are out in the wilderness somewhere, but of course, you are close to everything. They are a great idea if you have a larger group to accommodate.
Because Saratoga Springs was recently renovated, has new restaurants, and is so close to Disney Springs its one of our top picks for the best Disney World resorts in 2021.
Don’t Miss: Disney World Vacation Special Offers
Other Resort Categories And Added Value
There are three other classes of resorts offered by Disney, Moderate resorts, Deluxe resorts, and Deluxe Villa resorts. Deluxe Villa resorts have limited availability to the general public and are mainly reserved for Disney Vacation Club members. When not booked to capacity, however, rooms and suites can be reserved through Disney. DVC accommodations consist of studios and one-, two- and three-bedroom units. Each includes some kitchen or kitchenette for cooking, an in-room washer & dryer for one-bedroom units and above. They are sometimes offered to the general public at a discount during one of Disneys special promotions.
Along with the price increase on room rates and other fees, each class of Disney resort offers an upgrade in amenities for guests to enjoy. Its difficult to put a value on dining and recreation opportunities, time spent traveling from your resort to the parks, bathroom space, privacy options, noise factors, and just plain luxury. What is important to one individual may be negligible to another. For example, a family of four with two large adults may find that, even with the savings offered at a Value Resort, the sleeping conditions in a regular full-size bed wont work. Each family will need to discuss and have some idea of what these value factors are worth to them when budgeting for a resort.
Visit our Resort Guides for a complete list of Walt Disney World resorts, room rates, resort rate seasons, descriptions and amenities.
When Should I Go
Before you choose where to stay, you need to determine when you are traveling. Disney resorts are least expensive during off-peak times of the year. Those times are usually when schools are traditionally in session and not around holidays. Reserving a Walt Disney World room during off-peak times can cost up to 40% less than during holidays and other busier times of the year.
Disney hotel rates vary not only by seasons but also by days of the week. Guests may pay a higher weekend rate on Friday and Saturday nights than during the rest of the week. Rooms are priced nightly so that the rate can vary nightly throughout your stay.
In addition to the overall lower prices during off-peak times, Disney is much more likely to offer special promotions during slower periods, reducing the cost of your vacation even further. Dont expect to see any special offers or promotions from Disney during the week of Easter, Thanksgiving, or Christmas through New Years Eve!

In my times using them, the first time they came up with nothing I wanted, but I asked to be put on a wait list. I did get a call from them with availability and booked at that time. The second time I asked for a refund, and it was issued quickly.

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort French Quarter
Best for: Families, couples
On-site amenities: Large pool complex with a water slide, themed bars and restaurants
Pros: The resort feels transportive, with beautiful landscaping and design details such as cobblestone streets, wrought-iron balconies, and the scent of magnolia blossoms permeating the air. The food is New Orleans inspired so make sure to indulge in a bowl of gumbo or spicy jambalaya.
Cons: The resort is pretty big, so it might be a long walk to your room. Since the bus is the main transportation option, it can be challenging to get around.
Channel the soul of New Orleans’s historic French Quarter at this sprawling Disney resort themed after the Big Easy. There are festive Mardi Gras touches throughout the property from party beads to the jazz music wafting through the public spaces, and even the scent of magnolia blossoms.
On-site amenities steal the show. Adults will love Scat Cat’s Club Lounge serving Crawfish Étouffée, Mickey-shaped beignets, and Southern-inspired cocktails, while the expansive pool complex with a water slide is a winner with kids.
COVID-19 procedures are available here. This hotel is temporarily closed.
Transportation Options Outside Disney Resorts
Meanwhile, visitors who aren’t staying at Disney World have a couple of options. Most non-Disney resorts offer free shuttles to the theme parks, but typically these shuttles run just a few times a day. Visitors probably won’t be able to return to their resort mid-day to give little kids some nap-time or a pool break, which is a good strategy during a hot day in the theme parks. And at night, guests need to return to the right bus parking lot and locate the right bus, out of many, for their resort.
Alternatively, guests could drive their own vehicle to a theme park in their morning, which may get the day off to a quick start. The end of the day may be more complicated: guests who’ve park-hopped using the Disney Bus system will need to get back to where they parked the car.
