Shades Of Green Resort
Three words: EXTRA MAGIC HOURS!!!
The great thing about Shades of Green is you get to make use of extra magic hours the same way you would if you were staying on Disney property. As far as transportation goes, Shades of Green is within walking distance of Disneys Polynesian Resort, where you can easily board the monorail and get to your destination that way!
They also offer buses from the resort to the Disney Parks, including the Disney water parks, Disney Springs, and the Ticket and Transportation Center . These buses leave either every half hour or every hour, depending on the daily bus schedule. You can check the bus schedule here.
Hotel Drover Autograph Collection
Typical starting/peak pricing: $269/$839
Best for: Couples, families
On-site amenities: Free Wi-Fi, pet-friendly, fitness center, pool, hot tub, electric car charging stations, valet parking, 11,522 square feet of meeting space, car rental, concierge
Pros: Close to Fort Worth Stockyards, this trendy hotel offers a hip vibe and live music.
Cons: Some guests staying on higher floors have complained about noise coming from the roof.
Travelers who want a bit of authentic Texas ranch will love the recently opened Hotel Drover, a playful Autograph Collection property steps away from the Fort Worth Stockyards. Of course, the Stockyards are a draw, but guests who stay on property will be rewarded, too: there’s live music in the hotel’s “Backyard,” handcrafted cocktails and margaritas at the Lobby Bar, and mouthwatering Tex-Mex at 97 West Kitchen & Bar.
Rooms are picture-perfect, in true Autograph Collection-style, including patterned-tile bathrooms complete with deep soaking tubs, plush robes, walk-in rain showers, and Los Poblanos bath amenities. Decor is colorful and eclectic, with a vintage southwestern theme and locally-made Rio Furniture, plus a curated minibar and Marshall Bluetooth speakers to bring the party inside.
Disneys Port Orleans Resort
This resort sits squarely in the Moderate category and, in fact, has yet to reopen at all after the pandemic closure. Its big and spread out, with more than 3,000 rooms combined across the French Quarter and Riverside areas. The French Quarter theme will remind folks of New Orlean, and fans of The Princess and the Frog will enjoy seeing Tiana in some guest rooms.
These resorts originally opened in the early 1990s, and though theyve been updated since, the rooms are still on the smaller side. Port Orleans has pools on both sides of the resort and youll also find horse-drawn carriages along the river. But neither have the sorts of activities that can keep kids occupied when youre not in the parks. The restaurants here are also focused on quick service.
Some folks love the charm of Port Orleans. But for the price, wed choose a Value resort over this Moderate resort.

Are Swan And Dolphin A Good Use Of Marriott Points
This will vary by stay. In the example we give below, we get 0.88 cents per point of value. As Million Mile Secrets shows, this isnt great value, especially compared to other Category 6 hotels using fifth night free.
That said, value of these points is subjective. You cant sell them for cash . So if you dont have another Marriott stay on the horizon, the Swan and Dolphin might still be your best use of these points.
Note this doesnt speak to transferring Amex or Chase points and using those. Generally, this will be a poor use of these points as they can be used in a variety of ways and usually have a floor value of at least 1 cent. We discuss this a bit more in What If I Used Chase Ultimate Rewards? below.

Walt Disney World Dolphin
Walt Disney World Dolphin is located at 1500 Epcot Resort Boulevard Lake Buena Vista, Florida 32830, 1.8 miles from Disney. This is a Marriott Category 6 property and costs from 50,000 points per night.
The Walt Disney World Dolphin has been fairly recently renovated and is within walking distance from Epcot, its a pleasant walk, past the Boardwalk shops and restaurants. If you take an Uber van from the airport, expect to pay around $50 USD to get there.
There is a sister Marriott hotel at Disney called the Swan, and both are in similar locations and have similar facilities. The Swan and Dolphin have five heated pools between them, and you can access them all, whichever hotel you stay in, so these are not a dealbreaker when choosing between the Dolphin vs. the Swan. Families will particularly enjoy the large grotto pool at the Dolphin with a waterfall and a water slide, but you should avoid the Dolphin poolside rooms unless you like deep bass from the pool music all day.
All the pools are nestled in an exotic tropical environment so that you can relax in the shade or tan in the sun. The expansive pool area provides the best of both worlds: quiet alcoves for those who prefer a private place to unwind and more lively areas with seasonal disc jockeys and entertainment for those who prefer a little more excitement.

Disneys Art Of Animation Resort
Disneys Art of Animation is the king of Value resorts at Disney World. Its the newest of the category and has a whole lot going for it. The experience isnt exactly the same as at our favorite Moderate and Deluxe resorts, but Art of Animation can easy on your pocketbook while still offering a good amount of magic.
The Art of Animation resort is filled with bright colors, memorable Disney cartoon characters and its now very accessible to both Epcot and Hollywood Studios thanks to the new Disney Skyliner gondola system.
The Art of Animation resort really shines with its family suites, which offer a lot more room and have three beds in each suite . The family suites have The Lion King,Cars and Finding Nemo themes, while standard rooms are Little Mermaid-themed.
The Big Blue Pool at Art of Animation is actually the largest hotel pool at any Disney World resort. Youll find your favorite Nemo characters hanging around and you can even enjoy underwater music as you swim.
The food here wont blow you away, but Landscape of Flavors is a reliable cafeteria-style venue.
Outside of Art of Animation, our best advice, if you are booking a value resort, is to pick one that has been recently renovated. It still may not be your most exciting hotel stay ever, but a new room is better than an old room. For example, TPGs Katie Genter recently stayed in All-Star Movies, which is pretty fresh off a new room look.

For travelers hoping to explore the Windy City, as well as get further afield, the brand-new Renaissance Chicago provides a terrific deal given that its fun decor and upscale amenities wouldn’t feel out of place among a category 4 or 5 hotel.

Best Marriott Hotels Near Disney World
Next, well check out what I consider to be the best all-around Marriott hotels near Disney World. While these hotels might not be the most budget conscientious, they are still within reason. And they are excellent options.
Since these hotels are all larger resorts with various recreation options, youll definitely want to plan a resort day during your stay. If you are paying to stay somewhere nice, by all means, slow down and enjoy what the resort has to offer.
Our first Marriott is the Kissimmee-based Gaylord Palms. This resort is centrally located off Osceola Parkway. Those familiar with the area know that Hollywood Studios sits on one end of the parkway, and the other end deadends into Disneys Animal Kingdom. The location factor alone makes this resort a convenient option for visiting Disney World.

If youve stayed at a Gaylord Palms Resort before, then you probably already know what to expect. The hotels are designed to keep guests at the resort. Why leave when your hotel has dining, recreation, and a water park right there at your fingertips?
With these cater-to-you resorts packed with amenities, there are a few extra charges like resort fees. Gaylord Palms resort fee is approximately $30 per day, and youll pay $28 per day to park if you have your car.
